Premise of the RP
The Kalos Campaign
A system beyond the borders of the Khand Sector has been slated for annexation by the Khandosian Protectorate. A significant battle fleet has been sent to the Kalos System, intent upon conquering it in the name of the Lord Governor Markanian and the God-Emperor. However, tides are changing. Knowledge of the fact that the Khand Sector no longer exists within the old galaxy where the Imperium of Mankind once held sway is causing tumultuous undercurrents throughout the Protectorate. It is facing a fundamental context challenge: a situation which overwhelms a society by revolutionizing their contextual appreciation of the universe. The new galaxy, the Milky Way, is a far stranger and perhaps more dangerous than the Khandosians expect.
The indigenous Kalosian Republic, a cosmopolitan republic of multiple alien species, is resisting the Khandosian invasion. They have reached out to the greater Delta Quadrant for help, seeking aid in their time of need. The wheels of war grind onward, slowly crushing all beneath it. Which shall be triumphant? How will this cut-off appendage of the Imperium of Mankind react to being in a universe where it can no longer depend upon a galaxy-wide empire?
Time will tell.
State of the Kalos System
Within the Kalos System there are three habitable planets, two gas giants, and two asteroid rings.
Kalos Prime
The capitol world of the system and closest to the Kalos Star, Kalos Prime is the intended target of the Khandosian forces. Two moons orbit the planet, each fortified by the Kalosian Republic. The majority of the Kalosian industry is located on this planet. The Republic Council, the ruling body of the republic, resides here. The planet is temperate and covered in a mix of oceans and large continents, climate-control technology keeping it pristine.
Vindaloo
The planet of Vindaloo is the second planet in the system. It is a desert planet with the only water hidden underground in deep aquifers. It is considered a mining planet, as it is covered in mountainous chains filled with precious ores. The population is low and focused in a series of five arcologies placed throughout the planet.
Okren
The third planet in the system and a gas giant, Okren is surrounded by seven moons. Each of the seven moons is occupied by a Kalosian colony. They tend to be oriented towards scientific research and development. They are not named but rather numbered, from Okren-1 to Okren-7.
Moern
The fourth planet in the system, Moern is much like Kalos Prime. However, whereas the capitol world is far warmer and covered in massive oceans, Moern is the opposite. Dotted by smaller oceans that reside along the equatorial belt, Moern is covered at it's poles by thick ice caps. Winter lasts for eight months out of the fourteen that make up the yearly cycle on Moern. The planet's population has various arcologies located throughout the planet that help to keep the Kalosians warm and protected from the elements.
Girdle of Hippos
The inner-system asteroid ring, named after an ancient Kalosian deity. The asteroid ring field is thick with large asteroids, some capable of being used as deep space bases. The Kalosians retain only a single, ancient science outpost located on the largest asteroid in the belt, called Kindred Outpost.
Siv-vis-rak
The fifth planet and the second gas giant. Siv-vis-rak, colloquially known as Sivrak, has thirteen moons. Of these moons only two are occupied by Kalosian colonies. A third moon is given over entirely toward space ship production, the second largest facility after Kalos Prime's.
Fence of the Gods
The outer asteroid ring that surrounds the Kalos System. It is unusually thick and contains asteroids that verge on the planetoid scale in size. It is primarily used for mining purposes by prospectors and there are no long-term bases located there.
Rules
1. No "lol-huge fleets of doom". The intent is to create a deadlock within the system that requires negotiation and cloak-and-dagger to deal with.
2. I, as the OP, will have final say on disputes between players, but will seek consensus and advice at every turn.
3. No one-line posts. At least a paragraph would be nice. Take effort to delve into your characters and background. Jointly-written posts are a thing, too.

Reason for Joining:The Jane Doe Republic Expeditionary Force was en route to return home when it received calls for aid from the Kalos Republic. The expedition commander, First Admiral Riley, determined that the forces under his command would seek to aid those in need. A message was sent back to the Jane Doe Republic, informing the government of the expeditions change of plans. First Admiral Riley is confident that he is acting with the best of intentions and in the national interests of his nation.
