Should Weed be Legalized Recreationally

Postby Stonerz » Wed Apr 26, 2017 9:08 am

I strongly believe weed should be legalized for recreational use all around the globe. While authoritarian people are against weed because of its effects on employment and the average intelligence, these are both false. The only reason why it has effects on employment is because workers are caught smoking and being fired. If it was legalized, then this wouldn't happen and employment rates for that group of people would go back up.

Definitely. Government's got no right to tell me what plants I can and can't use.

You're posting this thread on a forum full of stoners.

Take a wild guess what kind of response you'll get.

Haha you got a point. But I want to know why the people that are against it believe it should be illegal.

I'm pretty sure they'd still be fired because you can't smoke during most jobs. Or text.

But it should definitely be legal

The only argument I've heard my friends use against it is that it's a "gateway drug".
I do not think that is true. I'm pretty sure it does the opposite. Weed is a lot better than cigarettes, it's a good replacement for tobacco smokers.

I think it should be legalized, however I voted against it on our state ballot.

Here is a compelling argument to all the non-stoners of the world: If weed is legal your pothead friends will no longer tell you how weed should be legal. Eh? Wouldn't that be awesome?

"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Yes. It all started due to racism and propaganda and it has gotten nowhere. Drugs are still a massive problem(not including weed) and like half of the DEA/police force in it's entirety is corrupt.

It's like we looked at prohibition, saw it didn't work, and learned nothing from it

Yes, for sure. Definitely not harder drugs, but the government should legalize the usage of marijuana recreationally and medically, yes.

More addictive, more harmful to the body, not relevant to religion, no health benefits whatsoever.

If we legalize it people can seek help rather then get thrown in jail

I'm against plenty of things, including Weed.
We need stricter enforcement on drugs.

I'd oppose it. Tons of people would rush to smoke it (to look edge) and then the smell of pot in my neighborhood will rise exponentially.
