[CLOSED] Take 3: Federation of Allies Great Regional War

Postby Kaitani » Fri Jul 28, 2017 1:35 pm

Alright lemme assemble my ideas for the GRW.
Bearstin and Afrikaanza were allies of the Rising Sun Army that overthrew the Carinian Empire's monarchy in favor of a republic and profited greatly in this war effort.
With this wealth the two nations prospered and Aftikaanza became a rivaling superpower of Immobilia, and formed the Imperialists Alliance with Bearstin, with another rising power in the region, Arganuta.
Carinia, now Kaitani, was the gateway of interregional trade, even having many resources itself to give to the rest of the region.
And while claiming to be neutral, came into issues with the Imperialists, they did not want to give them resources for their wars of conquest.
The Imperialists were enraged by this, especially considering most of them were vital allies in the Revolution.
They made a plan to get their resources, Kaitani's, and the world's, by taking hold of Kaitani and its ports, it would be tough, considering being a defensive island nation with among the best air forces and navys in the region, but they would take it up.
Immobilia, which was supporting the Empire in the Carinian Revolution, and being the mortal enemy of Afrikaanza, saw the Imperialists as a threat to their regional stance, and saw this invasion of Kaitani as an enormous threat. If the Imperialists took Kaitani, they would likely give nothing to Immobilia, would become insanely powerful. Immobilia could not let this happen, and decided to wage war with the Imperialists, as it would prove the nation against them, give them the financial advantage in trade with Kaitani, and would get loads of wealth if they won. It was a gamble, but they would take it.
The neighboring Arengin Union, while imperialist, saw the Imperialists as a threat to their power and saw this conflict as a means to take from them, especially their eastern lands.

Buildup on Arengin-Ruskland Border
It seems that the recent siding of the Arenginians with the Anti Imperialists has ruffled some feathers in the Empire of Ruskland-Preuben, and this is made clear with the recent buildup on the border as well as a sudden military recruitment drive. The empire's forces, once amounting at 500,000 men-at-arms, has now swelled to about 700,000 men. Production facilities everywhere have been churning out weapons of war at an alarming rate, and more facilities have been built to increase production even more. One thing is for sure, the Imperium was gearing up for war, and it was going to deal a ton of damage against its enemies.

The diplomatic corps have been busy too, as they have been sent to improve relations with Shahinay in the west and also discuss the possibility of an alliance. They also have been sent to Aclus to also discuss matters of importance, such as a nonaggression pact, this move would secure the east sections of the imperium and allow it to draw more manpower from there.

Let us not forget about our beloved scientists, who have been hard at work in the development of better and stronger machines of war, as well as their most ambitious project, which was the non-artillery but long ranged weapon whose details were still in the works. The tech for the navy and air force have not been neglected, and currently the imperium has been pouring resources into them as to gain an edge against any possible enemies. It seems that Ruskland-Preuben will be secure in a war.

Secundus Imperium Romanum

It was about 7 o'clock in the quiet Vitor Emmanuel military base. The soldiers were taking a shower in the 4 of the 7 bath and hygiene buildings of the base, which was unknown to the popular because of its precious strategic location and aerial reconnaissance, as well as being a research base for the newest discovery of the 20th century: the radar, which was already in the second test phase with modern aircraft equipped with its propotype in the Saint Peter's Forest, which covers the entire border between Bearstin and Rannoria. In which according to the news that arrived in the port movement of Genoa, they were not in friendly relations for that moment.

The news reached a coup in the insignificant (at least from the Roman point of view) Kaitani nation, transforming it from monarchy to republic, which shook the relationship of the major powers of the continent, and could disrupt the peaceful Rome, which depended on peace for the maintenance of its business both for the neighboring countries and in its long extractive colonies, and for that moment a state of war would hinder trade on the sea routes, and certainly airplanes traveling in foreign airspace would not be very appropriate. The Roman capitalists who had their voice in the parliament began to demand better answers to the rulers who, fearing a general break, decided once and for all: it is necessary to endure the peace.

Arengin

Recent events through the world had pushed Arengin to prepare in case the Beros, Shihinayans and Rusklands would try to do anything. The Arenginian forces numbered in 500,000 all together, with over 7,000 tanks, and a aerial fleet of 500 aircraft. All in all it was a small force compared to its enemies combined, but with over 3 million men in reserve and an industry that seemed unstoppable these numbers could be inflated rapidly. However it was still a precaution to move troops to all three borders, with over 50,000 in the Ruskland border, 30,000 on the Beartsin and the rest concentrated with the massive Shahinay border.

King Dimitri Oswyn and Prime Minister Vasev Talartov were both convinced of an imminent attack by either one of these nations. The air force was prepared everyday, with daily patrols around the borders and with contingency plans for the war. A war was coming, when and how only god knew.

Defense Department, Paceral, Kaitani
President Innoki made his declaration of war against the Imperialists just 4 days ago, he felt blessed that since Kaitani was an island nation, it would be secure for the time being. There was a very important plan to discuss their game plan during this war today

A full offense would be suicide, but an offense can be a good defense, and that was gonna be the plan, pseudo-defense.
Before they were ready for an offense, they needed to stick to the hope the Imperialists would give up on Kaitani before an offense against them was necessary. But to do that they needed to take on an assertive attitude Kaitani was not going to go down easy. On August 26th, planes started to build onto the southern shores of Septo. The Carinians planned an enormous attack on the shores of Afrikaanza and Bearstin, mostly Bearstin because of distance. This attack would focus on ports, shipyards, and other naval bases, and in Bearstin, air bases closer to the coast. While the attack in and of itself would be offensive, it would play a crucial part in the war effort, if the Carinians pummeled nearby shores enough, an invasion of Kaitani would grow more and more costly.

Silence's Cost, and its Fall

In the 1920s, Grand Riegel van Hetmut was elected in the office. What he promised was rest after several foreign military excursions, and a few other things. He did the job well, and he made other aspects of the nation better. In 1925, he was re-elected, and furthered his promises of keeping Rannoria calm. A bit too calm. Although he did well for the nation, he imposed a strict neutrality law on the country, so that it may not even back its own interests in foreign and international affairs. Finally, in another re-election in 1930, he cracked down hard. You could even say it was ridiculous, whether it be that the people were foolish enough to re-elect him, or that a man would be so bent on Rannoria's neutrality, but he isolated Rannoria. No news would come in, or out. Trading, a strong part of the Rannorian economy, had essentially come to a halt, and the nation suffered, and the military budget was cut down, as Riegel believed that it was not needed too much. The military budget being cut down may have allowed Riegel to spend it on other things, and the people appreciated that, but the worth of a Banjopick decreased, and soon, due to an economical crash that happened after the election of the new Grand, Heket a'Qe, the economy was crippled, and inflation skyrocketed.

Heket a'Qe swore to undo several things that Riegel did, but with the economy in tatters so early in her career, she realized she couldn't do too much. She worked, anyway, and she managed to patch things up a bit. Still, Rannoria suffered, but the nation's borders was back open, and trade started up again, although it was a slow process. Heket didn't want Rannoria to become absolutely interventionist, but she realized that an absolute isolationist Rannoria wouldn't be good, so, she also brought the military back up to par. Of course, the weak, yet growing, economy didn't pair with this too well, but it was an alright start. Finally, after little progress, Heket wasn't re-elected in 1940, and a new Grand came in. His name was Nevers Urander.

Grand Nevers Urander promised more than what Heket did. Although the people and he realized she had made progress, the next Grand was the only one capable of finishing it. Even then, Heket didn't have a big agenda, whilst Uranders did. Uranders promised, that by 1945, Rannoria shall be better than it is now, that it will have a thriving economy and military, and that it can do well. That it shall recover. Uranders had a wild dream, as he also promised to bring Rannoria into the light after 20 years of darkness, but it seemed possible. With the conflict happening around Rannoria in the region, he would see this as an opportunity. Of course, he had done his research. He would know what side to pick if required (and that was likely), and he knew why, but he also did not want to fail his people. He was willing to restore Rannoria's navy, as it had only begun re-militarization and modernization in 1936 (and same with the army on land and a new air-force), but he was wanting to do it well, and put it to action. Already, several ships have been built, and new guns have been made. New vehicles, planes, and artillery have been made as well.

In the beginning of his career, he made a speech broadcasted onto the radio. That speech held a notable section.

*Translated from Rannoire to English* "--Citizens of Rannoria. You have seen war. You have seen conflict. You have seen issues and uneasy times. We have been in dark times recently, but we are also witnesses to restoration. To hope, through hardships. Although we have been at a low for the past few years, we still kept our will. Resolve, hope, other traits. We as those of the blood of Rannoria have these. Keep these qualities, and we shall make it. We will make it. I promise you. Rannoria shall reach a new end by 1945, the end of a dark age and troubled times. We may have not seen the worst of Rannoria's fates, but times could be better. I promise you, that in five years, the words that I speak now, except my promises, shall be no longer relevant.--"

Harwinsburg, Afrikaanza

"The National Harwinsburg radio broadcasting service invites you to listen as we discuss the current events in the world stage, particularly in regards to a new development on our beloved members of the armed services. According to an officially approved statement by the Afrikaanzan Public Affairs Office, a good amount of our boys are headed east for a training expedition with the Bearstinians. That information is correct, ladies, your man's next post for 60 days and maybe even longer will most likely be right next to a loyal and noble Bearstinian soldier! For the newly recruited youth out there, this training formation holds some significance in today's history as the largest cooperative training exercise as of yet. Make sure if you have a sweetheart back at the academy, you give her a well and proper goodbye for the time being now. The first set of troops have already left this early morning at approximately-"
===================================================

Image

The broadcast faded quickly, as King Krige set it's dial to off. Adjusting his well decorated uniform by the lapel rolls, he carefully studied the lavishly adorned room of high ranking military officials. The room abruptly silenced itself and turned all attention to Krige, who had taken it upon himself to set his cigar onto the mahogany table next to the radio. He scanned the room briefly, then shrugged.

"Sorry, never been quite a big fan of that station."

The silence was broken with a small group oriented laughter of relief. From the group of officers, a voice spoke whispers to the man next to him.

"No worries there, Radio N-HAR is for the factory workers anyhow."

Some of those who had been heard the quip broke into a state of hysterics, while the others found the joke distasteful. Ignoring the comment entirely, Krige motioned to General Wulf Rudiger. He responded by courteously nodding back at the King, then ended off his presentation with a quick summary:

"Now then... I believe we all know that the Immobilians, in fact, are our greatest threat for total war in the near future. As such, the plan which I have detailed to you should be vital in ensuring a swift victory upon Afrikaanza. As a great tactician once said, 'be swift in your attack, lest a prolonged defense ails your sword arm, and renders many men dead'. That's all, any questions?"

General Edward Orowitz spoke up immediately,
"Your plan gives great attention to the Immobilians and a land-air invasion... but what of an invasion by sea? Surely if we simply bulk up the border, we'll leave our ports open for attack."

General Rudiger replied,
"Yes, but the Immobilian navy hardly stands a chance against our built up defenses. Haakbaai and Providence Bay are already well prepped for an attack from the west-"

"And what if they flank around towards the east? Surely you've prepared an idea in that scenario?"

Rudiger took a moment to aggressively fix his tie while glaring at General Orowitz. Though he had anticipated every vector of attack his mind could process, he actually had not prepared a plan for an invading sea force attacking the eastern ports. He thought for a moment, then spoke with a relatively curt tone.

"...Well then, we shall station some of your men in the local area around Brinton. If you do so, I'd advise you steer away from the venereal ridden map stain of Port Alfred... Though General Orowitz, it would be of
better military strategy if you just cooperated with the rest of us and sent your men towards the border. With that I believe we can conclude this briefing in agreement. If any of you have any further questions, come to me afterwards in private..."

General Rudiger looked over to King Krige, who dismissed the room back to their duties. Before they left a resounding "HARUUH" responded back to Krige three times, as military tradition under him had ordained. After the meeting, several orders were given to move troops to the Afrikaanzan-Immobilian border. In addition to this, a few parades were held in border towns to boost recruitment numbers and raise morale.

Troop movement (short) summary:
-Joint Group West is currently garrisoning more troops towards the border

-Joint Group East has shrunk in size and is conducting training procedures

-311th and 16th Artillery divisions have been stationed around the eastern border ports

-Port Alfred is relatively void of troops, besides a medium naval port and a small makeshift airbase.

-8th Infantry Division is a week away from arriving at Port Alfred to construct some more defenses (ordered by Orowitz)

Lands of the Aydinirian People have long been in turmoil, in centuries of internal conflict. Since the Fall of Old Empire and end of their glory days - ever fighting, ever in struggle, ever competiting between themselves. Uniting only in case of the foreign threat, only to defeat it and return to spilling of fraternal blood.

But it finally changed. Era of Fragmentation is a thing of the past.

In 1902 young nobleman from House Baeltaxaren led a military coup against the corrupt government in the Kingdom of Ezhid, overthrowing previous rulers and preventing the revolution. His name was Zhisūdris, and he was a leader of small, nationalistic group within the Ezhidi military, called "Unificationists", which quickly grew much more influential and stronger. Their goal - to unified all Aydinirian Kingdoms under one, absolute and divine ruler, God-King in the fashion of the ancient Emperors of Old Aydinir and end the shameful era of humiliation, which for them was last 2300 years.
When Zhisūdris took power in Ezhid he crowed himself for the Emperor, Khshāyar in Aydinirian, by some known also as Shah, and changed the Kingdom of Ezhid into Holy Empire of Shahinay. Within the next several years he implemented advanced reforms, rebuilt the economy and modernized the army, changing it into a powerful war-machine. He also quickly eliminated all possible political opposition, delegalised political parties and created two almost allmighty organizations - SAVAK, the secret police and tube of imperial propaganda, and AQSA - intelligence agency.
However, to unite Aydinirian People he needed a common, foreign enemy. And one candidate for such position was right in the south.
The Arengin Union.

Arenginian cities were standing on the ruins of ancient Aydinirian metropolies and for centuries they lived in once core lands of Old Aydinir, where Arenginians migrated after Destruction. During the past Arenginians many times clashed with some of Aydinirian Kingdoms, so they were perfect for the role of new enemy. When Kavelians, Tarkians and Meadowians started an uprising against Arenginian rule, Shahinayan forces came in aid for the rebels, thus starting the First Meadowian War. It was quite short, although a true bloodbath. From the Shahinayan point of view it ended with great victory over the Arenginians, which in imperial propaganda was soon transformed into even greater and more magnificent one. Perfect for conquering the hearts of Aydinirian people and showing Shahinayan strength to other Aydinirian Kingdoms. And so the Kingdoms feared and trembled, forming anti-Shahinayan coalition. Another war begun which lasted for 3 years. All Kingdoms were defeated and conquered, all kneeled before the Emperor. All, except for one - Assurhan. The most ancient of all ancient cities defended itself, war was in the stalemate. As the saying says, when you cannot defeat your enemy, join it. And so they did.

In 1918 Shahinay and Assurhan joined their forces, Emperor Zhisūdris married Queen Raohshana and togather they unified all Aydinirians under one banner, forming the Second Aydinirian Empire.

But Unification did not meant the end of conflicts. Soon after the end of truce Arenginians once again attacked positions of Meadowians, Kavelians and Tarkians, allied with newly restored Aydinirian Empire. Second Meadowian War broke out. In the end Arenginians and Aydinirians agreed to split those lands between themselves, anexing them to their states. Both sides claimed this as their victory, neither however took all what they wanted, which only strengthened the rivaly between the two.

But for the next 20 years Aydinir enjoyed peace and prosperity under the wise rule of Emperor Zhisūdris and Empress Raohshana (praise will be Their names). Empire flourished, ended a traditional isolationistic policy of pre-unification kingdoms and opened to the world.

It is now year 1941, or 2287 according to Aydinirian Calendar. Divine Emperor Zhisūdris accomplished all He ever wanted and desired, created a new bright future for His beloved nation. Unfortunately, He is in old age and overpowered with disease. His advisers have much more to say in matters of state and among them, one has particualy strong influences over the Empire and Divine Emperor - Cifrinah, Zhisūdris' daughter, oldest child and heir to the throne.
This 19 years old princess seems to be even more militaristic and nationalistic then her father was during His younger times. She is known for dreaming about the true restoring of Aydinirian glory, about a new Old Empire coming again. Aydinir is now overpopulated after the prosperous reign of Zhisūdris. Cifrinah sees herself as continuator of the great work of her father, want to reconquer lands of Old Empire and secure a living space for Aydinirians and is not shy about it. After Queen Raohshana died a year ago there is no one in the imperial court who could balanced Cifrinah's influences.

Times are hard and strom clouds are gathering above Achara. Will Aydinir join the coming storm and begin the expansion?

Gardens of Bhaťipur, August 23, 1941

Emperor Zhisūdris I the Unificator was laying in his bed, ill and unable to greet the foreign emissaries as he used to in the past. Although no one dared to say that, all knew that His days are coming to their end and that the Gods will soon call Him. On request of Princess Cifrinah He was moved to Bhaťipur, city known for its beuafiful gardens, hot springs and health benefits, but some rumors says that the Emperor himself wants to die in such beautiful scenery.

Whatever the truth was, Princess Cifrinah was replacing her father in the duties of the ruler. In the morning delegation from Ruskland-Preuben arrived, and she greeted them at the gates of the royal palace.
People of Ruskland always seemed strange for her, with their strange, octopus-like god and strange customs. They were Slavs but different than Arenginians for example. Which was good.
- At'eaji Khshāyar raheti! - said Ruskland ambassador in quite impressive Aydinirian, almost without an accent, bowing his head and putting three fingers of the right hand to his forehead in Aydinirian gesture of respect.
- Iä Cthulhu fhtagn! - said Cifrinah, in Rusklandish greeting. - Welcome in Aydinir. Unfortunately my father cannot greet you personaly, which He very much regret, but I will be representing Him today. Please, come, I will show you the palace and gardens - she continued

Few hours later they were all standing in a huge room made of marble, with terrace overlooking the gardens. Cifrinah, members of Council of Knowing (advisors of the Emperor) and Rusklandish emissaries were talking, looking at the huge map of Achara.

[OOC: I think this could act as Aydinirian anthem. Let's simply pretend the lyrics are in Aydinirian xd

Teinan Air Base, Southern Septo, Kaitani
"Alright men! You are about to launch into the greatest aerial offensive so far in Carinian history! Now again, targets today are Port Whalen, Warlin Harbor, these 3 nearby air bases, Providence Bay, and Brinton. There are 3 other divisions working on this, but we will only attack 2 or 3 sites at a time, not all forces will attack at once and will go in intervals, and depending on our losses, may not get to some. Are you all clear?!"
"Yes sir!"
It was August 28th, the men all ran to their planes, and they flew from their bases, and then 3,000 planes flew over Rannoria toward Ports Whalen and Providence Bay, as well as a nearby air base in Bearstin, Kaitani was about to show their aerial might

Live Radio Broadcast - August 24, 1941

The world was really collapsing into war. Armies in full mobilization with gratuitous offenses being distributed while the Roman nation remained silent under a global war of untold deaths and losses, which could neither destroy the global economy nor the whole world through its devastating power, even reaching Roman citizens who there was little to do with it, but the government remained quiet. No one knew why, but the population was already getting so angry and after several attempts, Consul Enrico Complazzi, a conservative who had been in power since 1939 and re-elected for another 3 years in office, decided to talk about everything.

It was the rush hour on the radios - about seven o'clock in the evening, when everyone had already returned from their jobs and drinking a cup of black coffee on their tables with a radio next to them, sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied by someone. The soap opera was already beginning with a revealing chapter, in which everyone would discover who had killed the villain of the story beyond discovering the real evil motives of it, that had planned a possible revenge against somebody. The favorite scene of all was coming until it was cut by a jingle used before the speech until it started the same:

"Good evening, citizens of the entire Roman Empire and their dominions, I come on this beautiful night of a tiring day, after several attempts to explain what is happening in the world, and how this can unfortunately affect our people in general. Republican revolution in Kaitani has led to a butterfly effect never seen in the history of mankind that can bring about the greatest - and perhaps the last, war ever seen that could change not only society but how it lives. The attempts at peace were rejected by the opponents and so we must watch the destruction of our continent through the war, and have all our strength to withstand the storm.

That is why I declare with all my strength now a neutrality, as well as announce at first hand an economic plan to avoid a defiance and other crises in the economic sector, stimulating internal trade between regions and provinces if our trade routes between other nations are damaged. I also take the message to the entire national community that despite our neutrality, we will never tolerate any kind of aggression on our part, and if this happens unfortunately, we will take up arms and fight for our country.

The Ministry of Defense this week will open about 40,000 places for bureaucrats and government officials interested in taking care of our borders, as well as thanking those who will have the honor of enlisting to protect our nation in the event of an attack.

Do not be nervous, citizens, for we are strong and will always resist the storm no matter how strong it is. May God bless us and help us."

Gardens of Bhat'ipur

They were in that huge room of marble, discussing things, about the menace by the south. By the large table was an equally as large map of Achara, highly detailed to the point of roads and small towns, all info about from the most small creek to the highest mountain was to be gleaned, if a war was to start with those so called "Slavs", or more simply the Arenginians in the south of both Ruskland and Aydinir, it was of utmost importance that they would be ready to either go on the offense or defense, and it seemed that both could be executed flawlessly by both nations. "If war was to occur, let us be prepared for it." The ambassador, Harad Oth said, "Right now we know from our spies that, Arengin is building up, most likely defensive, as they expect us to pull off an attack when they are fighting elsewhere.". He then walked and took a look at the area where Shahinay, Ruskland, and Arengin's borders met, examining the area closer, he then prepared to talk again by breathing deeply, "The Eastern Urus and the Urus as a whole creates a natural block against any Arenginian offensive but a boon to any defensives, same can also be said to us. But what if it was not so?" He then took a deep breath, this was going to take a bit of explanation, "Hear me out, we currently are developing an unmanned long ranged craft, in fact, they aren't aircraft per se, but more of, much advanced and much more dangerous flying bombs." He then dug into his bag, pulling out an image, and dropping it just past the Eastern Urus towards Ruskland, where it was taken...

Image

"As you know, our rockets and propulsion systems are some of the most advanced in the region if not the world, and all that led to this unmanned beast." He said, punctuating advanced and beast, "Prototype Unmanned Flying Firebomb, PUFF, and that ain't all, it even has a more advanced and bigger brother that flies vertically, and you know what flies vertically, but as of now, still in development.", "So, why don't you help us out finish up this, 'present' for the Arenginians?" He asked of the men and women in there, eager for a response from them. He saw a glass and some wine, "Why not." He murmured as he took some and looked back the people in the huge marble room.

Father Knows Best State

Postby Shahinay » Mon Jul 31, 2017 10:17 am

Cifrinah smiled slightly, looking at the map and reading documents the Rusklands have brought. Other members of the Council of Knowing also nodded, at least most of them. The rest... their opinnion is not important anyway. And still my father have to agree on all of it, otherwise it won't matter as well. But I will convince him, Cifrinah thought.

Many hours have passed and it was almost evening, sky was turning red, as red as a colour of wine. But they finally made an agreement.

Aydinir will back up Ruskland missile program and some of the finest Aydinirian scientists will help in it, in order to produce a weapon of descrution, unseen never before. But it will take long to finish it and until then both nations should prepare and strenghten. There were also two... issues to get rid of before.
One lied on the west, between Aydinir and Ruskland-Preuben. The Japan Corridor - narrow strip of territories under Japanise controll, which separated Aydinir from Ruskland.
Another was in the east, between Aydinir, Bearstin and Rome. Trisal, small nation with vibrant industry and resources which could fuel Aydinirian war machine. Moreover, Trisal was nation born from Old Empire, its bastard child is some way. Distant, romanized relatives of Aydinirians. They should return under the wings of Aydinir, she thought.
Emissaries were soon sent to Bearstin as well, in order to improve relations between the empires.

After some time everything was done. First stars were appearing on the sky.
- We must wait a couple of days in order to arrange proper documents but we came to an agreement, gentlemen. Let's raise our glasses and drink for the bright future of our nations. And our alliance. Feanāśges, we will be victorious! - said Cifrinah, holding the best Quadhiyan wine.
- Iä! Iä! - answered the Rusklands.

Within a few days Aydinirian army was mobilized and stood at the border of Trisal. And in the south, Aydinirians were fortifying their positions in Urus Mountains.

Brinton, Northeastern Afrikaanza
Image

The sirens screamed awake all the men waiting in the barracks. It was somewhere between early morning and late at night, with the sun peeking out just ever so slightly over the harbor and through the windows. At first the men were confused, "Nah man, that's just a drill. It's gotta be..." Private Becker said. But then suddenly, the roaring sound of engines overtook the siren, and a distant explosion jutted the barracks back and forth. The men rearranged themselves and started grabbing for their rifles, "That ain't no goddamned drill! GET UP AND LINE UP, WE'RE MOVING!"

Several Afrikaanzan half-tracks armed with machine guns crawled alongside general transportation vehicles in an attempt to evacuate the city. While the trucks were loading up civilians, Private Becker noticed a Carinian bomber, escorted by several fighters heading straight toward their position. His hands quivered while letting off a burst of MG fire at the fighters, a couple of which were hit in their fuel tanks, while one's cockpit suddenly was stained with dark crimson. Though his attempts were great, Private Becker did not prevent the inevitable when the bomber finally reached his target, and devastated the troop transports in the process of evacuation. In a fit of blind rage Becker got back onto the MG and fired the rest of his belt at the bomber before it dropped a bomb directly on his vehicle. Needless to say, when the smoke clouds finally cleared, Becker and his companions were no more.

Brinton Status:
-Heavy Civillian Casualties, Brinton evacuated of survivors

-Military suffered casualties, but is in the process of regrouping.

-Approx. 1483 military/civilians dead, 2,000 wounded

-Two naval destroyers obliterated, one battleship sunk

===================================================
Providence, Northwestern Afrikaanza
Image

The military radio chatter lit up all over Afrikaanza. During this moment, the military fortifications at Providence Bay was put to the test... and succeeded with flying colors. Preparing for an Immobilian air invasion had meant that many of the Carinian pilots were greeted with a storm of anti-aircraft fire before they even got anywhere close to land. Though once they did make it to the shores, the resistance was even greater. Many of the pilots who had breached the dreaded sea-line had made it to their targets, but very few of those who did returned. Several Afrikaanzan fighters also scrambled into the air, and though their effectiveness on taking down targets was minimal, they attempted to block off any enemy pilots who decided it would be better to turn back.

Providence Bay Status:
-Minimal civilian casualties, one bookstore and one restaurant destroyed

-Minimal Military casualties, preparing for a second wave

-Approximately 30 military dead, 17 civilians dead, and a combined 120 injured

-One destroyer damaged, 10 Afrikaanzan fighter aircraft destroyed (several heavily damaged)

Overall First Wave Status:
-Brinton defeat, struggling to recover

-Providence Bay victory

-Joint Group West has diverted two regiments (8 battalions each) to reinforce Western Afrikaanzan ports.

-Haakbai is alert and prepared for an air assault

-Port Alfred remains relatively undefended, with only eight aircraft ready for flight and six medium naval vessels. Local militia is attempting to evacuate the town, locals uncooperative.

-Cooperative Bearstinian/Afrikaanzan training has ended abruptly. Troops participating in the training are moving quickly towards Brinton (by order of General Orowitz)

-Border forces are getting ready for an Immobilian attack (by order of General Rudiger)

Tenian Air Base
Few of the planes headed to Providence Bay returned after a bit, the wave onto Bearstin on hold now. Generals met up concerning the situation there and came up with their plan. In further waves pilots off about to go on the second wave on Afrikaanza are put on hold into changing plans, this time only 1 port, Port Alfred is to be targetted, not only that but also to not go into the cities of these ports but rather the ports and shipyards, and some infrastructure are to be destroyed, civilians were not to be targets, reiterating the objective: cripple the ways the Imperialists could reach Kaitani.

Image

The second wave of about 100 planes moved onto Port Alfred for the only attack on Afrikaanza, until the attack on Bearstin could be evaluated.

In Port Alfred the planes screamed their way into the ports, targetting the naval ships docked there, as well as the aerial defenses, rail tracks that could bring supplies for an invasion.

The Choice

It has only been a few months since the election of Nevers Urander, and many things have happened. First of all, the economy has recovered greatly miraculously, which aids to many things. This also allowed him to continue building up the military, which also addressed recent happenings. Ever since the Carinian revolution, tensions started to boil among several nations. Now, it has burst. Kaitani has declared war, and nations including Afrikaanza, Bearstin, and the Arengin Union along with the possibility of several others are in combat. In the possibility of war, Nevers has taken the advantage of the situation and started putting up recruitment campaigns, bonking up manpower size. Before Nevers was elected in, Heket had managed to get 560,000 men in total to join the military. Since March, The number had jumped to 980,000, splitting between 100,000 being in the airforce, 180,000 in the navy, and 700,000 in the army, and even then, it still grows. Rannoria had always taken pride in two things when it came to military, and that was navy, and artillery, and luckily those two are a great match for each other, with coastal guns and whatnot. With the evolution of aerial warfare as well, Heket had commissioned several new thinkers to start researching better technology, and one of the first things that came up was the development of anti-aircraft guns. 8.8cm guns were implemented, and later on in 1939, a new heavy mortar that could lob chemical and explosive munitions was added in as well. The development of other things, such as modern tanks, new guns, planes, submarines, ships, etc. were also being put out, as this team had time since 1936.

Now, we address the war itself. Rannoria would have a bit of a pickle deciding, but Nevers was leaning towards one side. They could benefit from both sides, but it seemed more appropriate to join one side. Imperialist powers have been looking at the Rannorian land on the mainland, and so a more empowered imperialist side in the future could threaten Rannoria, although if Rannoria did side with the imperialists, they could possibly gain some of Kaitani's islands, which could be of great use. Meanwhile, since Kaitani was also another island nation, that was also focused on trade, similar nations must band together. If Kaitani and Rannoria fought, that wouldn't be too good. So, it would be settled. If Rannoria did join the war, it would join on behalf of Kaitani against the imperialists. As of currently, though, Rannoria would not give any stances yet internationally, and Nevers will see the right time.

Port Whalen, Bearstin
Port Whalen was a fine port, named for the Whale species and for close family friends of the Blacks, it harbored four battleships and an aircraft carrier at the moment and barracks lined the coast. Up in the radar tower, music was being played and men and women alike were flirting and tossing paper airplanes across the tower. Paper recycled from old reports and letters from loved ones, it was a way to pass time in what was usually a boring day.

"STOP THE MUSIC!"

The music stopped abruptly and the supervisor rose to his feet, "what's the situation?" He asked nervously. It was wartime and while they doubted Kaitani or Immobilia would attack this port, you could never be too sure.

"Unscheduled landing, looks to me like its a lot of planes. Shall i raise the alarm?"

"Authorized."

The private hit the alarm and grabbed the megaphone, "ATTENTION ALL UNITS, ENEMY AIRCRAFT DETECTED! YOU HAVE FOUR AND A HALF MINUTES TO GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF BED AND TO YOUR STATIONS! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL!"

Alarms went off all over the place, the base was woken, but their wasn't much time. The most likely scenario was that only 60% of stations would be manned when the fighters got their. Things were looking grim in Port Whalen, but their was hope.

Barracks, Port Whalen
Jack was sitting at the bar, enjoying himself immensely. Opposite of him, a beautiful blonde girl was laughing and taking shots with him. Jack was seventeen and barely allowed to be in the military, he wasn't even allowed to drink yet but the bar was military friendly so they didn't mind.

"Hey Jack?" The woman purred, "Wanna see something you'll like?"

The woman started to pull down her blouse, he was about to see her- BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUU! Jack was woken from his dream with a jolt. "WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" Yelled the guy in the bunk next to him.

"SHIT!" Jack yelled, "I was having a great dream!"

Port Whalen, Bearstin
The Carinian planes flew into the port, numbering about 250 strong, the roars of their engines heard overhead was soon accompanied by the sound of explosions. The sheer number of planes was also meant for an air base close to the port. The planes pummeled the ships docked onto the harbors, throwing all they had at the shipbuilding sites, railways, roads into the port. At a nearby air base, the runways and plane hangars were targetted, to slow down any air strike that could be carried out on Kaitani. all those poor fish

Rome, August 31, 1941

Rome's financial and commercial center, along with thousands of centers important to its tiny nations regions, woke up with huge queues wandering several blocks in search of jobs after a break in the Milan Stock Exchange due to the worldwide lack of purchase of actions by the great war, leading to multiple bankruptcy of companies, from micro to reputed corporations, which led to the dismissal of millions of employees, mostly members of the service sector and some workers. Billions have been lost and the inflation trend has only risen in the last 6 years.

The crisis along with the first aerial attacks and the destruction of some cities did not shake the Roman morality, like the morale of the pacifist bloc, that was facing the worst possible scenario being the only exit to strengthen the internal commerce between the metropolis and the distant colonies who gave minerals along with the continent with their food and other essential services to the population, giving sustenance until the official plan is officially ready in a few months. But how could we defend our vessels in the event of an attack?

Enrico had no way out, and the only thing that was feasible at the time was a daring plan, but the only thing that could do was to give the sailors and fishermen weapons besides a fleet of destroyers to defend them, from international waters to national coasts for the maintenance of food and basic services to the Roman population. And if anyone dares to shoot, the government was determined to carry out what was said in the official pronouncement last week: "We will take up arms and defend our people."

Port Whalen, Bearstin
Explosions could be heard all around as men rushed to their planes, and in the distance two battleships were completely destroyed and the other two were just barely staying afloat, anti-air guns firing at any plane that they could hit. The Carinian Air Force had truly shown it's might, but Bearstin was no push over and a couple downed planes were scattered across the Port.

In the air, a dogfight had ensued and planes on both sides were getting shot down, the Carinian planes were more advanced and the pilots were a little more experienced but the Bearstinians had something they didn't have, and that was home turf advantage. Nobody attacked Bearstin and got away with it, and it was even worse to surprise them.

"Watch your tail Jack, you're clear to pull up!" advised a wingman over the radio.

Jack quickly pulled his plane up and narrowly avoided gunfire, he rolled behind another plane and began to fire at it, taking out one of it's engines before it rolled away and he had fighters on his tail. Jack's father was apart of one of the first air squadrons and he was practically raised in a plane. He knew how to fly a plane at 14 and was invited to air force boot camp at 16. He gave the veteran pilots a run for their money in some cases.

"We need to take out the remaining bombers!" Jack yelled over the radio.

"Son, we need to take out the planes in front of us first," a veteran pilot replied.

The planes fought hard and neither side was giving an inch. The Bearstinians knew that they would force the Carinians hand since the anti-air, battleship guns, men on the ground, and fighters outnumbered the Carinian planes. But it was a matter of keeping up with the enemy. No matter what happened, Bearstin would retaliate with force. As the minutes flew by, the planes started to leave, the Bearstinian planes started to pursue but were ordered off by the Port Command.

Port Alfred, Afrikaanza
Image
(Port Alfred, Before AND After)

Colonel Lanza stood before the streets of Port Alfred, a burning husk of a city once vibrant with activity. The battle had been an outstanding success for the Carinians, meeting all of their goals of destroying the port and denying railway transport as well, with rail cars tipped over the tracks and protruding from nearby buildings where they definitely did not belong. At this moment, it seems as if Colonel Lanza and his aide are the only ones standing in the middle of the city's most famous intersection.
Colonel Lanza observed the devastation in all of it's glory. Rubble adorned the street as a complimentary improvement to what it once was in Lanza's mind.

"I say old boy, this certainly is a step up from the Port Alfred I once had known. Look at it, wonderful isn't it?" Lanza asked his aide.

His aide only nodded, assessing the alleyways for any sign of activity. Though he was calm, he couldn't help but feel a tinge of caution slowly creep up and down his spine.

"Indeed. A great thing those bombs have done, especially to that wretched grog-bar down the street!" He replied, soon after bursting into a fit of laughter.

Lanza joined his aide in laughing, but between gasps, he managed to wheeze out: "Yes! At least we won't have to look at those damn locals anymo-", but suddenly he was cut off by a haunting wail echoing throughout the alleyways.

"Oi, oi, oi...."

The hairs on Lanza's neck stood straight up, and a drop of sweat slowly crept it's way across his cheek.

"W-what in the name of Jove Himself was that?"

"Oi, oi, 'eres me fakin' tele?"

The aide slowly brought up his rifle, his palms sweaty. Lanza looked down and noticed his knees shook with weakness.

"W-who...WHO'S THERE?!"

"oi blighty tinks 'ere ya knobknokka? oi oi oi..."

The aide's arms grew heavy from clutching his rifle so tightly, and his stomach churned with vomit. Lanza looked to him and whispered:

"...lets make our exit quick and hasty. We'll let the troops do the evacuation. Go, GO!"

Though Lanza and his aide escaped the ruins unharmed, the specterous sound of Port Alfred can still be heard in dark alleyways and liquor stores to this very day.

"Oi, oi, oi..."

Port Alfred Status:
-Port Alfred completely crippled

-Railway directly into Port Alfred destroyed, detour railway still active. A nearby train was derailed and caused further civilian casualties

-Port Alfred Naval base destroyed

-Makeshift runway filled with holes

-900 Civillian casualties, 2800 Military casualties, very few injured

-Civillian populace attempted evacuation, locals uncooperative

-One fighter awarded for bravery in face of overwhelming odds, remains the sole survivor of the 8 fighters.

-3 destroyers destroyed, 1 cruiser obliterated, 1 Unknown Vessel survived

=================================================

...?

The ship slowly ported into the small rigged dock off the coast of Carinia. Supporting it, was a vast Navy of both merchants and military men. The General, who had endorsed the trip, stared at a piece of paper which basically declared the entire trip useless. A small glint in the corner of his eye diverted his attention from the document, revealing his own reflection in the glass of a cup which was partially full with an amber-colored liquid. Being on the boat for such a long time had given him a sort of wildcat beard, which did well to cover up the double edged scar which ran down his lip and onto his chin. When he looked up at the group which sat before him in luxurious chairs, they almost didn't recognize him. He muttered something sarcastic at them about the document but his own words were incoherent to him from a white noise which rumbled his brain, a slight side-effect of analyzing the overwhelming situation. The group responded with silence for a short while, until Merchant Navy Admiral Josef du Toit asked "...And what might that be, General? Surely we didn't come all this way to simply get stuck...or did we?". General Krige pushed the paperwork from his side of the desk towards the Admiral and smiled slightly. The group spoke amongst themselves about the new predicament they were in, while the General simply smiled and said-

King Krige was awoken slowly by his staff, a young woman with chocolate brown hair which waved and brushed slightly against her uniform.
"Excuse me, your majesty..." she started off, with a soft and somber voice, "...there is something urgent your advisors would wish to tell you".

Krige's eyes opened shakily, feeling the sensation of immense dryness, but a fair and medium sort of heat. At first he attempted to get up himself, but found himself slightly troubled by the amount of effort the act took. Getting old, he thought to himself, as the assistant helped prop him up enough so he could get out of bed.
"I was having the most interesting dream before you came along", Krige playfully said. The assistant politely smiled at Krige's comment, handing him his cane just in case he needed it to walk.
"No no no, today I don't need it. Especially if it's such an important day as you say it is", he added in a croaked and wheezing tone which wasn't uncommon for his morning routine.
"It certainly is, your highness. There has been news that the Carinians have bombed some of the cities on our coast", The assistant replied, putting his cane to the side.

At that moment, Krige's eyes widened and his eyebrows furrowed. His heart sped with the fury of a mother bear protecting it's cubs, pumping out adrenaline throughout his body and back from his finger tips. His teeth tensed against each other, and he spoke with a grinded and well enunciated rage,
"Those DAMNED traitors. The declaration was only for show, why did they do this to us? The ungrateful sods took it personally! WE helped them attain independence, WE never even considered attacking their shores, I-...I..." he paused, and looked to the worried assistant, whose knees were slightly shaking.

Krige felt a sudden but subtle wash of guilt tide over his stomach.
"...apologies my dear. I'm not angry at you, just a little shocked at the news is all... Now would you be able to hand me my overcoat? It'll be cold in the meeting room, and I'm afraid I might need it..."

Palace Summary:
-Krige is angry, and won't forget this

-A meeting is currently going on in regards to a counter attack

-Due to the high amount of casualties, certain advisors are feeling bloodthirsty

-MoFA Du Toit has sent an ambassador to Rannoria for negotiation over a proposal

-MoFA Du Toit has sent Emperor Black of Bearstin a telegram, expressing the King's condolences and also calling for a cooperative effort

-Radio NHAR and the Afrikaanzan Public Affairs Office are reporting on the attack and warning future civilians of incoming attack, and urging youth to sign up for military service

-Palace security is being bolstered with more anti-air weaponry and several large machine gun nests around the perimeter (in addition to the already heavy security that existed)

Overall Second Wave Summary:
-Port Alfred is devastated

-Joint Group West has reinforced fortifications on the border and is fully prepared to assault or be assaulted from the air or by land

-The Afrikaanzan Navy is moving to secure a perimeter along the coast with heavy emphasis on anti-air vessels. Submarines are dotted all around several miles away from the coast, yet the eastern ports still remain vulnerable

-Joint Group East troops have arrived in Brinton, dividing forces effectively in half to further reach Port Alfred. Though, it will take some time before their arrival

-Recruitment outreach is already starting

-Joint Group South is considering pushing the border farther south

The Carinian fleet was rather exhausted after 2 challenging runs against the enemy, but all in all the attacks on the ports were a success, hopefully this would keep the Imperialists busy as troops were amassed. However the aerial fleet needed fresh pilots to guide the next wave of air raids, and to get that done means 2 days of time before the next attack, which was planned only for Bearstin as it was more practical. Maybe another future raid could be planned soon. But for now, the first couple of waves ceased, and President Innoki was going to make a public announcement about the attack.

The president stepped onto the podium, sweat beads trickling from his forehead, he wiped them off with his handkerchief and made his statement, "My fellow Carinians, in an effort to prevent an offensive from the enemy in the future, the Carinian air force has landed 4 successful aerial raids against the Afrikaanzan and Bearstinian ports of Brinton and Whalen respectively. These ports were potential vantage points for the Imperialists to launch from and make a full invasion of Kaitani, however with their shipyards, railroads, runways, and naval bases currently recovering from Kaitani's aerial might, we slowed them down and surprised them.
But now they want our blood, and, I understand, they were crucial allies in our fight for freedom, but now they threatened us. But no we are not rebelling citizens and soldiers anymore! We are the same Carinians, strong, and I hope that Our Lord will bless our nation in our fight against the enemy's unrighteous threats to our land! That we will fight!
And that brings another thing, we have organized a draft into the military, we must increase our armies for a better shot of defense, we need pilots to defend our shores, sailors to block their way, soldiers to defend our nation should they come upon our shores, or to man the guns we need to defend our homes, our bases, our nation from the clutches of the people who seek to take our freedom a mere 26 years after achieving it!"

The people went to work, dozens of projects were assigned to erect bunkers, to mass produce and station anti-aircraft guns in major cities, build air raid shelters in the case of attack, the nation prepared for an attack on their shores.

Harwinsburg Palace, Afrikaanza
King Krige stood before the the determined masses, with a look on his face that could only be described as powerful. Every time he lifted his hand to the crowd, their violent howls would only intensify in volume. He looked to them and raised his chin in a posture of pride and vengeance, speaking from the heart rather than the script. When he spoke to the crowd, his voice would boom and growl fiercely against even the most loyal of chants that present itself. Afrikaanzan banners hoisted themselves up onto the balcony, and all around the crowd. In a swift motion, he lowered his fist onto the podium and finally spoke:

"Countrymen... Patriots... and all of you who know within your heart that YOU are Afrikaanzan! Today, we have faced the brute force and treacherous behavior of the savage Carinian! The same savage who we gave independence to! The same LEECH, who we gave Afrikaanza her resources to! The same inhuman SCUM, who has desecrated our fatherland, and now lays many Afrikaanzan men buried by their FATHERS, their MOTHERS, and even their COMRADES! Our cities on the coast, a once beautiful and peaceful section of our blood, have been destroyed! Thousands of men lie at the bottom of the ocean, and thousands more are still trapped underneath brick and dust... so we mourn. But when we mourn, we know in our hearts, that this ultimate act of total war shall not go unpunished!"

The crowd cheered fiercely, with young men throwing military salutes all throughout the plaza. Krige looked to these men and pointed his long and bony finger at them, causing even more hysterics to overtake the section.

"YOU THERE! YOUTH OF AFRIKAANZA! Our noble heroes in this time of need! I call upon you to bring ORDER to these abominations! To bring UNITY to our nation! And to WORK these defilers of Afrikaanza to the very grave! Because if there's something we Afrikaanzans know well, it's a good fight! So here I stand, calling upon you and every true Afrikaanzan to make a stand and ENLIST TODAY! The sooner YOU ENLIST, the sooner we will be STORMING across the beaches and giving that rat-faced inbred Innoki the treatment he deserves! Alongside us, our great friends the Bearstinians have also faced this same Carinian bombardment, and to them our hearts go out. May their VENGEANCE be as BRUTAL as ours! And for our vengeance to truly be a reckonable force, I ask only three things of you!

ONE!
For all you true Afrikaanzans of the world, to enlist immediately! With your fist, we shall relay the message well!

TWO!
For the working Afrikaanzan to give his heart to his work! For if you find yourself among the hardest working patriots and comrades, Afrikaanza will give her heart to you!

and THREE!
For every Afrikaanzan listening out there to be vigilant, and prepare for a time of STRENGTH against the horrors of war we will unleash on these dogs!

And with that, I shall conclude my message to you... but know that this will be only the beginning! In these times of total war, we will emerge VICTORIOUS!"

The crowd threw flowers into the air of the plaza as King Krige pushed away from the podium. Those who were present at the plaza, were given the immediate option to enlist via several booths located at each exit. Though the people were loud, their cries and cheers were muffled to the ears of King Krige. He looked back at them for a brief moment, then began walking slowly away from the balcony, right when a hand stopped him at the door. General Orowitz leaned over and spoke into his ears,
"The Carinians have instilled a draft into place, and are retreating back to fortify their homes. We await your orders...".
Krige looked fiercely at the General and replied with,
"Whatever rate they're drafting at, double it for us. Recruit convicts if you need to. Send them on ships directly from Providence and Haakbaai as soon as you can, make sure we outnumber them 2-1. I will be promoting a new General in command to help oversee the option as well. Do your job and make sure these bastards pay, Orowitz. Afrikaanza is in your hands". General Orowitz removed his hand from the King, and gave a tearful salute to his supreme commander. He would give them hell, he would give ALL of them hell.

===============================================================

Harwinsburg Royal Plaza, Afrikaanza
A young blonde haired man stood in line for the quick recruitment process taking place outside the Royal Palace, behind a winding line of several hundred men waiting to join up with the Afrikaanzan Imperial Army. Though many of these men joined out of pride or career or duty, this man in particular was motivated by hatred. Hatred seeped through every pore in his skin, but not hatred for the Carinians or Immobilians... but rather a hatred of a different kind.

"So then, you're gonna be a killer huh?", his mother cackled in a tone masked with a twisted and risible intent.
"Well then killer, whatcha gonna be killin'? Gas at a gas pump?" she continued.
But in spite of this humiliating barrage the boy stood strong, albeit silent. His father attempted to speak up for him,
"Leave the boy alone-" he started, but was cut off by the sound of his wife's hand marking across his face. His father backed off from her, fearful of the woman he had once loved. By leaving the room, the boy had lost all respect that he had once developed for his father. The boy balled up his fist alone, and looked his mother in the eyes with a cold and unforgiving glare which drove itself straight into her psyche.
"Don't you look at me like that", she started, but the boy kept his grit and continued glaring. "DON'T YOU LOOK AT ME!" she screamed with wrath, as she sent a plate from the nearby kitchen cabinet hurdling towards the young boy. The next thing he remembered was the sensation of pain and a dark liquid seeping right below the bottom part of his left eye.

When he finally came back to his senses, the boy noticed he had been staring at the ground while unconsciously feeling the fresh scar which blemished under his eye. When he looked up, he noticed he was finally at the front of the line. The recruiter smiled at him, and asked the boy for his name.
The boy politely responded, "Aldo Caldwell, sir".
The recruiter smiled at Aldo and handed him a form of commitment.
"Well there Aldo, sign this contract and I can make sure you're in training within a week, provided you pass the physical... but as a young man like you, I'm sure you'll pass! After you sign this form, go on home and we'll assign you a date in the mail".
Aldo frowned at the recruiter,
"I can't wait a week sir", he replied.
"And why's that?"
"Because sir, I ain't got no home to go back to".
The recruiter adorned a look of sympathy for the boy. Although he was curious, he didn't ask any further. Instead, he replaced the contract with a separate contract, explaining that this one would get him in by the next day. Aldo gladly signed the contract and thanked the recruiter after being directed to a military truck nearby. As he boarded the truck, he looked back towards his old life that he had gotten so accustomed to... and spat at it.

Three days later, Private Caldwell stood at attention in formation, looking straight ahead as his drill instructor grabbed the bottom of his chin and screamed at him, "ARE YOU A KILLER?!".
Aldo's face became twisted, his teeth peering out from his yelling face in an almost bloodthirsty and vampiric fashion. In a viscous reply, he roared out,

"SIR YES SIR!"
