Operation: Smoking Aces (MT, Open)

December 4th, 2011,UNS Bunker, Southern Plateau:

"Thank you for coming sir." Spoke one Grenadier General Roman, beckoning a man forward, to a digital map of a island.

"Save it general. Now what have you got?" replied the man, approaching the table.

Roman made a brief smirk then looking down at the map, he traced his fore finger around the map. Making a wide circle around a group of mountain ranges. "Sir, we have received Intel that the Baskeniens are moving hundreds of tonnes of munitions into these mountain ranges. A clear violation of the arms embargo ." Roman cleared his throat then spoke again. "It is obvious that that the Baskeniens are preparing for war."

"So what do you suggested ?"

Roman pauses. " A first strike policy sir." Roman said, tapping on the screen, little 2-d figures of fighter planes appeared streaking towards the Baskenien coast. "If we attack now we have a fifty percent chance of wiping out almost all of their western air defenses." The little planes then started dropping on the coast, each causing a mini-explosion. "Then, we can send in the Grenadiers." Again Roman taped on the screen, but this time large cargo planes appeared, crawling slowly. " Sir, we can take their entire western coast in a matter of mere hours."

"And our losses?"

"Acceptable."

The man thought to himself, pondering the choices. Finally he came to decision. "How long will it take for the fighters to be in the air?"

Roman smiled. " Sir, their fueled and ready. I'll I need is for you to say go."

(( So the basic premise is that the UNS is going to attack Basken, a small island nation with similar geography to Cuba. I'm going to place a troop limit at 10 thousand, a ship limit at 10 and number of aircraft at 500 per nation. Also I will need someone to play as Basken.))

The Lingardian Navy Task Group 12 was sitting in Port Baskin, on the Island Baskin. They'd been there for only a few hours but they'd already seen a warm reception from the locals. The Task Group was taking on supplies and were generally having shore leave. The Commadore was also at the Presidential Palace discussing Trade Negotionations between Lingard and Baskin.

OOC: Hope you don't mind, couldn't resist throwing a spanner into your plans. I can play Baskin as well if you wish?

The dank, stale air inside the submarine was a clear indication of the need to re-supply. The sensors that should have prevented the level of supplies within the MMS Herted, a Storm class submarine on routine long-range reconnaissance , were damaged, and it was only now that the engineers aboard noticed.
Chief engineer Johan Smithson walked casually into the bridge, and handed captain Tomas Davies a report detailing such errors. “ so basically, we must surface for air?” replied th captain after reading the report.
“No sir, its much worse than that. We must dock some where, either a friendly country or meet up with one of the navies re-fuelling ships, because we’re dangerously low on fuel”, answered the Chief impatiently.
“Very well, dock us at the nearest port.”

Open broadcasts were sent to the nearest countries, and the first to reply was the small island nation of Basken, offering them the facilities of their nearest port.
With this, MMS Herted set off for Basken, cutting silently through the wa ves…

December 4th, 2011, Basken airspace:

Two squadrons of BAE Harrier II descended from the sky speeding towards Basken. Inside the cockpits, the situation was tense. Each pilot double check their equipment, nobody would want to be burned alive in their planes.

" *Krrk* Hey guys check this out *Krrk*! " Said a pilot, putting music onto the air wings radio frequency. ((http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYeCYbaaXBI&feature=related))

"What the hell is this?" Spoke another pilot in an annoyed tone.

" CCR baby!" Responded the first pilot.

" Alright, cut that, and listen up." Spoke the Squadren leader. "We have the coast in view, Break off and destroy all targets, I repeated we have green light."

"Oh yeah baby, Death from Above bitches!"

The Harriers screeched while descending, close to sea level, they opened fire onto the coast.

[Lingards]

As Unidentified Aircraft appraoched, the Baskin leader was informed and requested the Help of the Lingard Navy. Due to what seemed to be an Unprovoked attack, the Commadore agreed. Within Ten Minutes, Twenty F-18's were launched and heading to the west coast to scope out the situation. Meanwhile, the rest of the carrier air wing was launching.

December 4th, 2011, Basken airspace:

As the fighters made their attack runs, one of the pilots located what seemed to be enemy fighters. " *Krrk* sir, we have bad guys at our six, their in my range of fire, permission to engaged? "

The Squadron leader looked out the left side of his plane spotting the enemy fighters. At this distance it was hard to tell what craft they were, but one thing was for certain, they weren't Baskenien. " *Krrk* Do not engage, I repeat, do not engage, those are foreign silhouettes. Continue with the mission, only engaged when they present a clear and present danger to you *Krrk*. " Affirmative busts of static from the pilots meant they understood, but it only took one misfire to start a war, The air force learned that in Sorsk, and it wouldn't be a lesson they would soon forget.

TO: MMS Neptune

We have detected several wings of hostile aircraft entering Baskenien airspace. Request permission to launch SAMs and assist in any way possible.

It took a grand total of 7 minutes, as the message was passed on from the mega carrier Neptune all the way to Master M high command. The reply was short; you have a go.
Shortly after, as MMS Hented was launching a salvo of SAMs, 12th fleet battlegroup was preparing for peacekeeping operations.

December 4th, 2011, UNS military bases. Southern Plateau:

A army Humvee sped along the long stretch of highway. Inside their were two soldiers, dressed in full combat gear.

"I'm telling you Crowley, it's a fucking crime, retiring the M16. First and best rifle I ever used." Spoke the driver, more concentrated with his debate than watching the road."

"Oh will you shut the hell up Casper! The SA-80 is perfect for urban combat, shorter rifle equals better reaction time. I wish we had the SA-80 in Langtree instead of that cumbersome thing you call a rifle."

"Bah, your a idiot. Do you know how much money a SA-80 is? What's the point of- Oh shit!" Exclaimed Casper. The Humvee had swerved onto the other lane, heading straight on into a SUV coming the other way. Twisting the wheel to the side Casper manged to drive the Humvee back onto the right side of the road. "Stupid Civies' !" Shouted Casper out the window. Turning his focus back onto the road made a turn.

Eventually they made it to the base, rolling into a parking space the soldiers said their goodbyes.

"See you later Lieutenant Colonel sir." Said Casper, exiting out the car door.

"Oi! Wait mate here, this is for the plane ride." Crowley said, holding out a small pill. "It's to avoid airsickness, it's suppose to be officers only."

"Thanks sir." Responded Casper taking the pill from his hand. "Be seeing you in Basken."

"Same to you."

December 4th, 2011, Basken airspace: West Coast:

" *Krrk* Oi ! Oi, we got SAM's in there air! *KrrK*!"

The planes scattered avoiding the missiles. However this caused them to lose their surface target locks. Abandoning their original fire mission to finding the new target the fighter bombers scanned the coast for the location of the SAM sites. After locating them, two of the fighters dived at the submarine. Bright red flashes could be seen as they fired their Hellfire missiles.

The Squadron leader had heard the foreigners message. He wasn't about to let the whole mission go to shit because some idiot foreigners wanted to play hero. Switching his radio on the Squadron leader spoke. " Alight we got a new change of plans. Some foreign "environmentalists" have taken to the air. Destroy any remaining targets designated as primary then return home. Will have to leave the fuel and ammo depots for the infantry *Krrk*." The leader droped his remaining payload of cluster bombs and weaved back towards the coast.

The Lingardian Jets stayed on the tail of the unknown attackers, weapons armed but not firing.

[Leviticus Isles]

OOC: I'll be playing a single group of Spetsnaz (my spec ops) and that about it, twelve guys, and I am very good at it. Kinda. I also make my own rankings, so read the rankings and dialogue to figure out which is higher.

"Freaking UNS, they think that just because they have superior weapons and munitions that they can win wars" said a Goon by the name of Winston "I've been to the UNS training camps, trash heaps more like it. They train soldiers from when they join in, Czar Leviticus, Cthulhu bless him, lowered the compulsory service down to twelve years old and most of us Spetsnaz are trained from birth. The UNS doesn't know jack about war."

"Shut up Winston!" Winston clearly didn't hear Leftant Jerman because he continued to rag on the UNS soldiers, mostly about how last years training excersie with them. That was win this group of Spetsnaz took over and entire UNS army base of 1,200 in thirt-six hours. "Dang it Winston! Shut up!" Jerman slapped him hard, but, like most Spetsnaz, it didn't faze him.

"Sorry Jerman, I got carried away. But really, at least the UNS got rid of the M-16, but they should've gone with our AK-467s. In fact, Czar Leviticus should setup a trade agreement with them because lets face it. No one has a better army than us. A round a grunts came from all the men. Scars and burns lacerated each man from over thirty years in the military, brutal killing machines our what make each Spetsnaz, the army in fact, rarely sees action even in war due to the incredible effiecency of the Spetsnaz units. Silence filled the MI-24 Hind that was specially modified and a permanent Spetsnaz helicopter.

Radio: ETA to destination is one minute, one minute!

"Finally, I hate helis" yelled out a Kerma, no one, in fact knew his name. "can't wait to hear what the UNS want of us, don't even know if we will make it to Basken to ransack." A smile came acrouse all the mens faces, last time they were in Basken under cover ID's, they killed an entire remote village. They actually rounded up the children and infants, tossed them into fires and stabbed all the women and men. They then proceed to beat all the animals and livestock to death. Basken covered that up right quick and never knew what happened. "Boy was that fun."

Radio: Allright, we're here. load off, there should be a UNS official to tell you what we need to do. I'll refuel and be ready in one hour!

The men piled out and looked for a UNS official at the coastal base...

Urgent communications had been sent between the Beskin Leadership, and The Lingard Government. As the Jets saw off the first wave an agreement was made and the following announcement was made.

The F-18's from FNS Victory continued to patrol around the Beskin borders.

December 4th, 2011, UNS military bases. Southern Plateau:

Two soldiers were watching as the helicopter landed. From their position leaning on ammo crates they could see the Spetsnaz. Another soilder walked up to them.

"Who are they." Sounded the Grenadier, joining the group while loosing the strap of his rifle.

" Foreigners." Spat out one of the soldiers, not taking his eyes off them.

"Aye, Spet... somefink or other. 'Eard day killed a whole village."

"Bollocks!"

Lieutenant Colonel Crowley walked towards the group of foreign special forces. Scanning the group he choose the member who appeared to be the most dominant as most likely the leader. " Ahem, welcome to The Commonwealth. I am Lt. Colonel Crowley your liaison officer for this operation. Please follow me." Abruptly turning Crowley made a brisk walk towards a enclosed tent, motioning the group inside, he made himself to the front of the tent. "

"Alright gentlemen here's a map of our target."


"Our drop zone is at the middle hill, next to the old train station. Our mission is to take the enemy bunker located at the left most hill now hereby referred to as hill housing. We should expect heavy resistance from the police station. We've also learned the Baskens have a fuel depot near the bunker, we've marked it on the map as purple, again expect heavy resistance, that means machine gun nests and the like. To repeat myself we have two objectives; Objective one: secure hill housing, Objective two: destroy the fuel depot."

Crowley motioned to the foreign troops at the back of the tent. " We also have reports of Basken heavy artillery bring moved into the museum, that's where our friends come in. You'll be landing twenty minutes before at Playa San Pedrito be aware that the main assault cannot succeed unless you complete your mission in a timely manner. We need you to disable those artillery units ASAP. Luckley most of their forces will be stationed at hill housing. Now, any questions? " There was silence inside the tent. "Okay good. Take a final ready check then make your way to the cargo planes."

[Leviticus Isles]

"We're off!" screamed the Leftant over the helicopter's whirlsing blades. "See you after the mission!" The pilot reached his hands out to to the Leftant and took the orders and notes that he made.

"Allright," Leftant couldn't help but notice the creepy wink the pilot gave him "see you later." The pilot flipped of the landing gear and put in vertical throttle and headed back to orbit just inside Leviticus Isles territory. The men of the Zeta unit, the Spetsnaz unit, moved off to the cargo planes for take-off.

"I wonder how loud the Baskens will squeal when we blast through the walls of the museum," wondered a Goon to no one in particular "I think they will sound like the Cabikstabs a few years back." The Goon was referring to an extraction mission a few years back when they moved in through Cabikstab's country side undetected when they came upon a group of hunters. The screaming didn't last long, but it made the animals in the forest run for thier hides. "This out to be fun, artillery eh? I'm thinking that we should use the artillery before we scrap it. You know, help out if we need to!" Spetsnaz routinely make their own orders because they are generally in enemy territory with complete radio silence.

"Who knows," Leftant Jerman yelled due to being a couple dozen meters ahead of the group "but none of it will matter unless they tell us to do it, after all, we will have radio contact this time." There were more than a few sad faces. "I just hope we can continue fighitng even after the artillery are gone. He was referring to a mission twenty years back that only a few of these Spetsnaz were involved in. They were charged with the duty of demo'ing artillery and arms caches. After the fact, the nation they were helping refused further help and withdrew all Spetsnaz units, they lost only forteen hours later, something when Spetsnaz are involved, never goes down well with the lossing side. Many high ranking officails of the nation disappeared several days later. Upon reaching the cargo planes and strapping in after attaching 'chutes, all was pretty silent waiting for the assualt.

As word of yet more UNS Aggression reached the Ears of the Cabinet, the President ordered that forces be deployed to assist Baskenian Forces, but that a Declaration of War was not to be sent, this was going to be seen by the Government as a Conflict which needed Seeing too, Similar to the Korean War/Conflict. The President ordered the 83rd Airborne, 8th Carrier Strike Force, and the 587th fighter Strike Wing.

En-Route To Baskin

A massive Lingard Airforce detachment made their way to baskin. Aboard were the 2nd Airbourne, 8,000 men and equipment. Following these drop planes, were C-130's that held Earth-III Main Battle Tanks, and Protector IFV's. These forces would defend the new Protectorate. These Cargo planes were escorted by a large Number of fighters.

Baskin

Around the Baskin shores, F-18's and F-21's patroled the exterior. These aircraft would be on the look out for any enemy fighters or Cargo planes. From the Carrier, mobile SAM units had been dispatched to resecure the section of the border without SAM coverage.

December 4th, 2011, Basken airspace: West Coast:

The cargo plane carrying the special operations team flew relatively low to the ground. Though far from invisible and silent the cargo plane had yet been seen.


"Attention ETA in thirty minutes."

Unbeknown to the pilots their luck also came in part because their location was at the southern most part of the coast, away from the naval base and the majority of foreign forces. Easing the engines down to a crawl the plane slowed down considerably. Enough in fact to barely make out the silhouette of a fighter plane patrolling over head.

"Standby, ETA in ten minutes."

The Captain resisted the urge to sped up the plane as it continued its towards the ever growing shoreline.

"Standby, standby."

Once in reasonably distance of their target zone the Captain flick on a switch turning on the red light in the cargo hold that would signal the Spetsnaz to prepare for the drop. While co pilot picked up the microphone and spoke in his to the soldiers.

"Please return your tray tables to their upright and locked position and prepare to extinguish all hostiles."

Several CL-22 and R-17 fighters of the Airforce M streaked over the island, patroling for enemy threats. They were the vanguard, sent to pave the way for the 10 ships steaming towards the island...

... a large transport aircraft was suddenly located upon one of the CL-22s radar, and it was seen to be dropping a small number of paratroopers onto the island. When it was identified as UNS, the lead fighter launched both of its VL-56 "Victory" air-to-air missiles, and disengaged, both missiles streaking towards the enemy...

At the same time, four F-21's from the Carrier also detcted the UNS cargo plan. They postitivly IDed it as belonging to the enemy and the Carrier authorised them to open fire. They fired two AIM-120's followed by a AIM-9 Sidewidner each.

[The Master M]

The flight of CL-22s spun to face a new threat, a flight of fighters appearing from their left. About to present the order to engage, the flight leader noticed that the few dots on his radar panel ad become many, air-to-air missiles bound for the same cargo plane that they had just fired at. Relieved, he pinged a signal through a secure channel, informing the task force that Lingard had entered the fray. Possible allies? Who knew...

December 4th, 2011, Basken airspace: West Coast:

The missiles closed towards their intended target, there were too many to avoid with the use of flares. The Captain disregarding his "slow and steady" approach gave the engines all they got. Successfully manging to get the plane above the ground. Fumbling with the controls to flick the "green light" ready to jump signal on. With only thirteen seconds before impact the pilots rushed to the front exits, planing to jump from the soon to be flaming metal along with the Spetsnaz.

[Constans]

Over the skies of Basken, the clouds were being ripped apart as a flight of CFN-16B Terriers made their way down towards the ground, the wind screaming against their wings as lights inside the various cockpits were engaged and bombs were readied.

"Quebec Actual to Quebec Flight, proceed to engage ground targets, over."
"Quebec Two to Quebec Actual, moving in, launching AGM-158 JASSM, out."

In front of the cockpit of Captain Mikolaj Piotrowski, four flashes of light filled his cockpit as Quebec Two or Lieutenant Antoni Majewski launched his payload of air-to-surface missiles against armored targets on the ground.

"Quebec Actual to INS Absolutes, fire mission complete, returning home, out."

As the last of the missiles from Quebec flight were fired, the jets made a b-line back to the Naval Squadron "Hotel", where a Adamantine class VTOL carrier, four Gertrude II class destroyers, two Bernadine II class frigates, and a Maria II class corvette was heading towards the allied Pennsylvanian fleet.
