Overview
The year is 1820. George III has died, and the sun is beginning to rise on the British Empire. But this story focuses on the small town of Dempsey, out in the countryside in England. The Industrial Revolution is entering the town, bit by bit. Meanwhile, Richard Dempsey, the Earl of Dempsey, is aging, and with no reasonable heir, the Earls will die with him. Now, the town is divided between the Chester family, a more conservative family hoping to keep things the way they are, and the Moray family, a more liberal family hoping to modernize Dempsey. They are both in a deep rivalry over who will get control after Dempsey's death. Which the town's future at stake, whose side will you join?
Dempsey
Dempsey is a small town in central England. It is pretty isolated from the rest of the world, and has largely not changed that much since it was constructed in the 12th century. However, the actions of your characters can change that. If your characters gain a major victory, then that will visibly affect the town, and will affect the roleplay down the line. Keep in mind that while trying to institute the changes you want, other people will be working against you. That's the challenge of the RP.
The town's main layout won't change. The main road is in the center. This is where most of the common people live and the shops are run. To the north, at the end of the main street, is the Dempsey manor. To the west and east are the Chesters and Morays, respectively, and to the south, there are open pastures and farmlands that would make fine places for factories and railroads, if people manage to make that happen. To the southeast is a watermill that processes grain, and to the southwest is the path that leads to Dempsey.
The Rules

2. Keep this RP PG-13. No excessive blood/gore, swearing, nudity, ect.
3. No god-modding.
4. No thread-jacking. If you happen to have a drawn out argument over something, then do it by TG.
5. If you want to add new concepts to this RP, by any means, telegram me.
6. I will appoint one or two CO-OP's. In general, their rule is law, unless I happen to overrule them.
7. I can add more rules if I feel it is necessary.

Appearance: White hair, frail, pale, always wearing a suit with a top hat, carries a cane to help him walk.

Strengths: Very smart, cunning and charismatic.
Weaknesses: Because of his age, he isn't that strong or fast.
Hobbies: Hunting, playing chess, taking strolls around Dempsey.
Bio: Earl Richard Dempsey was born on October 18, 1743. He led a pretty comfortable lifestyle, and grew up to idolize his father, Henry Dempsey. In 1768, when he was 25, he was elected to Parliament, where he served dutifully. He succeeded in his job, and was re-elected in the next four elections. In 1784, with his father sick, he returned to Dempsey to treat his father. In 1787, when Richard was 44, his father finally died. Grief-stricken, Richard began administrating Dempsey.
In the past 33 years, nothing has happpened of interest. However, Richard never married, and never had any heirs, and he knows that when he dies, the Earls of Dempsey will die along with him. Meanwhile, he is caught between the middle of the Chesters and the Morays, who are literally tearing the town apart.
