Due to the increasing hatred for the Capitalism Now! Party of Valgora and the increasing number of petitions to outlaw the "party", the government of the Derpy Technocratic Democracy of Valgora has decided to let the citizens of Valgora decide.

If the petition reaches 70% of the population's signatures, which is about 28 million, then the government will outlaw the Capitalism Now! Party.

The government is awaiting international reactions.

Outlawing political parties that a majority of citizens disagree with is one of the first steps on the slippery path to mob rule by that majority. VALGORAN PETITION TO OUTLAW THE CNP

The government of Valgora finds itself in a dilemma of both choices being undemocratic. On one hoof, there's the outlawing of the Capitalism Now! Party of Valgora and on the other there's the ignoring of the citizens.

According to opinion polls, the vast majority of Valgorans (greater than 99%) hate the CNP. This amount of hatred and the growing number of petitions to outlaw the CNP has caused the government to decide that if a petition gains 70% of the population's signatures, then the CNP will be outlawed. Within a few hours, 1 million signatures are already on the petition.

The government of the Derpy Technocratic Democracy of Valgora is not supporting any argument for or against this petition and most government officials refuse to talk about it. One official was willing to let us know that the government is unsure of what to do because both options are anti-democratic.

Much of the international community has voiced their opinions on the petition, with the most outspoken being against the outlawing of the CNP despite what the citizens say. A poll shows that the majority support the petition with a few of that majority supporting raising the required 70% to something higher.

It's basically a referendum that's being called a petition. Think of it as more or less both a petition and a referendum. The reason why it's being called a petition is because the Valgoran government said if the next petition gets 70% of the population's signatures on it, then the CNP will be outlawed. There have been about 20 petitions, each with 1 million to 2 million votes, before this.

It would be referendum if Parliament decided to outlaw the CNP; however, since the government hasn't decided to outlaw the CNP, it counts as a petition.

And the cutoff date for signatures is 1 month (not IRL time).

Also, the reason for the poll is to get some ideas from the international community. The government doesn't really know what to do because both choices are undemocratic.

VALGORAN PETITION UPDATE

The petition to outlaw the Capitalism Now! Party is one day old and it has generated many responses from other world leaders. The largest group says that the government should choose the undemocratic option of not listening to the citizens; the second largest groups says that the Valgoran government should choose the undemocratic option of outlawing the CNP.

The one-day old petition has already acquired 6.4 million signatures.

The Capitalism Now! Party is a "political party" that advocates for the restoration of capitalism. It is the right-libertarian party that wants to bring back capitalism - the other party that wants capitalism is the Independence Party which is a neoliberal party. The arguments to outlaw it are: it's a useless party with less than 1% support; it is willing to use violence to bring back capitalism; it wants to restore the very thing that many Valgorans risked their lives to get rid of.

I also wanted to give some information regarding how "political parties" work in Valgora. The political parties don't function like parties in other nations. A "party" is just a way to (more or less) organization government officials/politicians based on ideology. Political parties can't nominate anyone. Also, government officials/politicians can be in multiple parties; for example: I'm in the Libertarian Party, the Valgoran Marxist Party, and the Tree Huggers of Valgora - Valgora's version of a green party.
