Let me be honest, Machiavellian it may be, I ended up laughing for about hour at the disaster that is the Fyre (as in Fire) “Luxury” Music Festival in the Bahamas, which was cancelled at the last minute, but not before thousands of festival-goers had already arrived on the island.

Meanwhile, the Frye (as in Herman Northrop Frye) Literary Festival of Moncton Canada, which sounds like Fyre, and takes place around the same time, has been getting all the rap for McFarland’s mess-up.

Not to be confused with the Fyra High-Speed Train Service (aka Aldi-Trein), which was also a disaster.

All complaints go to Ja Rule and entrepreneur Billy McFarland, not the Moncton Public Library.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think that this was down to poor management, or is this just an outright scam?

Ja Rule's plan was to sell the Capitalists tickets to the gulag. Pure genius! Viva la Marxist-Leninist-Ja-Rulism!

On a serious note, I think this was all just down to inexperienced management. I can't remember the source of this, but I will try to find it, I read somewhere that the management fired the entire staff team multiple times in the lead up to the event. That usually isn't a sign of competence and organization.

I think it's partly laughing at rich kids and partly how screwed they are. Usually when music festivals or whatever are cancelled people turn around and go home, or never leave home in the first place because it was cancelled days, weeks, months, whatever in advance. Or so I assume. But this lot are in a foreign country with nothing but the clothes on their backs and, apparently, their phones.

Yes, of course. Depressed rich people do not create jobs, they just sit around drinking expensive alcohol and crying. We need to reform the American tax laws so people who are worth a lot of money are given more money by the government. Full employment FTW!

I was astonished about how the music festival actually turned out, considering the fact that I am not into music festivals as much as the modern generation. The only one I know is Glastonbury, and as far as I know they put a good effort into it (including taking breaks for the meadows to recover).
