Gotham: The Dark Night Begins (OOC)

Gotham it is not the city you remember. Its history is different then the one you are familiar with, with some similarities. Thomas and Martha Wayne were murder after they attended the Opera. But they never had a child, to become its guardian, and in turn Gotham continued to dwell in darkness, corruption and crime for years. The police, at least those not in various gangsters pockets, kept Gotham from the brink of anarchy but the seawall can only hold so much back before it fails. And tonight the walls will crumble, those blimps of lights will go out and Gotham will plunge into darkness, unless there are those willing to protect them in Gotham's hour of need. Everyone prepare, the Dark Night begins...


Few things to note -
Batman doesn't exist, so in turn the Joker doesn't exist.
Wayne Manor has been in disrepair for many years, also there is no batcave under it besides an actual cave of bats.
You can become canon villains and heroes of Gotham with the exception of the Batfamily. Villains will be judge on a case by case basis, if their origins involve batman they will need to be changed in order to fit the history.
Wayne Enterprises have been on the decline since Thomas Wayne's death allowing other companies to move into Gotham.
Arkham Asylum still exists.

Appearance: Stands a stocky 6'3. Graying brown hair, with the typical push-broom cop mustache. Grey eyes. Has "Hard Luck" tattooed on fingers. When patrolling as Vigilant, he wears a purposely ragged looking uniform and conceals his face behind a metal skull mask.

Personality: Slightly exasperated pretty much all the time. A decade as a GCPD cop has kind of killed what little sense of humor he had. Has no tolerance for whiners.

Bio: Wilbur Knox is your typical story of the GCPD. Came in hoping to make a difference. Instead he was underpaid, underappreciated and overworked by the seedy cesspool that is Gotham City. Not to mention being shot 3 times in the line of duty. Through it all, Wilbur soldiered on and did what little he could. Until that fateful night on the docks. Catching what he thought was a typical bunch of crooks doing what they do, Wilbur was shocked to see several GCPD officers (Including his own partner and precinct sergeant) accepting a bribe to look the other way on a human smuggling operation. A regular cop couldn't fix this problem. The next day, Wilbur handed in his resignation and left the precinct for good. Officer Wilbur Knox was no more. The city didn't need him. They needed someone righteous. Someone not afraid to do what regular cops couldn't do. They needed someone...Vigilant.

Theme: A sort of spectral cop/spirit of vengeance motif. Complete with a modified patrol car painted jet black, and a voice changer in his mask to strike fear into criminals.

Personality: Prideful, Takes out his anger on the criminals of Gotham. Enjoys teaching and loves his students.

Bio: Born on the streets of Gotham Zach never knew his parents. He spent most of his life committing petty crimes before being taken in by the Martial Arts Master Jamie Merchant. Merchant adopted him and Zach channeled his anger into martial arts, finding a release through the discipline of martial arts. He went to school like most kids and was known for being a quiet kid with few friends. His good record was marked by a few violent outbursts one of which landed a school bully in the hospital.

This bully happened to be the son of a local crime boss. He sent goons to get revenge on Zach and in the battle, Merchant was accidentally killed. Orphaned for the second time at age 15. He bounced around different foster homes before going to Gotham University to study Small Business. After graduation he founded a self defense class and bought a small building.

In the years following Zach found himself getting involved in the lives of his students. One female student was being stalked by a mad genius who developed military weapons. Taking matters into his own hands he broke into the stalkers home after he had kidnapped his student, in the struggle the stalker was accidentally killed and Zach found the Lorica Armor.

Feeling as if the armor gave him the edge he needed, he committed full time to cleaning up Gotham.

Personality: Very friendly and calm, but despite that she's impulsive, slightly ruthless, and violent with no option of choosing diplomatic options unless there's no other choice.

Bio: Born in San Fransisco, Karen was a daughter of Irish-American businessman and an Indian-American teacher. Her father had a connection with an Irish crime family and he held quite a powerful influence and thus was able to sent her to the best school that is available, though her choice of hobby in the future was much more related, ironically to her father. She grew up well, and though she had options of went into work after graduated from college, she joined FBI and soon were placed into the Intelligence Branch. She was placed quite above-average in marksmanship, foreshadowed her future career path.

Her career went above as she was transferred into ARGUS after Amanda Waller recognized her marksmanship and intelligence training, though she indicated she wanted her because of her marksmanship skills. She was sent into rigorous training and after that, she became one of ARGUS's top marksman. But she was unhappy with her life choice, and after ARGUS burned her due to a failed assignment in Canada. She escaped and raised herself up in Gotham.

Now with her alias had been used by another agent, she decided to used a new alias and perhaps, shaping herself for a new path that is a happy one...in Gotham.
