Today is January 1st, 2027. Perhaps I can tell you about what happened that led to today.
On 2013, after the death of dictator Kim Jong-il, his third son, Kim Jong-un rose to the throne of DPRK, and China, sensing that the new leader was friendlier, more approachable, and more willing to aid DPRK and seeing that the renegade actions of his father on the use of nuclear was too much to handle decided to reformed DPRK through some decisions, though the consequences of these decisions were much more hurtful. The unification attempt was finished between the two Korean states with the aid of China and USA, with both of them given the Nobel Peace Prize on 2016 for the past three years of efforts.
However, it went from good, to bad, and then to worse.
Came May 2017, and the eventual crisis of ISIS was too much that now the entire Middle East had been plunged into the war, culminating in the two nuclear strikes at the decisions of United States of America on both Iraq and Syria, generated too many angriness from Muslims worldwide and Russia and Iran, both being Syria's closest allies. Trade were even more affected with the last-ditch efforts of ISIS strikes on Europe, assassinated half of European leaders including several prominent French, Germans, and British political and military figures. ISIS was then vanquished forever two years later on 2019 with the unified joint-operated Operation Demonslayer, but by then the damage had been done.
USA was faced with oil and energy embargo from the Middle East and Russia, and despite their own resources, finally succumbed to the civil war on 2020 inside the USA itself as both sides, loyal to the President and those who deemed his decisions to sent nuclear was the worst decision ever. At the same time, the unified Korea developed its own nuclear missiles with Japan doing the same thing as they realized USA was no longer the protector of the world, and China gearing up his military. On 2022, China invaded Indochina on the basis of establishing its own vassal states, with Korea and Japan embroiled in a short-period of war that was followed with major invasion from China as well. It was then revealed the conspiracy behind the unified Korea, where China and the Kim family influenced and established strong regimes behind the back of the world and Korea itself.
As of 2025, China and Korea sent in their forces to invade USA from sea and land, with EMP strikes and assaults from Russian special forces who aided the Chinese-Koreans and tackled down those who they deemed as important and not going to backed down. It took them two years and two nuclear strikes at Washington D.C and San Fransisco to forced the USA to its knees, where China and Korea moved in their forces and establishing the "People's Republic of America" as the new puppet nation. Neighboring nations attempted to stayed neutral, but so far became embroiled in the war themselves, as United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, Mexico, France, and Germany faced off Russia, China, Korea, and some South America nations who aligned with them.
It's 2027, and beside from strong resistance from the remnants of civil war troops and U.S Army, all resistance are eliminated. Now, it comes to you and your comrades, whether you are foreigners who stranded in the country during the invasion, Americans, or even defecting troops and civilians from the invading nations, you have been recruited by the Manhattan Resistance, one of the last resistance cell that still active to mount up resistances.
