Founder's Day in your nation?

Does your country celebrate the anniversary of its founding? If so, what is the famous day called? How is it celebrated?

Olwean Founder's Day is January 22nd, the exact date on which the million or so survivors of the Athanese exodus from Earth first landed on and started to settle the newly discovered planet of Yavanna. Reenactments and settler cosplays are common in the celebrations, and most large towns and major cities hold fairs or carnivals. The annual parade in Acceptance, the first city established by the founders, is broadcast throughout the Empire on multiple Olwean Holonet channels. Most locations hold fireworks shows at dusk.

Toward nighttime the adults start to have an entirely different kind of fun, and by 9pm or so full-blown orgies have broken out in nearly all Olwean cities. These often spill out onto the streets, and public nudity is rampant.

Vescus Day is 12th February. It celebrates the anniversary of the end of our communist era (basically we celebrate the death of our worst leader yearly).

Every April 4 the "Revolution Day" is celebrated, the day in which the workers assaulted the administrative buildings of the major cities and Irina Strelkova, Leader and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Ayanka, proclaimed the People's Republic of Ayanka and its independence from the Russian Federation. It's a day-off for the workers.
Some people hang red flags in their balconies and parades (both military and non-military) are held in the streets of the major cities, alongside with firework spectacles during the night and a speech given by the General Secretary of the KPA and broadcasted to the entire nation through the State Television.

Vescus Day is 12th February. It celebrates the anniversary of the end of our communist era (basically we celebrate the death of our worst leader yearly).

We have no known founder, therefore the Empire has no "founder's day", as if Auzkhia materialized out of nothing.

[Juche America (Ancient)]

We have two such holidays. The first, called Patriotism Day, takes place on July 4th and is basically an altered version of Independence Day. The second is known as Revolution Day and takes place on December 8th, the day that communist rebels stormed the central area of the District of Columbia and officially established the People's Republic of Juche America. The former is celebrated with fireworks displays and outdoor parties, and the latter is celebrated with massive military parades. On both days, the Chairman usually gives a speech from Worker's Memorial in DC.

[Tinhampton]

Tinhampton was baptised as a city on the 8th of October, 1866. Since then, that date every year (pretty much) has been used to host parades, celebrations and similar whatnot; the day is a municipal holiday.

On behalf of the Tinhamptonian community, Mayor Lydia Anderson would like to wish all of Olwe a happy Founder's Day tomorrow. Unfortunately, that date is best remembered in Tinhampton as the time that an entire city block was covered with pink frosting in 1978.

August 21st 2009, when the European/Soviet Civil War ended and the totalist syndicalists in a tense alliance with the anarcho-syndicalists announced the defeat of the old, corrupt revisionist Soviet government and their replacement with a more socialist, syndicalist government.
Military parades are held, the March of the Militias is also held which celebrates the brave civilians who took up arms to fight for our cause, Eurasian flags fly high and adorn many buildings, the Premier, General Secretary, Executive, and both Chairmen hold a public speech, people get drunk, there's tons of fireworks, tons of food, traditional singing and dancing, it's all great fun. It's a day off for everyone too; students, workers, government officials, etc.

October 28th, 1397 is the date Emperor Akait declared independence from foreign conquerors, and is widely celebrated as the founding date of our nation.

The exact date when the federation was founded is lost to time and even the very date it was founded is under fierce debates by scholars, was it the crowning of Emanuel the first as high king of Imeriata? was it the unification of those lands by said king? was it the unification of the home continent? was it when the title of absolute royal federation was first used on official documents that was the start? Even that last one is very debated since it seemed to just have started to creep into the royal documents replacing the various names used before over a long period of time.

The closest thing in the modern absolute royal federation is the coronation day which is the date when the current high king was crowned which of course changes from high king to high king. However celebrations generally take the form of massive military parades. Icons of the high king kissed by the man himself is placed in major city centers where commoners let it kiss their heads which is said to have healing properties, and of course the high king himself also kisses commoners in various cities over the federation which is obviously seen as more potent than a mere icon but that is of course impossible to implement all over the federation due to an obvious lack of high kings and the monarch can only be on one place at a time.

Less royal sponsored activities also exist varying from silent skulking in taverns patroned by similarly minded individuals from less loyal subjects in the absolute royal federation, to cheerful dancing, singing, drinking, and other activities in taverns that calls more loyal men their patrons. There is also various sporting events on public, royal, and private initiatives featuring jousting, wrestling, chariot fighting, sportball, animal fights, and other jolly good times that the populous seems to enjoy. The various religious institutions also tend to get into the festivities and give praise to the high king as the chosen by the gods to lead the nation and the faithful, all in accordance with federal doctrine and the important part kingship have in the larger religions in the federation.

On the 31st of January of 1650, Pedro the 1St unified the four kingdoms in the Declaration of the Federation. On that declaration, Pedro signed for the first time "REX" instead of "DUX".

Starting every June 6st (The date of rebel victory over the previous government) since E53 Y94 (1994) is known as "Revolution Week" In which one week is devoted to the celebration of the freedom of the people. Festivities include: drinking as much alcohol as you can before your liver fails, the 10 A.M to 12 P.M. march around Jrujin Square, shooting fireworks at the sky and occasionally your neighbor's house and playing chess with Virgil.

Every year, beginning on May 25, there's a week-long celebration throughout the country that commemorates the Declaration of Independence by the Founding Fathers.

[Emerstari]

August 4th, 1042 was the country's founding before that Emerstari was just a loose Confederation of separate Kingdoms. It is celebrated with fire works; a party at the Executive Mansion, and the Caneri Palace; and many other traditions based on what part of Emerstari you are in. It is a Federal Holiday, with everything from Libraries, to the Post Office closed (Since school is already closed for Summer Break.).

On March 19th 1991 The Monarchy was violently overthrown by the current gov't. Every year a Massive Military march occurs in every major city in Mikia. During the week leading up to this a 90,000 man army marches from Nolvin to Livia to commemorates Tomuski's march that defeated the King.

[TURTLESHROOM II]

That would be Founders' Day, celebrated on October 13th.

Founders' Day is the day that TurtleShroom's Constitution was ratified by the Missioanry colony, the Pawleed Khanate, and the Myrtled Khanate. On that day, all three rulers stepped down and crowned Jones Found as the "Khagan of Turtles Mushroom", from which TS got its name. Jones Found ruled as Khagan for six hours before TurtleShroom's first Kings (King Solomon Dawn and King Alexander Beign) were coronated.

After he united TurtleShroom and humbly refused the throne, Jones Found vanished into the night.

We have two holidays that can be considered equivalent to Founder's Day.

5 June is Discovery Day, who's name is actually a bit of a misnomer as Gandoor wasn't discovered on 5 June, but it rather celebrates the original establishment of the Gandoor Grand Council in 1587, when members of the Friends for All, who had been forever banished from England forced to settle on what is now Gandoor since 1574, decided to unify their various settlements as one nation for the first time.

12 October is Founding Day, which celebrates the ratification of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Gandoor on 12 October 1904 by the Forum, which officially established the Democratic Republic of Gandoor.

Discovery Day isn't really a a celebrated holiday in our nation. Documentaries about the early history of Gandoor will be shown and stuff, but it isn't a 'go out and celebrate!' thing here.

Founding Day, however, is widely celebrated here. There are parades, fireworks, neighbourhoods will have 'communal dinners', where everyone eats together and brings something to the meal, and the Prime Minister gives a speech to the Forum in the evening, usually talking about why the Democratic Republic was established, why the ideals of the Revolution which led to the current government are still important, etc.

Every April 15th, Kadur celebrates the end of the Kadurian Occupation, when an imperialist country withdrew from our islands and our people founded the nation of Kadur. We celebrate by giving students a day off from school, parades, a presidential address, gifts delivered to the less fortunate, and a family feast. It's almost like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the Fourth of July rolled into one.

Kolechia celebrates Liberation Day annually on the 22nd of February. On the 22nd of February, 1982, Kolechian rebels signed the Treaty of Grestin where the Old Arstotzkan forces finally were defeated and ceeded the provinces of Yurko, West Grestin, Vedor and the Northern Territories to the Kolech rebels. It was later on that same day the Free Republic of Kolechia was declared as an independent state.

Everyday on the 22nd of February, Kolechians fire off fireworks and spend a day celebrating while sometimes even burning Old Arstotzkan flags.

[Chemensia]

Chemensia does celebrate a founder's day. The day is known as Republic Day. It is celebrated on the 27th of July. On that day in 1857, the king of Chemensia surrendered along with their ally, the Tsar of Beozemlija. The king escaped to Beozemlija in hiding. The 1st Republic was founded(until the commies ruined it in 1922, but we took it back in 1955). They celebrate usually through battle reenactments, military parades, and fireworks. They also elect a new president on this day.

[Aldina]

The Empire of Aldina celebrates Empire Day on the second day of the month of Messidor. Contrary to popular belief, this is not the anniversary of the conquest of Ostland (which took place in the previous month), but rather the date of the first signing of the Imperial Charter, which formalized the political system of barony representatives that stands to this day. This was seen as something of a happy medium between democratic reformers who wanted Aldina to have a more populist government and the longstanding aristocratic class who wanted to keep authority over their ancestral lands.

[Carena]

Carena has 3 different days regarding the formation of Carena, Federation Day on May 7th, which celebrates the 2068 federalization of the Global Freedom Coalition between the USA, Canada, most of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, Constitution Day, which celebrates the adoption of the Constitution on July 21st, 2069, and Unity Day, which celebrates the union between the Coalition Provisional Federation and the Martian Republic on January 2nd, 2074. Additionally, provinces within Carena celebrate their own holidays, such as July 4th in the former United States and July 14th in France.

We celebrate July 12 each year, in memory of the capture of Tripoli, our Capital city by Raymond IV, Count of Toulouse.

[Jeltronia]

The national day of Jeltronia is celebrated on the 20th of January, which is also the feast of the Saint John, the patron saint of the Kingdom of Jeltronia. The day is marked with a lot of official festivities, which include the High Mass attended by the Royal Family, the Royal address, and the traditional Vin d'honneur in the Stephen Palace. The Royal Family also preside over a parade in the capital.

For the common Jeltronian, celebration of the national day will mean a day spent with family and friends. attending the mass of the feast of Saint John is usually the starter, then followed by quick getaways to popular tourist destinations in the country. Typical activities include camping, swimming in the beach, or a simply barbecue at their homes. The night will then be capped by fire displays which would gather huge crowds.

March 25th, when we finally united Luziyca in 1863. We do celebrate it.
