Your Leader's Nickname

Postby The Azaes » Sat Jul 22, 2017 11:33 am

Does your leader have a nickname? why are they called this? is it used positively or mockingly?

The Emperor's is often lovingly called "Tries Alphos", meaning three A's, as his initials are three A's. The Emperor is quite fond of the nickname, sometimes even referring to himself as "Tries Alphos".

The opposition party leaders affectionately refer to President Badakulos as "limp-dick horse face."

Since my leader's last name is Ben Abbes, he's often nicknamed as "Abby", which he hates.

"Amy" or "Holly" are the most common. She prefers the latter, but doesn't mind either.

President Fish doesn't have any nicknames, though he is sometimes known as the "Fish With No Name".

Prime Minister Schuyler Marmish is known as "Sky".

General Marie-Louise Castro-Stalina is affectionately known by her troops as "Blondie". Her radio call sign is "Goldilocks". Her brothers call her "Kid" and her father calls her "Short Ribs".

Alphonse's childhood nickname was "Fluffy". He used it in the recent Presidential election with less-than-spectacular success. He is also known as "Scarfoot" because of a bite that he got in a fight with a turtle. He doesn't like being called "Feathers".

While Landon Meyer has never received any major nicknames, presidents Paul v.d Krig and Alexander Christiansen received many nicknames. Krig's most famous one was Van Der Krieg, the German word for war. He gained this after a German media outlet mispronounced his name while covering his visit to Sahrajafa during the insurgency, stating: "Unter dem Krieg besuchte der Prasident Paul van der Krieg die kleine Stadt Muabarak..." The nickname became a slur of sorts, used by many who opposed the war in the Arab councils. Alexander Christiansen also received nicknames, the most well known being Alexander not-so-Christian-sen, given to him by People's Party and UKP supporters for his secular attitude.

President Maxanis's first name, "Yvennex," is often shortened to sound like the last syllable - "Nex." It's been spelled Nex, Nyx, and Nix. They don't seem to care very much about the nickname.

Liana Vescovi, the Chief Director of the National Council and Director for Finance, is often called "Mrs. Markets" due to her pro-market beliefs.
Jenný Anadottir, the Director for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade is often called "The Queen of Peace" in reference to her strongly pacifist beliefs.
Saria De Quintus, the Director for Justice and Police, is often called "The Iron Lady" due to her uncompromising and tough personality.
Arthur Troelsen, the Director for Education, Research and Healthcare, is often called "Comrade Troelsen" due to his staunch left-wing beliefs.

The four of them are generally accepting of their nicknames, and are known to consider them amusing.

No nickname has developed yet for Alfredo Gabbascia, Natalia La Blanc or Rikard Steinsson.

King Yitzchak I has a number of nicknames, the most common of which is the 'Lion of Judah.' Sometimes referred to as 'Yitzchak the Wise' or 'Yitzchak the Just' by his friends and allies. He is sometimes derided as 'Yitzchak the Permissive' by opponents in the realm who oppose his policy of safe conduct for Christian and Muslim pilgrims. Among non-Jews, he sometimes called 'Isaac the Jew' or 'Isaac the Hebrew', alluding to his status as the only Jewish king. Since he formed his compact with Pope Leo VII, he has often been called the 'Shield of the Jews' or the 'Shield of David' (the latter coming from the fact that royal genealogists have traced his line back to King David).

The only nickname Prime Minister Semenov has is 'Nicky', which simply comes from the fact that his first name is Nikolai. The nickname is used by his close friends and family as well as everyday citizens.

Within Zhouranese military social circles, many call Senior Marshal Kang Yingyong by his nickname "War Hound" due to his experience as a field commander in which he would send troops to the field and hunt down enemy combatants in clean-up operations. Kang Yingyong himself personally dislikes the nickname since he finds it a little aggressive, especially because the clean-up operations he commanded were pretty brutal.

Meanwhile, many of his supporters affectionately call him "Father Yingyong" or simply "Father" since they seem him as a father figure for the nation. However, Kang Yingyong also dislikes this nickname since it implies that a cult of personality surrounds him.

Our current President's nickname is a derivitive of a historical Chadtonian joke. in Historical Chadtonian Chee la la jee is an expression that roughly means "If she/he can't do it, no one can." Thus it's not uncommon to hear a citizen say "President She la la jee" in reference to President Sheila Abernathy. In Chadtonian Culture this joke often permeates everyday life. For example, if you take your car to a mechanic and ask "Can you fix my car?" You might hear "President She la la jee," Which means "Absolutely!" This expression is always used in the affirmative. Likewise, former President Greenbuckle's last name has become a derogatory negative. If you hear a Chadtonian say "Aya Greenbuckle!" This has a similar connotation as "F*** no!" It is suggested that tourists don't use either expression, because Chadtonian Culture is very tribal. Where it may be appropriate in one community, it may be inappropriate in another. This is why we have a saying:

"Doubta when nu Tikinuan nu" Meaning, "When in doubt do as the Tikinuan tribe does."
"Yubba gofthey burqa nit"-- Emperor Chad the Second in Historical Chadtonian.

As a wanted fugitive, Secretary General Taylor used the alias Edward Thatch, after the notorious pirate which is when he began to be known by the nickname Blackbeard. He was also refereed to by the CIA by the First Horseman, which would later become a nickname of his. It was also common to see him called The Blue Collar Messiah.

Family and close friends often refer to him by a degree of less ominous nicknames, mostly variations of his name, including Jamesy, Tate, or Big Tay. He tries not be let people refer to him like this in public, though.
