Year 2000 (it's just a number, OK?), a showdown occurred between the socialists and capitalists. The largest socialist nation, the Union of Alfa Socialist Republics (USAR) and the largest capitalist nation, the United States of Sierra (USS) had gone to war.

January 1 - The UASR invaded the USS, in the name of "liberation".
