They would go hand and hand when they come out to the general public and are standardized throughout Ego.

Ah, I just didn't see anything in your posts about it, so they must have just started. The Skulk were only established five monthsish before the timeskip anyway, so their organization will take time to spread and acquire the resources for large-scale experimentation with valuable resources.

Interesting thoughts. Now you just have to compose your timeskip

Hmm. You're a bit of a special case, since you're mainly RPing a single character instead of a civilization. I'd do a short biographical entry detailing where he spent his time over the ten years, what campaigns he participated in, perhaps any domestic life or the like, promotions, etc. You might also want to think about having him muster out of the military and emigrate to one of the more far-flung parts of the Imperium, to get out from under the scrutiny of the Greycloaks; if he stays in the military for twenty+ years achieving a high rank while looking ageless, he is going to get a harsh looking-at that might end unfortunately.

Age: Forty-eight, but he appears twenty-four, as that's when he arrived.
Appearance: (Description or Picture) A man of middling modern height but a giant in ancient times, he stands at a solid six feet. With ice blue eyes and medium brown hair he would match with the people where he'd landed. He had no beard when landing, but by now he certainly does.
Height and Weight: 6'0". 160 pounds.
Religion: Suomenusko.
Field of Expertise: Construction (domestic + military engineering & urban planning). Metal processing and working, simple mining.
( All of this actually goes together quite solidly! Architectural principles are very re-appliable, I've found. Metallurgy is just something I'm interested in though, don't quite know if I've a bachelor's degree level of expertise in that. )
Skills and Strengths: Clever, and with a good memory. Given enough time he could likely re-engineer the steam engine. Of course... only given enough time. Resilient.
Weaknesses: He's short-spoken. Could be a strength or a weakness depending on how you look at it. As well, he's afraid that other people from his timeline are about. He's over-ambitious and a little egocentric.
Where in the world are you landing?: Finland, quite obviously. Karelia if a specific province is needed.
RP Sample:Äänislinna, Karelia. 24 years ago.
One second he had closed his eyes, the next he opened them to a great swamp, his gaze swinging back and forth over the wilderness. "Oh, gods." he thought. "I've been thrown out again. No matter, I'll just find my ph- " His hand would hit his thigh as he blinked before looking down, standing ankle-deep in the mud stark naked. "Well I'll be." His first priority would be a weapon, and make one he would- a jagged stone on the ground tied to a stick would do well- a uniquely smooth stone, perfectly shaped for its shaft as if by a god's hand.
After several days of rummaging around, he'd managed throw a girdle of leaves around himself and pick up a wooden staff to hike with. Thinking nothing of it, he began to walk, thinking he would make his way home in a matter of days. Featureless hill after hill would greet him, the wild expanse stretching as far as he could see. Hungry, almost starving, and giving up hope, he would then come to what looked like a blazing dot in the corner of his vision, in the middle of the night. Fire.
At the fire, a large group of people would be resting and singing, in a strange version of a tongue that sounded oddly familiar to him.
"Vaka vanha Väinämöinen kävi tuota katsomahan
Sampsan siemenen aloa, Pellervoisen kylvämiä.
Näki puut ylenneheksi, vesat nuoret nousneheksi;
yks' on tammi taimimatta, juurtumatta puu Jumalan."
And as he approached from the woods, a blazing torch now in one hand and his ancient spear in the other, a ragged beard from his chin falling and his icy eyes piercing the darkness, those around the fire would gaze over before falling to their knees.
So returned Väinämöinen, to aid the Finnish people in their moment of need.
