Literally just minutes ago US Representative Steve Scalise was shot in Virginia at a baseball game. Two police officers have been shot as well.

It was a Congressional Baseball Team practice session. A suspect with a "long gun", believed to have been killed, fired 50-100 rounds onto the players (members or staff of Congress) and also the security detail.

So, seems explicitly targeted.

With as little information as we have the best thing I can say is that I hope Scalise will make a full recovery and that the gunman is found and put through the proper judicial protocol. Again not a whole lot I can really say at the moment because I'm. IT aware of the mans motives weather this is attention seeking in the most psychotic form , politically motivated (my personal belief but I have no evidence to back it up yet), or possibly even terrorism.

The shooter was apparently on the pitch itself, as he opened fire from "behind the dugout, and used it for cover".

How he was able to make it to that position armed with a rifle will be an interesting question, but obviously if he was wounded, fell and then arrested, Mr Lee may have assumed he was killed.

After all, the sole source for "dead" atm seems to be, him sending a text message to someone at Fox.
