What is your political affiliation?

Postby Waldriech » Fri Jul 21, 2017 12:41 pm

I'm interested in the political affiliations of the players of NationStates. I would of added more choices or and "Other" choice, but you only alloed to add ten possibilities to the poll, so if you affiliate with something else, pick the closest ideology and reply with what you actually believe.

I am an Anarcho-Capitalist which means I believe that there "Is no government, like NO government." The market should be totally free, public services like roads, police, military etc. should be privatized. The only law should be natural law, you should be free to do whatever you want unless you hurt another person or their property, victimless crimes such as drug use should not be crimes at all. etc.

I'm a Social Liberal. I had to pick neo-liberal because it's the closest to what I am.

I'm not a libertarian in it's current, modern sense, however, if you were to 'classify' me as anything, I guess you could call me a Skeptical Libertarian.

I don't really know, honestly. I'm open-minded and like elements of both left and right-wing politics, but there isn't really a specific ideology I subscribe to. I guess I'm too wishy-washy. If I had to choose between America's Democrats and Republicans, I'd go with the Republicans, but they both have major problems.

I don't know. I'm probably not going to make a very good adult.

I'm a social democrat, what some people would (inaccurately) call a "democratic socialist." I'm a member of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Economically, I support high taxes on the rich and government regulation of the economy. Socially, I am fairly libertarian except for things that concern the public health and safety, like guns and vaccinations, meaning I am not very libertarian on those issues.

EDIT: Also a green.

I identify as a green and as a left-leaning centrist. I am a registered Democrat and voted for Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton in the 2016 US Presidential election. Out of the options listed, I agree most with social democracy, neo-liberalism, libertarianism, and paleoconservatism in that order.

Out of the options listed, I'm closest to a Marxist-Leninist. Socialism requires a sound theory of implementation in order to work, and only states adhering to Marxism-Leninism have ever achieved this for any meaningful period of time.

Centrist Libertarian.
Most of the time I have no idea what the hell I'm doing or talking about.

”Many forms of government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe.
No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is
the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried from time to time." -
Winston Churchill, 1947.

"Rifles, muskets, long-bows and hand-grenades are inherently democratic weapons. A complex weapon makes the strong stronger, while a simple weapon – so long as there is no answer to it – gives claws to the weak.” - George Orwell

Left Libertarian. I'm not certain where exactly the vote would go. Strongly socially libertarian, believe in extensive liberties and personal determination. I don't generally see the idea of "Taxation is theft" a's is often said by my more right wing peers. In my opinion taxation is a perfectly legitimate part of the social contract, and so long as the tax money is used in a legitimate part of the social contract. For this reason I advocate social programs that meet wide spread needs, food, housing, medical care, roads, environmental, basic education, etc. However, I oppose social programs that aim to fill a niche need, or a want, such as abortion funding, tuition assistance for advanced education, religious institutions, limited scope public facilities, etc.
