Mycenaean Greece vs Tartarus - Interest Thread

Postby Senata Populus Que Caelum » Tue Apr 25, 2017 9:10 pm

So I've had an idea for a character based campaign set at the end of the Greek Bronze Age in which the evils of Tartarus escape and attempt to take over the mortal world. By coming here, they in turn become mortal and an epic war ensues between the Greek kingdoms and the evils of Tartarus. It will be vaguely based on Greek Mythology but it's more the principle than any exact in depth references to mythology. If I get 3 or more players willing to stick it out for more than a handful of IC posts then I'll make a proper thread with apps and the whole bit. Below is a brief description of the entire affair:

Map

“In 1250 BC, the first wave of destruction occurred in various centers of mainland
Greece. In Boeotia, Thebes was burned to the ground, around that year or slightly later. Nearby Orchomenos shared the same fate, while the Boeotian fortifications of Gla were deserted. In the Peloponnese, a number of buildings surrounding the citadel of Mycenae were attacked and burned.

These incidents appear to have prompted the massive strengthening and expansion of the fortifications in various sites. In some cases, arrangements were also made for the creation of subterranean passages which led to underground cisterns. Tiryns, Midea and
Athens expanded their defences with new cyclopean-style walls. The extension program in Mycenae almost doubled the fortified area of the citadel.

None of the defence measures appear to have prevented the final destruction and collapse of the Mycenaean states... for reasons that cannot be identified by archaeologists.”

You are young officers in the Mycenaean Royal Guard. Elites both in rank and action. Your King, Agamemnon, has sent you to the allied Kingdom of Orchomenos, across the Gulf of Corinth. The Kings of the region have called their banners and are gathering their armies. A messenger from Orchomenos came down, pleading with Agamemnon to draw up his armies and march north to join forces. In turn Agamemnon has sent you and thirty of the Royal Guard with a messenger, ahead of the King’s Army, to tell the King of Orchomenos that Mycenae will join forces.
