Sorry Hodori! As great a host as you'd be it'd be unfair to stop the vote right now. Hold off until next time.

Hey, you missed out on WGPC but this is a different competition. It's actually a lower league series to develop young drivers for the main one. You can still sign up for this once the signup thread goes up, which should be about next week I believe.

Ah. It's okay, gives me time to further test my scorinators. I'll hold onto my draft if ROB manages to win in the meantime.

Former Citizens of the Nimbus System wrote:I did have an idea to do with how the scorinator could simulate pit stops and tyre strategy before realising that that those things are hugely, hugely situational and thus almost impossible for teams to make realistic judgments on.

My GTScorinator in a way does this. I originally built the GTScorinator for my domestic GT series, which is based on the Japanese Super GT championship. From the HY167 incarnation onward, it divides the race into 'stints', and within a determined window generates a pit lap where tyre wear is reset and if multiple drivers are involved switches from one to the next in the sequence. It still doesn't account for the effect of tyre wear in laptime calculations, but I don't think I have anything lower in priority than making GTScorinator simulate that and with the range of times generated by a driver I don't think it needs to.

We've not had a great deal of votes come through yet so I've cheekily edited the OP. Voting information is here.

Given it's 1 am in the UK, perhaps give EFL some time to get everything ready?

Congrats to EFL, I'm a little relieved because I won't have the pressure of being a first time host.

On another note I'm confirming right now that Corsa Axalt will sign Armo Lehto, but I'm also taking TG applications for a foreign driver to join the team with equal status after competing in a trial held during the negotiation period.

Thanks for giving me this responsibility, guys and gals. I'll get the signup thread up in the next couple of days.

I'll have the signup thread open for a couple of days for people to start posting their applications before I open the IC thread - that's where all the team negotiations, RPs, results and so on go.

Hello again, racers!

I announced, a few days ago, that the signup thread for WGP2 would arrive this weekend. I realised, though, that I can't really run a signup thread without a host. For example, it's perfectly acceptable for a host to use V1 of The Racing Scorinator instead of the recently-released V2 (though I wouldn't recommend it). They could also use Xkoranate if they desired. It's much quicker, if not as powerful. As such, we can't really do signups until we know what information we'll need from each signee.

For the new scorinator, there's the fact that we have the option to use the 'experience' parameter, which is a the closest that the WGPC will get to having rankings. If the host wants to use this, that's cool. If not, that's cool. It'll also be the host's decision whether or not to demand each signup posts their driver's experience points (which will require each user to work it out) or post evidence of previous racing competitions entered, from which the host can extrapolate the data.

Info on how experience points work can be found here. The very very short version is that a driver's most recent WGPC season determines how many experience points they get, and a team gets more experience points the more years they enter themselves into competitions.

For now, discussion of how/when WGP2 could work should go in this thread. Anyone wanting to bid to host WGP2 should post their bid in this thread. If we can get the host sorted by the end of May that'd be great. WGP2 can start at any point after the WGPC season ends.

Also, anyone with questions about WGPC Tier 3 can ask them here. I'll work on editing the OP of this thread to include general information about WGP2 and WGPC Tier 3.

As with the first WGP2 I'd rather not take the lead in organizing this one, as I'm already a little burned out from WGPC. I'll let the community decide how stuff should be done.

Cheers,

Audio

For anyone whose read the WGPC OOC thread it goes without saying I'm definitely interested in a second season of WGP2. I was quite distant from competition last year, but I'd support EFL if he were to run for the host role again.

Just as a mention I’d also like that, I do want to host something but I should probably do a Tier 3 championship first.

(So I probably will, once I finish this school year.)

Please, someone take the reins! I'd love for this season to go ahead! I don't want to scorinate not because I don't think I wouldn't be able to, but I don't trust myself enough to not make mistakes every weekend/keep to a schedule.

What is the workload to said tournament - is it similar to an Olympics? A World Cup cycle?

The main WGPC championship has races scorinated every weekend, with practice and qualifying results posted on Friday and the race results on Sunday. It usually lasts three months.

I can't recall how the inaugural season of WGP2 was done, but the schedule can be slightly flexible. There could be a free weekend, or two races in one week, or a midweek scorination. The amount of events and therefore the length of the tournament can vary, too.

I did the inaugural season in the same manner as WGPC15 - practice results on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and race on Sunday (where I remembered to, IIRC I was pretty inconsistent with my running of things).

Posting results inconsistently is a pretty normal thing for running this type of championship.

I think, on the whole, people seem to be suggesting they'd rather run a version of WGP3 before WGP2. Makes total sense. I'd be happy for WGP2 to be done later in the year when everyone's a bit more comfortable with their scorinators. There's no real time-limit here, apart from 'maybe try to finish it before January'.

There'll be a couple of new WGPO Motorsports thread coming up over the next few days. One RP and results thread for WGP3 and one OOC thread for all WGPC competitions. That should replace the current tactic of using the signups thread for a competition as it's OOC thread.

Results for the final WGPC16 race will be in a couple of hours. Good luck everyone!
