Nations of the world were recovering from the deadliest war humanity has ever fought. 60 million people have been killed, which was 3% of the population in the 1940s. This was no ordinary war. It seemed that the great empires and nations of the past could no longer stand in this time. In the Western Hemisphere, the United States of America rises from the war, victorious. But another nation in the East was rising. The Soviet Union, who took the brunt of the 2nd World War, was growing as well. The communists and the capitalists would divide the world to their respective sides. They were the First World Nations: nations aligned with the capitalists and the United States. Then there was the Second World Nations: nations aligned with the socialists/communists and the Soviet Union. And finally there was the Third World: nations who tried to stay neutral in the sea of chaos.
The two nations would try and undermine each other, one-up each other, become stronger than each other, and even fight each other; though they never fought directly. With this political turmoil, the threat of the annihilation and the destruction of human civilization became the cherry on top of this delicious ice cream. Now, it is your turn to experience the Cold War. Who will you support? How will you change history? Will you become a puppet for the major powers to toy with or will you become a nuclear power worthy of respect on the global stage? Only you can decide that!
Rules:
1. As OP, my word is final. Follow the Co-Ops advice and warnings as well unless I say otherwise.
2. (Only for those who are going to play as the U.S. and Soviet Union) If you are going to play as the U.S., you can't be communists/socialists, however you have to deal with some of them in your nation and you have to ensure that they don't make your nation communist/socialist. Similar to the Soviet Union. Make sure you don't become capitalists and try to stop the capitalists in your nation from gaining power and influencing others. Only applies to these two nations.
3. No godmodding.
4. Have a good reason for going to war with someone. You can't invade someone just because they are capitalist/communist, however that can be a reason (though not a very significant one).
5. Don't use nuclear weapons unless absolutely required. If you are going to drop a nuke, post your plan in the OOC and your reason. First the OP and Co-ops will decide on whether or not you have a good reason to drop nukes. Then, we will have a vote to decide whether or not you can. And if you do drop a nuke on someone, be prepared to have the rest of the world drop nukes on you/each other.
6. Be respectful to each other in the OOC. If you and someone else are in a disagreement, be reasonable and have a polite debate with each other and make sure both parties are heard.
7. No metagaming.
8. Keep the realism at a reasonable level. Be realistic but not to the point where the RP is not becoming fun.
9. IC posts must be a paragraph (at least) unless you are RPing a conversation with another nation's leader or are giving a speech or discussing with people in your country.
10. Have fun. If you have ideas on what we can do to make this RP more enjoyable for you and for others please let me know.
11. Your country will have to spend lots of time in order for them to develop nukes, or a major power could sell them to you.
This rp will features Random Events.
Time: I think one real life day = one month is a good idea for this rp unless me or some Co-Ops decide to do a time jump or if we decide to keep the RP at a certain time. If you have suggestions please let me know.
