Introducing the Committee By-Elections!

With the unexpected and unfortunate resignation of Mister X from the Committee due to personal reasons and differences in vision, we are holding by-elections to fill his spot. Any player who has participated in WV57 and was not disqualified is eligible. To apply, post your intent to do so in this thread- a statement/manifesto of who you are/what you intend for this contest is optional but definitely recommended.

Elections will be held at the same time as host voting, and anyone who has successfully participated in a WorldVision contest may vote.

A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You won't be penalized if you sign up and don’t end up posting a song. You then post the song in the IC thread after a host vote (see previous contests to see what a "normal" post looks like).
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory, and other languages are encouraged.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the Committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one edition in order to qualify to host a following edition. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the Committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if you do so and don't finish your entry by the deadline, you will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalized or not.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee. If you'd like to edit something in after the deadline, please ask the Committee for permission first.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Goluta, Kalosia, Ethane, Todlichebujoku, and Normandy and Picardy) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Well, I sign up.

God, I'm going to have to get used to non-committee status...

Er, anyway. I won't do two joke entries and I retain serious stuff with Mister X, looking to win (it never happens). I'll enter, er, "Lost In The Darkness Of Mind" by the returning Sam Smith. The tune will be "3am" by Busted.

Norjihan Enters WorldVision Song Contest

Today, Director of NF (Njœkugzeefud Fasaamenjœ, 'Norjihani Television', the national state broadcaster) Gynud Junasö announced at a press conference in Hajenired that Norjihan will enter the 58th WorldVision Song Contest (OOC: It's me, Normandy and Picardy, just under a new name. I'm retiring Normandy and Picardy from WV, but they will remain in WHF). The decision has come to a surprise, but is seen as part of Mr Junasö's general scheme to promote Norjihani culture and to bring international programmes to a Norjihani audience.

The representative for Norjihan will be Jula Pönaa, a 24 year old singer-songwriter from Tuuhajen (pictured above) who will sing Ëvajeen ('Waves'). No more details were given.

That now means I have two joke entries for Rick Leg to perform. That in turn means it's a welcome return for...

WHAT THE FUCK AM I GOING TO SING?

01: "I Fucked Them All"
Tune: DJ Sayonara feat. Kimi Raikkonen - "I Hit The Wall"

02: "No, No, No, No, No"
Tune: Theme from Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow (0:00 to 0:54 only)

03: "Fuckety Fuck"
Tune: Theme from Lily Savage's Blankety Blank

Telegram what Rick Leg should sing to MISTER X. Mister X. Not Missus X. Mister X.

Lines close when host voting starts. Do not telegram when lines close otherwise your vote won't count and you may be charged.

"Welcome to Izmepisma. 9 songs have been chosen out of a field of hundreds waiting for their shot at Izmedu's WorldVision baton, but only one song can remain standing"

Many Izmeduan pundits declared it as a matter of time, but with the final tally of WorldVision 57's results, Izmepisma sees its top 5 streak snapped with Tamara K. scoring a respectable but slightly disappointing 11th place for the country. While the recent dip in results shows that the national final's low point still performed better than RTI's internal selections, the hype bubble surrounding Tamara K. and Izmepisma popped. Thus, RTI was at a crossroads. The historical performance of the national final format was considered strongly as its fate was determined, and Izmepisma was renewed but with a much different mission statement and a far different fervor to the proceedings. This time, RTI expressly wanted songs that both re-affirmed Izmedu's classic style in the contest and broke new barriers for the country.

RTI aggressively marketed Izmepisma after the end of WorldVision 57, encouraging artists far and wide within the country to apply. Due to this push, a record-breaking 3000 songs were sent to RTI for consideration, many vying to help Izmedu reach the upper echelons of the scoreboard once again. Newcomers and returnees both returned with equal fervor. Controversial cuts had to be made before even the live shows started, and there was an increased excitement domestically over who would represent Izmedu. After two intense rounds of televoting only semi-finals, 9 songs now stand before you to comprise the grand final of this edition's Izmepisma.

THE OFFCIAL PLAYLIST FOR IZMEPISMA

Song #1
Jakov Jonjic ft. Lara Ivanisevic - This Is The End
Tune: NF ft. Britt Nicole - Can You Hold Me

Song #8
Anica Sabalj - Blažem
Translation: I Wish
Tune: Maja Keuc - Close To You

Song #9
Marina Antolic ft. Zvonko Repar - Absolution
Tune: Sia ft. Labrinth - To Be Human

International juries will vote by ranking their top 7 songs in the following format. 12 points to their favorite, 10 to their 2nd, 8 to their 3rd, then 6, 4, 2, and 1 points for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively. Your least favorite 2 songs will not receive any votes. To vote, simply send a TG to Izmedu with the format (and if you have a national final, let me know and I will vote for yours in return).

The final result of Izmepisma will be determined through a 50/50 split of the international jury and public vote. The amount of points that the public will give out will be determined by how many international juries vote for the national final.

Shortly after the end of the 57th Worldvision Song Contest in Britonisea, The Allied States of Polkopia finished with 61 points, securing an 8th place finish. For the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest, the PNB has opted to select their entry via national final, as per usual. The Landa vy Polkopiya, which has served as Polkopia's National Final for several editions now, will continue to be the medium for which Polkopia's entrant and song is selected. The entry which placed second in the previous LvP automatically secured a spot in the Grand Final of the contest. Inga will perform her song, I'll Never Know, once again, hoping to represent Polkipia on the international stage in Worldvision. The PNB calls on the international jurors to submit their votes, in the traditional Worldvision format (12 points to your favorite, 10 to your 2nd favorite, 8-1 points for the rest).

Hello!

Natanya has decided to return to the competition with winner of TNS, Ysamo Awora Worono-Loryr, coming to sing her song 'Rainbows'. Which is to the tune of Jose Gonzalez's Heartbeats.

And this time I won't be a minute late past the posting deadline..... hopefully.

did our first shindig in this thing, we want in again. this time around, we'll sign-up earlier cause we don't want any of those fools from our master's national final

entry to be revealed when we post our stuff on the ic.

get ready for some vintage snakes, that's the only clue ;)
