Personally, I understand the struggles of the LGBT community and sympathize with them, but I do feel that this whole gender identity thing is being blown out of proportion.

There's also a great myriad of debate in feminist circles about to what degree people can actually choose these things. It's only the truly fringe radfems who would claim, for example, you cannot realistically choose to have sex for money and that you cannot choose to wear and practice makeup, because doing so is fundamentally legitimising the enforced gender norms and roles.

Few feminists overall would seriously try and claim that the choice to use makeup is somehow "antifeminism" or misogynist - though that doesn't mean that company employment regulations, or "men" in society (#NotAll) and indeed the beautification industry that sells these products to women might be acting - consciously or unconsciously - in an antifeminist, or misogynist manner.

It is society that "enforces" gender stereotypes. People who participate in these stereotype activities run the supposed risk of "legitimising" those stereotypes - but such a view is an incredibly slippery slope.

I consider myself a feminist. I agree that people should wear however much makeup that they want, or none at all, it's not my business... and if they want to adopt their "roles" and wear dresses then that's their life. But I won't think to myself "look, a woman". I'll think to myself "oh, their personality makes them like that kind of fashion, and that's ok." I don't see how your sex has anything to do with your personality, and I don't like the fact that it can generalize an entire half of the population.
