Wars have been fought in history and many nations have been founded. This is a time of change, innovation, and even warfare. Inventions once thought impossible are being created by geniuses in labs, new methods of engineering, trade, politics, and above all else warfare are being introduced to the public every year. As the sun rises once again on planet Earth a new age dawns. It is up to the nations of Earth to write this new age for themselves and for the history books. History is book that is only half complete, the pen is yours.

Foundation and Population -

Population

-Population should be relative to the actual nation at that time.

Founding

-Found in a reasonably sized land, not giant lands like Russia, United States, China. If you found in these lands, you will not receive the full amount of land in that country.

-Your founding post should include a paragraph about your country.

-Include statistics and 4 pieces of tech: 1 Infantry Weapon, 1 Naval Vessel(Unless landlocked, get 1 extra of the other 3), 1 Aircraft, 1 Tank/Armored Fighting Vehicle.

Technology

Tech Posts - 2 Tech Per Year.

-The Technology is made for when it was first produced. NOT DESIGNED. IT MUST BE A VALID PROTOTYPE. THERE IS NO " I made a American plane so I lock down the F-22 Raptor".

- Prototypes are okay to make to lock down an item. Certain prototypes cannot be used in combat; Consult and admin about whether or not you can use a prototype in war.

-At the start of each year, post a reply to this forum that includes your two new technologies.

-When someone has a technology, you may not make the same thing they have.(ex. A nation has the Tiger 1, you may not make the Tiger 2.)

-You don't need to use a tech to make variants of a tech item you already have. (At admins discretion.)

-You may change a tech post if it is within 24 hours of the year change.

-You must post tech within 72 hours of year change.

-All tech from before 1918 is free to use by anyone.

-If you found after 10:00 PM on Saturday, you must wait until the following Saturday to post tech.

-Tech Criteria
-Airplanes are accessible at first flight.
-Ships are accessible when first launched.
-Weapons are accessible when first produced.
-Tanks and Ground Vehicles are accessible when first produced.

Select a picture from the internet or provide a description of what your soldiers look like (or both) Be sure to label the colors of their uniforms (since most photos are black and white, go nuts) Your emblem is what represents your nations military. Please feel free to use one that is historical or make your own. If someone took the one you wanted to use, see if you can find one that is similar looking (ex. Balkankreuz and Slovak Airforce Emblem). Ranks, you can make your own, use your own words and such to express what makes your soldiers your soldiers. You can also use a real life rank chart if you so please. (The rank list is not mandatory)

The Workers Union of the Republic of Jottis

Background

The Workers Union of the Republic of Jottis officially came into being on January 14, 1924 following rising tensions between the working class and the elites across Jottis. On this day, a prominent figure of the Jottis Workers Party was assassinated while giving a speech at a plaza in Barcelona. Once the news began to spread across jottis, supporters of the communist party rallied in Valencia, where the officially declared independence from the oppressive Jottisian government. Following shortly after, a number of other cities defected from the Jottisian government and joined The Workers Union of the Republic of Jottis. On January, 29, 1924 the Jottisian government delivered an official declaration of war to The Workers Union of the Republic of Jottis. Having only a small fraction of the army, things were not looking good for the brave Jottisians who were taking up arms across Jottis in the name of the workers. However aid was soon sent by the Union of Pruiburg, and the tides of war had changed. With José Fernandez in charge of the Peoples Government, soon the last remnants of the Jottisian Democracy were crushed, and the state seized the means of production. After having some serious famine issues during 1929 while modernizing and organizing, the Workers Union got everything worked out and the food shortages ended in November.

Background

Originally starting as the lone state of Tunisia who had freshly gained independence from the French after the First World War. Tunisian Berber nobility of the Al-Jezari Dynasty took power, and implemented the teachings of Karl Marx into their economy, and kicked out private corporations, and began developing the country. Rail roads, factories, and roads were set up, and the economy began to boom with the Berber people reaping the benefits of a Golden Age now dubbed as the Berber's Arrival to the Modern Era. Algeria who also gained independence from France had seen the Tunisia strength, and Tunisian officials began the process to induct the Algerian people into the Union, and birthed the Confederacy of Berber Nations. Algeria soon felt the boom, and began to get developed, further distancing the African states from their neighbors as they began to mirror European ideals, and further inducting them into the World as a force to be reckoned with. Their naval power seems unmatched among their neighbors in Africa as the Berber flaunt their historical traditions from the Berber Pirates times in the 15th Century towards the Napoleonic Era.

Background

The Republic of Braeton is located in Germany. It was formally a country in the year 1648 when it was united by Wilhelm Von Hamburg. The capital is located in Hamburg and the country is divided into 16 states with smaller local governments. The population of 65 million speak German and share a rich culture of hard work and dedication. The current leader is Christian Von Menden who was elected in 1928. After the end of The Great War, The Republic of Braeton struggled to get back into shape. The Great Depression still rages on, but the people of Germany continue to strive for greatness, even in these times of strife.

A History Lesson

After a bitter civil war in Bergamont in 1918, Sven Arntzen, a Bergamoni council member, appointed Marius Arwidsson as Prime Minister. Bergamont's new political system derives from the British Executive: King Haakan VII throne Council and Legislature: Bergamoni Parliament. The capital city of Bergamont has been renamed Charnsuka and much of it's culture is much unchanged as the Bergamoni people are adjusting to their new life under a different and safer society. Bergamont's most important natural resource are trees and they also control an abundance of earth metals such as nickel, chromium, cobalt, zinc and copper which also contribute to the economy. Gold, silver, cadmium, and titanium are obtained as by-products. There is no naturally occurring coal or oil in Bergamont. As of 1930, there are 3,449,000 Bergamoni inhabiting Bergamoni.

The United States of America is a constitutional federal republic made up of 14 states and a federal capital district. Originally part of British North America, the rebellious colonies revolted in the latter half of the 1700s and declared independence with the help of several European nations. Following a 10 year process, American citizens living in what was then known as the Maine Territory succeeded in gaining statehood. This event was marked by the addition of a 14th star to the canton of the flag. During the early-mid 1800s, the United States attempted to gain more territory west of the Appalachian Mountains and sent large numbers of people to settle the new frontier. This territory, known as the (UPCOMING COUNTRY) territory was settled by mostly Scandinavians who was seeking a better life in the New World. In the mid-1800s, the (UPCOMING COUNTRY) territory began exercising more autonomy due to the inefficiency of the bureaucracy in Washington when it came to the administration of the territories. This greater autonomy led to the rise of an independence movement that garnered the support of many Americans. In 1890 the (UPCOMING COUNTRY) Commonwealth and American Confederation of 1890 was passed by congress, granting independence to (UPCOMING COUNTRY) while establishing a confederation in which members would engage in trade and common defense while ensuring the sovereignty of member nations by declaring that any law of the confederation which infringes on the sovereignty if a member nation would be nullified.

The First Internationale Comuna

On January 14, "Liberation Day" in The Workers Union of The Republic of Jottis, Premier José Cafe extended invites to Sultan Muhammad Al-Jezari of the Confederacy of Berber Nations, and President Leon Trotsky of the Union of Pruiburg. The purpose of this meeting is for the communist brethren to come together and discuss current world events and economics. Both countries accepted, and the meeting was set to take place in Valencia, the capital of Jottis, on June 27th. Foreign leaders were welcomed with a parade in Valencia, and soon the meetings were underway. These discussions took place for a week, and all three nations agreed that it was in the best interest of everyone for them to form a free-trade agreement. On July 4th, the meetings were declared closed, and the diplomats from both countries returned home.

The Republic of Ireland

The Republic of Ireland is an authoritarian democracy state existing in the 26 Counties of Ireland. The government operates efficiently, as per the instructions of Taoiseach Michael Collins, elected 1921. The Irish Army, built up of former IRA members is a well-oiled machine designed for the Irish country, with particularly emphasis on mobility and guerilla warfare. The Irish Army prides itself in its comraderie and many officers served a decade ago in the Irish War of Independence.

The Irish state has seen great investment in the past few years, with old British industries and dock-yards nationalized and seized, with the government also heavily subsidizing agriculture with the aim of increasing exports while keeping imports to a minimum, with goals of achieving autarky set to 1936. Michael Collins hopes this will mean the Irish state will be in a strong position to take the North by any means necessary.

Anti-Depression Measures

To meet the Depression, the government has put aside 260 million Surplus Irish Punts to bring Ireland through the Great Depression. The Irish Credit Union (Budget: 120 Million) will buy up the lost industrial shares of failing banks, thus feeding cash into the banks, while also giving the government greater control over prices through its share of private industry. The second institution, The Irish Loan Foundation (Budget: 100 Million), has the right to issue up to 300 Million Irish Punts in government obligations to be lent to industry over the course of ten years.

Finally, the Institute for Industrial Reconstruction (Budget: 140 Million) has been formed, and has takencontrol of the bank-owned companies, giving Ireland a much larger industrial sector in Europe. It has saved the Hydroelectric Society of Ireland, which shares had fallen from 250 punts to 20 punts, while also, the Ansaldo trust was again reconstituted under the authority of the IIR, with a capital of 80 million Punts. Despite this taking of control of private companies the government has not outright nationalized any industries. However that being said it is now estimated that these moves have put roughly a third of industrial shares in the hands of the government.

Furthermore, to make the Irish punt more competitive a controlled devaluation of 0.2% has taken place, with the newly minted money going into a public works project to build a motor-ways connecting each of the 26 'County Towns' in Ireland.

Irish Army seizes IRA Weapons Cache

Brigadier-General Michael O'Sheen has today commended the efforts of the counter-insurgency brigade of the Irish Army, who have seized over 2,500 stolen American Pederson Rifles, which were placed into the Irish Army's reserve armouries. The rifles were intended for delivery to the Irish consumer market, however the Winchester Repeating Arms Company has been reimbursed from the pocket of the government.

The IRA has seen an increasingly radical slant on Marxist ideologies in recent years, however with the Communization of neighboring Britain this has relegated it to obsolescence, with many detractors commenting that the IRA has more in common with the British than the current government.

American-Irish Ultimatum

Pruiburg's brave leader, Leon Trotsky, giving the following speech regarding American-Irish affairs, rallying the people.

The Speech:
"The Americans and the Irish have been assisting each other, as we've come to understand with information from our Jottisian brothers. Under standard circumstances this would not be an issue. As we are aware, a comrade helping another comrade is how a society should function; how a country should be run. But not when it is behind the backs of others! The IRA raid was falsified!" *Murmuring and gasps come from the other government officials* "Yes, I know! Sickening, isn't it, that our long-time neighbors would lie to us about such a thing? The Americans have supplied the Irish with weaponry, and for what purpose, we wonder? Why must the Irish go behind our backs to attain small arms? If the reason is not appallingly clear I would not be up here giving this announcement. A leak in the Irish cabinet has supplied the Jottisians with this information, who have given it to us and we plan to act swiftly and effectively. I am hereby issuing the following demands. I demand that the United States of America cease their meddling in European affairs in which they have no business, for the Americans have no business supplying arms to anyone in Europe! I demand that the Irish recognize Pruiburg's control over Northern Ireland and that they cease all affairs with the United States of America! This is my ultimatum! Should these clauses not be met, the Irish will be subject to a blockade across their coast! Understand that we want to solve this situation using peace; the use of force is by no means pleasant but it is indeed called for! If they continue to disobey, let it be known that all acts of aggression will be met with equal repercussions! The Irish have long been our neighbor and friend, but for that reason they cannot go against us in this manner!"

The Ultimatum:
The Americans are to stop influencing and involving themselves in European affairs.
The Irish are to cut trade relations with the Americans.
The Irish are to recognize the Union of Pruiburg's control over Northern Ireland.
Failure to comply with these clauses will result in a blockade from the Jottisian and Pruiburgian navy on the Irish coast and any aggression will be met with an overwhelming response to ensure that peace is brought back quickly.

In Other News...
Trotsky has also called for martial law to be enforced in Northern Ireland, as well as the stationing of the army on the Irish border and the stationing of the national guard in all cities in Northern Ireland to enforce the martial law. The navy has also begun preparing, but not launching, a blockade on Irish waters.

The Irish people are under assault. The shadow of British tyranny rises once again from the East, and the Communist menace beckons international imperialism once more upon its people. The island nation of Britain has threatened our island with war and ruin if we will not bow to the whims of their Jewish despot! And we can expect the Spanish, who, for so long had the favor of God's Church in Rome to help them! The Irish people are under assault by the insidious shadow of Bolshevism, and I for one will not kneel once more to the whims of the Saxon enemy! I will never allow this green and pleasant land to once again be put under the yoke of tyranny, and we will maintain our way of life as we always have, with or without the Marxist navies circling our island.

Preparations for the Worst

With the positioning of British soldiers on the Irish border, the Irish army have mobilized two additional divisions to maintain the sovereignty of Ireland. These divisions (24,000 men) have been armed with armored vehicles and artillery to ensure the border maintains her integrity in the face of British aggression. Additionally a wing of 80 Dublin. VIII bombers have been deployed in a Monaghan airfield for rapid response if necessary, as well as contingents of older planes, primarily for the purpose of reconnaissance.

A further five divisions of the Irish Home Guard (60,000 men) were mobilized in the event that any attempts are made to violate the sovereignty of Ireland in a potential naval invasion. This brings the total number of professional soldiers active to around 8 divisions (100,000), with an additional five reserve divisions active, and approximately fifteen more ready for service.

The Blockade Runners

The Irish Merchant Navy has commissioned the construction of six civilian blockade runners to maintain trade should the British carry through with their threat. The blockade runners are civilian craft retrofitted with Yarrow and Brown-Curtiss steam turbines taken from Warwick class destroyers. To lead the blockade-runners in convoys and to protect them from harm two Warwick class destroyers will accompany the ships on their routes until they make it past the blockade. At top speeds of nearly 40 knots in favorable conditions the blockade runners should easily outrun the blockade should it be formed.

[Washington, District of Columbia] - The people of the United States were shocked today when President Herbert Hoover unexpectedly resigned following a scandal where American arms were supposedly sent to aid the Irish Republican Army, a militant organisation dedicated to the reunification of Ireland with Northern Ireland or the so-called 'occupied counties'. The resignation, which happened over this weekend left the government unsure of its future relationship with European countries as the United States has been accused of undermining Pruiburgian power by Leon Trotsky, Chairman of the Council of the People's Ministers. Acting President Curtis was sworn in just minutes after the resignation of Hoover and immediately began communicating with other world leaders, guaranteeing America's stance on non-interventionism and officially condemning all American government officials involved in the scandal. Curtis also stated that the American nation as a whole should not be held accountable for the criminal actions of officials who had acted without consulting the American people. Soon after this statement, Congressman Donald McConnaughay (AN - Virginia) criticised Curtis for not commenting against Pruiburg's demand that Ireland ceases diplomatic and trade relations with the United States, stating that it is ridiculous that the sovereign right of a nation is not being defended by a man who leads a nation founded on the principles of liberty.

American Response to Pruiburgian Ultimatum:

While the American government does apologise for the actions of its elected officials, it will not give up the right of a sovereign nation to engage in diplomacy and trade with others;
Therefore congress condemns Pruiburg's violation of Ireland's sovereignty by demanding it cut trade relations with the United States.

The United States of America has in the past and does currently recognise the sovereignty of Pruiburg over Northern Ireland but if Pruiburg wishes that American recognition of its sovereignty over Northern Ireland continues, then it must retract its demand that Ireland cuts of diplomatic and trade relations with the United States of America.

The deployment of military forces in a time of peace to subvert the will of the Irish people to engage in diplomacy and trade with other nations is illegal and will be met with dire consequences.

The Irish and the Americans have denied the Ultimatum. Sadly, the Union of the Pruiburg must call on its Chairman of the Council for the final decision, and he has decided to go through with his promises. The navy has been launched and the blockade is being formed. Their orders are to attempt to stop all trade convoys without the use of lethal force. They are ordered to let go ships they cannot intercept. Intercepted ships will, if manned by the Irish, be impounded with the crew being peacefully returned to Ireland. If manned by foreigners (non-Irish) the ships will be re-directed to England, let to re-fuel, and continue on their way with their cargo and crew intact. The Air-force of the Union's defensive wings have been mobilized, but not deployed yet in anticipation of Irish assault. The martial law has been maintained, and the National Guard and front-line forces have remained, even receiving reinforcements. Northern Ireland is currently undergoing an increase in infrastructure at port and railroad level as well to help maintain a larger number of forces on Northern Ireland. The Council maintains it's demands, though: If Ireland recognizes Pruiburg control over Northern Ireland, cut off trade with the Americans, and de-mobilize it's country's army, the blockade will be lifted and citizens of Irish descent in Northern Ireland will be compensated for any loss during the duration of the martial law in effect. Until these demands are met, the blockade remains, the martial law remains, and the Army of the Union remains.

Ireland deploys R-VIII's to fly over blockade

The Irish Air Corps utilized several aircraft today in order to organize a continual stream of cargo from mainland Europe. The R-VIII is capable of taking off with half a tonne of cargo, and non-essential cargo that would normally be ignored by the blockade runners is taken on-board by the R-VIII's, this includes commodities like tea, coffee, chocolate, and other semi-luxury items. The R-VIII's will modify their bomb-carriages in order to mount crates of cargo, which can if need be be dropped with a parachute.

The R-VIII's will continue to fly non-stop for the duration of the blockade. With a mean flight time of approximately 4 hours from Europe the planes can bring over 100 tonnes of cargo into Ireland everyday.

A R-VIII with sea-plane modifications, this particular model is recovering cargo that was emergency dropped by a blockade runner carrying too much cargo to escape the blockade.

The MacManus Commision

Brigadier-of-Cavalry John MacManus has arranged for the construction of 204 Vicker's 6-ton to outfit a division that is currently being formed from troops from Leinster. The construction will take place across several factories across the country, with the completed tanks being stock-piled. Complete construction of all 204 tanks is estimated to be in roughly 18 months.

Additionally a crate of 250 units of MP-30 SMG's were supplied, and these were promptly issued to the Irish Rangers 1st. Regiment.

NEWS

Congress and President Menden have passed a bill in an attempt to help stimulate the economy. It includes tax cuts, lower interest rates, government contracts, and public works. It is hoped that these help get the economy going by providing jobs and a break for the people of Braeton.

The sale of production licenses for certain weapons to a foreign nation has brought several million foreign dollars into circulation; This money is being spent to fund better roads and military equipment.

In other news, diplomats have been sent to discuss with the Irish about their situation. It is not known what was discussed, but the Irish seemed unwilling to work with Braeton in solving the issue of the blockade.

French Government Embargos Ireland, refuses to allow Irish Planes to Land!

Jottisian Diplomat's in Paris have convinced the French Government to disallow the Irish from landing their planes in France. The Jottisian's and French came to the agreement that Jottis will cover any lost trade, plus an export of Copper to the French. The French are not allowing Irish planes to enter airspace over Ireland either, fearing that they will drop their cargo illegally now. This means that the Irish are going to have to go much further to conduct trade in Europe, having to go all the way to Belgium in order to conduct trade. Seeing as how the Irish cannot cross over British Lands either, they will also have to take a very indirect route, staying over the English Channel all the way to Belgium.

Through Spanish intermediaries the Irish have negotiated terms with the British. The terms for Ireland are as follows:

- Ireland will receive all Northern Irish lands West of the Bann River, incorporating roughly 600,000 new citizens.

- Article 3 of the Irish Constitution has forfeited claims to the entirety of the Irish island, however it maintains claims to Ireland's territorial waters.

- Ireland is free to militarize her army in line with her sovereignty.

Michael Collins returned to Dublin to rapturous applause as trade floods back into the country as the blockade ends. This has caused a small economic boom as people's surplus spending money accumulated over the blockade's duration. The French have also lifted their embargo, though the use of blockade runners and transport planes is no longer necessary.

Ireland's armies have also demobilized, with Irish Home-Guard divisions being de-mobilized along with two divisions, bringing Ireland's standing army to roughly 25,000.

To compete with other European powers such as France, or the United Kingdom, Asleau has decided to completely revamp their Industry, and extensively expand the industry sector. Major road systems will be created throughout the country, and factories will be created to provide for the automotive industry, which will also easily convert to military factories that produce military vehicles, in order to support the recreated tactics in which our generals have devised. The general idea of this new doctrine is to use mechanized vehicles in order to quickly advance through enemy lines, will being supported by large amounts of artillery. These new, concentrated industry centers which Asleau is creating will support all forms of weaponry, and vehicles. These will be convertible from civilian, to military factories.

Spanish Trade Minister Announces Tax on Trade Through Gibraltar

Trade Minister Hernandez has announced that all trade that goes through the Straight of Gibraltar will be taxed at a flat rate of 15% of the value of the cargo on board. This measure is to try and help combat the depression raging across Europe. Ships are expected to provide a cargo manifest, this will also help to keep down illegal smuggling that is taking place through the Straight. This money is being taken and reinvested into infrastructure and factories across Jottis.
