Are there any points in your nation's history that could have resulted in a different conclusion? What would happen if your nation's history took the alternate ending(s) instead of the "normal" ending?
(Note that an explanation/cause for an alternate historical event is not necessarily important, at least for this thread. It is more worthwhile to concentrate on the results that come from changes in history.)
There are certain examples where Pavonistade's history would have taken a different turn, and therefore would have created a different Pavonistade.
Pavonistade was not unified in antiquity
What went down: The Hals'se Combine was an ancient indigenous nation that controlled a significant part of Pavonistade's main island (Mainland Pavonistade). A leader named Chief Ebom launched a military campaign that was ultimately successful. His nation subdued all other indigenous nations and unified all major Pavonistadian islands. Ebom's successor proclaimed the creation of the Jopj Combine (Jopj means "overall" in the Hals'se language), the first nation to unify most of Pavonistade.
What could have went down: The campaign to unify Pavonistade could have easily failed. If Ebom failed to unify Pavonistade, it would have been ruled by various indigenous nations for many more centuries. Early on, their cultures would have continued to evolve differently, since they were not dominated by one overall culture. Pavonistade would be extremely culturally-diverse in antiquity and there might be even more conflicts than in our timeline.
When colonization of Pavonistade begins, the fractured nations of Pavonistade would respond differently to foreign powers (e.g. Lombardia, currently part of Luziyca). This is because foreign powers would interact with various indigenous nations, rather than interact with a single unified nation. The cultural and political dynamic in Pavonistade may be much more different and energetic than what happened in OTL. Perhaps some foreign powers would ally with some indigenous nations against other nations, leading to even more wars and conflicts than in OTL. Different colonies in Pavonistade would have existed without unifying, so this means that modern-day Pavonistade would be altered or even nonexistent (since it is based on a unified colony after the 18th century).

Aucurian Calvarists did not arrive in Pavonistade
What went down: Certain Christians from Aucuria evaded persecution in their country and have arrived in Pavonistade. These Aucurians belonged to a Protestant group called the Calvarists. There were two waves of Calvarists, one coming in the 1530's and another coming in the 1600's. Though their presence in Pavonistade were considered brief, the Calvarists left a noticeable impact on the Pavonistadian islands. The second wave of Calvarists introduced the chicken to Pavonistade. In the decades that followed, the chicken was used as a food source and in cockfights, a concept that previously did not exist in Pavonistade.
What could have went down: The Calvarists may not have arrived at Pavonistade. The changes may be limited but are nevertheless recognizable. The chicken would not have been introduced to Pavonistade, meaning that the indigenous people's diet and culture would not have been impacted so substantially. Aside from this, certain Aucurian cultural elements that may have been carried over to Pavonistade would not have been heard of at all. The Jopj Combine, which ruled over Pavonistade, would not have been much more tolerant of foreigners (though they were already pretty accepting of outsiders) if the Calvarists did not arrive.
The first wave of Calvarists were wiped out (perhaps by disease and food shortages) and they left behind an abandoned settlement. If they did not arrive at all, their legacy would not have been left at all and the Jopj Combine would have received the second wave of Calvarists with somewhat-more suspicion.

New Colonies remained a colony of Lombardia/did not become a viceroyalty
What went down: Pavonistade was once the colony of the nation of Lombardia, known as the New Colonies, On November 1, 1827, it became a Lombardian viceroyalty, which meant that it had control over its own affairs except for certain elements such as foreign policy. November 1 is recognized as the date on which Pavonistade was formed, because it gained de facto independence.
What could have went down: The New Colonies could have remained a colony of Lombardia and not have gained viceroyalty status. If this happened, the Lombardian government would still have much control and influence over its colony. A distinctive Pavonistadian culture would not have formed, or a culture heavily based on Lombardian traditions and customs would have firmly developed. The attainment of de facto independence in OTL may have also encouraged a significant expansion in the New Colonies' population and economy, allowing it to begin evolving into present-day Pavonistade. The New Colonies would have never expanded so significantly if it did not become a viceroyalty.
When Lombardia united with other nations to form Luziyca in 1863, the New Colonies would stay as a territory without much autonomy. Though Pavonistade would be significantly marginalized, independence should not be an impossibility. The costs and responsibilities of directly ruling a distant colony would be burdening, especially as Pavonistade's population, economy and infrastructure would grow over the years. Some form of autonomy would be achieved, though this dream would take many more decades to be achieved.

Pavonistade was not involved in the War of the Confederation
What went down: The War of the Confederation was a conflict in the continent of Conitia, south of Pavonistade. It involved a union called the Confederation on one side, and Allied countries (including Pavonistade and Luziyca) on another side. The war began on 1938, but Pavonistade and Luziyca did not get involved until 1940. That year, the Luziycan Navy vessel LMS Nepobedimy (crewed by Pavonistadians) was bombed by Cortoguay, one of the members of the Confederation. Cortoguay's government offered an apology but not financial compensation, incentivizing Pavonistade and Luziyca to enter the war on the side of the Allies.
What could have went down: At this time, Pavonistade was an associated free state of Luziyca. If Pavonistade was not involved in the War of the Confederation, Luziyca would certainly not be involved in the war as well. It's possible that the war would have lasted much longer, while the level of casualties and destruction in Conitia would have been much higher. As for Pavonistade, it may be spared from wartime terror. However, an economic depression that it was suffering from would have persisted for several more years because the economy would not have been geared for war (and therefore spur a recovery). Pavonistadians would become much more divided, especially since they would not be in a war that could unite them.

The Pavonistade associated free state referendum of 1982 was defeated
What went down: A referendum was held in 1982 to determine Pavonistade's status; whether or not it should remain an associated free state of Luziyca was up for question. It passed in OTL, though by a small margin. Over the next few years, negotiations were held in regards to the future of Pavonistade. In 1985, Pavonistade became an independent sovereign state after its associated free state status was abolished. This had tremendous social, political and economic implications because Pavonistade had full control and jurisdiction over itself. Also, Pavonistade was able to represent itself in many international occasions (e.g. summits), and have a distinct armed forces and foreign policy.
What could have went down: The referendum in 1982 could have ended with Pavonistade remaining an associated free state of Luziyca. Pavonistade would not have full sovereignty and independence, and would not be seen as a distinctive nation. This would also be a defeat for the independentists and nationalists. Efforts to distance Pavonistade from Luziyca would be set back by many years. However, the relationship between Pavonistade and Luziyca would continue to strengthen, perhaps to levels not seen in OTL. In fact, this relationship may grow to a point that any attempts to abolish Pavonistade's associated free state status would be futile - therefore Pavonistade may never be a fully-independent country in the contemporary era.
