NY has access to the Great Lakes and the Saint Lawrence Seaway, which other states could not impede. It has great deepwater port.
Ample forests, great water supply, lots of arable land with diverse agriculture, strong telecommunications, reliable electric power (plus hydro), existing army bases, and a good percentage of the population are highly educated.

It lacks good supplies of oil and coal, but PA has those. An alliance would protect that southern border and be of mutual benefit.

Central Florida native, here. Central Florida would most certainly prefer the South. Miami and brevard county might prefer the Easterners, but given their isolation, they'll no doubt be forced into a southern confederacy very quickly. Especially given the strategic situation similar to Oklahoma. Because of Oklahoma's relative power and location, Texas will eat her up within a week.

I would imagine the same is true of South Florida. Central Florida is more moderate, but it leans right.

The reality is that Southern Florida is not strategically able to be independent of northern/central Florida and the South.

saw this on Reddit and was intrigued by the Concept, so i thought i would bring it over here to see what you folks thought.

I'm from Central Florida myself, so i reckon we'd be on the frontlines potentially. Florida would probably ally with the former confederacy. Texas would probably take over Oklahoma pretty fast. California and New York would dominate their immediate areas, the West coast and New England, respectively.

What do you guys think? What would happen to your state? Would you return to your native sod?

NY's pretty liberal through-and-through, and NJ is pretty moderate throughout, so I don't think either one would split. CA might. IL and PA definitely would.
