Massive anti-Accords rally held in Meridionale

MERIDIONALE, QUIRIS PROVINCE, CENTRALIUM - On April 7 an impressive large-scaled mass rally attended by around 300,000 citizens formed in the city of Meridionale, where they protested and demonstrated against what they condemned as 'nation-butchering crimes' of the members of the Cvetovigrad Accords. The rally took place on the Legionnaires' Avenue, a large road in Meridionale famous as a venue for mass rallies, and lasted for the entire day, concluding at 03:00 of the following day.

The rally began at 08:00 on the morning of April 7, and started with around 20,000 demonstrators that had organized themselves via social media occupying the Legionnaires' Avenue and holding up signs and boards featuring slogans opposing 'Accords imperialism' and 'national vampirism' by the 'decadent organizations known as Victoriala-Major, the Syncretic Combine and the Imperial Federation'. The rally expanded quickly with many of its members having organized and coordinated it on social media and by 11:20 an estimated 150,000 protestors had gathered, crowding the avenue. Members of the Centraline national legionary movement attended the event and they began organizing mass chants of slogans, as well as the broadcast of patriotic music and songs through the avenue's designated speaker systems intended for use during mass rallies.

Various patriotic songs, songs in praise of Compagism, or songs with pro-Actually Civilized World message were broadcasted and the demonstrators sang loudly along. The music was of a variety of genres, from songs by the famous metal band Provocatio to patriotic marches such as "Death to the Albyienic Imperialist Aggressors", "Centralium does what it is Determined to Do", "Defend the Headquarters of the Actually Civilized World", "We Pledge", "Holy Young Legionary", "Song of the Helicopter Troops", "Youth", "Ten Million will become Bullets and Bombs" and various others. Other songs that denounced and criticized the wrongful ways of the Accords by various artists of the Centraline people were sang and broadcasted too.

At the heat of the mass rally, flags of the Syncretic Combine, of Victoriala Major and of the Imperial Federation were burnt, ripped apart and trampled on. Caricatures and figures of Accords leaders were smashed by the demonstrators using hammers and also set alight. There were dolls depicting the likeliness of the incumbent Synkomese Hexumvirate as well as Victorialan Councillors that were stabbed, drilled, smashed and beaten such that they were barely recognizable (as if the drawings and depictions themselves were any accurate portraits indeed). Centraline flags were waved along with flags of other member-nations of the Actually Civilized World such as Myitwar, New Yama and Lytecia.

The attendants of the rally had even drawn and put up propaganda paintings and illustrations of their own on boards waved and held during the event. Theodora Octavia, who is an art student at 2nd Meridionale University (Clodius), explained to reporters from Aquilifer the processes by which she designed her propaganda board illustration, incorporating knowledge of the elements of art, principles of design and various other understandings of visual arts which was indeed a testament to the culture and civilization of the Actually Civilized World. Octavia's composition was a blend of Compagist and romanticist styles depicting the Imperial Federation personified deceiving its constituents with images of prosperity while in reality they suffer. Similar artworks could be seen throughout the rally, denouncing Accords atrocities and praising the strength of the Actually Civilized World.

The subject of the gathering was the condemnation of "nation-butchering atrocities and crimes" by members of the Cvetovigrad Accords, says several organizers of the rally on social media and before our reporters. Speakers have read out long lists of the atrocities the Accords's member states have committed that brought endless suffering upon nations and people, such as the Synkom's false promises of 'collective greatness' contrasted with the brutal suppression of Vuohian exit advocacy by the SIAF, inhumane suppression of rightful nationalist movements in the Imperial Federation, and economic downturns suffered by Victorialan member-states as well as cultural degeneracy that washed through their streets.

The rally was some of the largest Meridionale has seen in the past five years, with a length of time and an attendant count close to setting records. An interviewed national legionnaire believed that it was a sign that 'awareness of our enemy's detestable crimes is still high and clear in our populace', while a student that attended the rally said that the rally was a testament to Centralium's undying allegiance to the Actually Civilized World in the fight against degeneracy and for the survival of cultures.

Professor speaks on 'perversion, mockery and disgrace of Roman civilization'
"False Romans" are the greatest threat to true Roman civilization, says Prof. Salvianus

Professor Lyco Salvanius, a PhD of Civilization Studies of the Septentrionale University, was interviewed by a reporter from Aquilifer in an exclusive one-on-one session where he spoke on the 'perversion, mockery and disgrace of Roman civilization' which he deemed as the 'ultimate threat' to the continued existence of true Roman civilization and not other philosophies like communism or liberalism.

Salvianus was interviewed by correspondent Petrus Lepidus (plepidus1989@aquilifer.cntr) who is part of Aquilifer's correspondent team in Septentrionale city.

Lepidus: Greetings, professor.
Salvianus: Greetings.
Lepidus: So, let's get straight to the point. You wanted to speak about 'false Romans'?
Salvianus: Indeed. What do I define as 'false Romans'? It's people who claim to be Romans, people supposedly of Roman heritage and inheritors of Roman civilization, though their actions are those that Romans would certainly cringe at and verily despise. It's people who wear togas, but act like barbarians.

They are an extreme perversion of Roman civilization where they exist. I'd like to bring up Kastanokion which made quite a bit of fame here recently after this Konstantinos man claimed that we are 'nothing but pretentiousness'. Yet Mr. Konstantinos does not realize he himself is a mockery of Roman civilization as he speaks, which comes very entertaining considering the nature of his words and what is reality. We Centralines have achievement. We accomplished many things, such as the great ideological innovation of Compagism, the Parthenopea 1 nuclear fusion reactor, and the construction of the Actually Civilized World, amongst many others. But these false Romans, they have no achievement, they have not accomplished anything. Their only resource for superiority are old marble pillars their supposed ancestors left behind. They indulge in lifestyles of degeneracy, they fall to ways of idiocy and they succumb to barbarity. They are nothing but empty shells infested by decadence.

They claim to be Romans, but they're just parodies, disgraces of Roman civilization. They even have the gall to try to mock those who are the true sons of Vincentius and Augustus. They follow degenerate ways and paths, letting their proud heritage decay. They're no longer Romans, only false ones. Not even a real civilization but the product of a hideous orgy between liberal, 'enlightened' values and decay and decadence of a formerly proud culture.

Why are they a problem? They openly claim to represent a supposedly more 'progressive' form of Roman civilization while in reality they represent death and emptiness. They are illegitimate, yet claiming to be the faces of the achievements of Romulus. I think, they are more dangerous than communism, liberalism or any other philosophy we would surely destroy on sight for what they imply, it's because they represent what our enemies want Roman civilization to be turned into, and if these false Romans prevail then true Roman civilization will be officially concluded. We need to stay alert of their presence and control their influence however we can or we risk more and more lands formerly shining with the glories of marble falling to such perversion.
Lepidus: What do you believe can be done, to prevent them from being all that is Roman in the eyes of the world?
Salvanius: Well, of course, if we could do it without repercussion, I'd favor nuclear saturation bombing and may God have mercy on their sinful souls. [Chuckles] Joking of course. But first, the reason why they're becoming dangerous is that they're all that others are exposed to on Romans. We need to step up and present that we exist. That we are the true faces of Roman civilization. That way people can learn about what and who are the true Romans. Next, we need to correct their own ways. If we can, we should actively depose any regime espousing the propagation of what has poisoned and decayed them, and spread Roman civilization that is true as how we preserved it amongst them such that they rediscover what is actually Roman. Even those who were wholly barbarians can be converted to our truthful civilization in this way.

It should be part of an effort of the Actually Civilized World. In fact, not only Roman civilization but also many other civilizations have their perverted forms reigning and roaming free. We should establish their true and pure forms as the real faces of these civilizations, and destroy these perversions, mockeries and degeneracies, which will surely endanger our very existence if they are left to grow and infest as they do now.

3rd and 4th Carrier Strike Groups recalled

The Ministry of National Defense has officially affirmed reports that it has recalled the Centraline Navy's 3rd and 4th Carrier Strike Groups from their missions in Nasdin against Herian-sponsored communist forces. The MND cited two primary reasons for their withdrawal, one being the stabilization of the foothold and position of Nasdini anti-communist coalition troops as well as overall severe reduction in strength of the various communist rebel forces, two being the potential need for these units to be deployed elsewhere in face of escalating tensions in other areas of the Actually Civilized World's attention and concern. The two carrier groups are scheduled to arrive in their home ports on 25 April and replenish supplies and fuel as well as allowing for crew members to rest.

Nasdini communists crippled in coalition offensive

The Headquarters for National Defense and Preservation of Sovereignty, the coordinating operations room of anti-communist and anti-Islamist forces in Nasdin, announced that they have 'crippled' forces of the Front for National Workers' Liberation, killing and capturing 518 militants and destroying multiple pieces of equipment. The national coalition launched an offensive in the vicinity of Gasran, which has since fallen to its forces, on April 19, which involved 3,000 troops of the coalition pitted against 1,200 forces of the FNWL. They were assisted by Centraline air support. After fierce fighting, four towns and twelve villages have been captured. 274 militants were killed and 244 were captured, 13 trucks (5 of which were technicals) were destroyed along with 3 tanks and 1 armoured personnel carrier, and 5 tanks, 10 armoured personnel carriers, 24 trucks and 11 artillery pieces were captured.

Oscania shows signs of recovery from recession

Oscania Province located in Northwestern Hersiline suffered from economic recession in August following a major scandal where several of its provincial government officials were exposed of corruption and one was even revealed to supposedly be a communist. Its economy, based around fishing, shipping and textiles, has experienced contraction and stagnation since then. However recently it showed signs of recovery, its economy expanding 2.1% in Q1 of 2017 compared to -1.5% in Q4 of 2016. The improvement has been attributed by analysts and local officials to the success of further automation of parts of the secondary sector as well as restoration of investor confidence.

BREAKING: POLITICAL DISSIDENT DIES
Stephanius Petreius was denied medical treatment after suffering a heavy injury

CAELOVADUM - Notable political dissident Stephanius Petreius has died on 20 July 2017 after a heavy head injury as well as denial of medical treatment by the local hospital's staff caused his death by excessive brain hemorrhage.

Mr. Petreius on 14 July 2017 attended a radical left-wing rally in Caelovadum, where the rally eventually turned into a riot when right-wing groups began attacking the attendants of the gathering. According to witnesses, Mr. Petreius was trying to prevent two persons from violently attacking each other, trying to separate them and urge them to calm down when one other person, reportedly a member of the Centraline Assembly of Anti-Fascist Forces (CAAFF), bashed him in the head with a bike lock. It is unknown whether or not the attack was intentional or accidental though some believe Mr. Petreius may have been confused for a non-Legionary right-wing activist due to him being dressed in a suit.

Friends of Mr. Petreius immediately attempted to transport him to the nearest local hospital; after being hit in the head Mr. Petreius experienced dizziness and had difficulty in motor coordination. However, some members of the far-right National Legionary movement recognized Mr. Petreius and attacked him by punching, which likely exacerbated his injuries. Mr. Petreius's accompaniment was able to ward off the attackers and escort him outside of the riot area. They took a taxi to the 2nd General Hospital of Caelovadum, the nearest hospital nearby.

When arriving in the hospital Mr. Petreius's friends attempted to get him treated for the injuries he suffered, however, upon registering the man's identity hospital staff reportedly denied the request and ordered security to expel the group. Mr. Petreius was taken to another hospital, but was denied entry as well. Fearing further lack of action could endanger his life, Mr. Petreius was taken home by his family where they tried to allow him to rest.

Over the course of the next few days friends and family of Mr. Petreius tried to get him treated but was denied entry or dialogue at all hospitals they attempted to enter. Mr. Petreius is believed to have suffered from heavy brain hemorrhaging in the meantime. The lack of adequate equipment led to Mr. Petreius being unable to treated at home.

On July 19, after fierce campaigning and persuasion of hospital staff, Mr. Petreius was finally admitted to the 2nd General Hospital for treatment but his head injury had already entered an 'untreatable state' due to the delay of treatment and the severeness of the initial injuries. Mr. Petreius was pronounced dead on July 20 by medical personnel. The Citizen was able to gain coverage of the event only through following journalists as no official announcement was made in public.

When interviewed, Mr. Petreius's family and friends expressed grief and anger, with some accusing 'foul play' on part of 'various authorities and influential bodies'. "There were forces that did not want him to live. This, what happened, is a triumph of injustice, and we can not remain silent about it." said Mr. Petreius's wife.

The CAAFF left-wing activist that attacked Mr. Petreius was identified and arrested by constables, though his identity is withheld by authorities. The National Legionnaires that also attacked Mr. Petreius are still at large.

Stephanius Petreius, born in 1944, was a journalist and writer, a career he was a part of for decades since 1969. Mr. Petreius expressed social democratic views and championed political freedom, and was a critic of the military dictatorship established in 1986 following the constitutional crisis. He went on to criticize the policies of Ergalisus Castinus and successive consuls as 'authoritarian' and 'unjust' and accused them of utilizing radical right-wing groups to indirectly suppress left-wing and liberal dissent. He has called for the establishment of a 'true, free, open democracy' in Centralium and the 'de-deification' of Compagism and Simo Licinius. As a result of this his work received heavy censorship and he was banned from travelling abroad in 2002. Petreius was a member of the under-surveillance Free Social Democratic Party of Centralium and also a member of the illegal Centraline Liberty Association. He has been honored by supporters as some of the most outspoken critics of perceived authoritarianism in Centralium and has been praised by liberal organizations abroad too.

7 dead, 31 injured in explosions in Aurelian district neighbourhood

Several explosions of yet-unknown cause has occurred in a neighbourhood in the Aurelian district, located in the western region of Pallantium City, in the night of August 17, and 7 have been verified to have been killed in the explosion, while another 31 persons have been injured.

Emergency rescue services said that the explosions occurred starting on 9:50 PM, when an initial large blast came from the 7th and 8th floors of one apartment flat of the neighbourhood the explosion took place in. Subsequently two more blasts were reported from the 9th floor and the open area next to the flat, respectively, while a third blast occurred a minute later from an adjacent flat.

The explosions were large enough to render large parts of the buildings heavily damaged while rooms where the centre of the blast was located were practically completely destroyed. In addition to this, a terrace in the open area between the buildings affected was destroyed completely. Fortunately, no buildings have collapsed or are structurally compromised.

At the time of writing, emergency services found 7 persons dead and 31 injured. All persons have been accounted for. Surprisingly, a low number of persons were harmed by the blasts and most were able to evacuate safely following the explosions. The injured are being treated in hospital and none are in critical condition.

Authorities are still attempting to identify the cause of the explosions. There is little evidence available, requiring extensive trawls of the disfigured ruins, however some analysts do suggest that the explosion might be due to ignition of natural gas supplies. "It could be an initial explosion in the kitchen of one room, causing a chain reaction in the local methane pipe system that resulted in the explosion in the open space and in adjacent buildings." says one expert. Residents in the neighbourhood reported they heard sounds akin to that of a helicopter's rotors before the explosions as well as a very fast sudden screech shortly before the first blast.

Shattered glass, concrete debris and various other articles are still scattered throughout the area and some have poured onto nearby roads. Authorities have dispersed crowds of observers and are clearing up the damage as quickly as possible.
