Do railways exist in YN? Yes. Great Nortend has over 25,000 miles of track, and over seven thousand railway stations.
If so, is there one company or multiple? Though the railways are nationalised under the Board of Railways, the original railway companies still operate all trains. There are currently six main railway companies in Great Nortend, along with a smattering of smaller local companies. These are the Eastern Railway, the Great North and Midston Railway, the Great Southern Railway, the Swent and Hertstland Railway, the Lendert and Limmes Railway and the Hambrian Railway.
Describe the liveries:
All unfitted goods stock is painted grey. Fitted goods stock and brake vans have unique liveries. Private owner wagons have their own liveries as well.

EASTERN RAILWAY
Compartment passenger stock is painted oxblood with gold and black lining. Corridor passenger stock is oxblood with gold and black lining with a cream stripe underneath the windows. Passenger locomotives are painted oxblood with gold and black lining. Fitted goods stock is painted an orange-brown colour, as are brake vans. Goods locomotives are painted black.

GREAT NORTH AND MIDSTON RAILWAY
All passenger stock is painted crimson with gold lining. Passenger locomotives are painted blue with silver and crimson lining. Fitted goods stock is painted dark navy blue, with crimson brake vans. Goods locomotives are painted black.

GREAT SOUTHERN RAILWAY
Compartment passenger stock is painted dark brown with gold lining. Corridor passenger stock is dark brown below the windows and white above with gold lining. Passenger locomotives are painted apple green with gold and black lining. Fitted goods stock is painted dark brown with scarlet ends, with dark brown brake vans with scarlet ends. Goods locomotives are painted black.

SWENT AND HERSTLAND RAILWAY
All passenger stock is varnished wood with gold and black lining. Passenger locomotives are painted chartreuse with white and black lining. Fitted goods stock is painted black, with grey brake vans. Goods locomotives are painted dark hunter green with gold lining.

LENDERT AND LIMMES RAILWAY
Compartment passenger stock is blue with white panels and gold lining. Corridor passenger stock is blue with gold lining. Passenger locomotives are painted blue with gold lining. Fitted goods stock is painted dark blue, with brake vans the same. Goods locomotives are painted black.

HAMBRIAN RAILWAY
Compartment passenger stock is crimson with gold, black and cream lining. Corridor passenger stock is crimson below the windows and cream above with gold, black and cream lining. Passenger locomotives are painted forest green with crimson and gold lining. Fitted goods stock is painted grey with crimson ends, with brake vans the same. Goods locomotives are painted black.

Yes. The Empire is world-famous for its vast rail network.

If so, is there one company or multiple?
Just one, the state-owned Arendeller Reichsbahn (Arendellean Imperial Railway).

Describe the liveries:
Locomotives and carriages of Arendellean trains have all-black paint schemes, with the Arendeller Reichsbahn wordmark displayed on tenders (steam) or the sides of locomotives (diesel/electric).

Of course, we use railways quite a lot.

Each Socialist Republic runs its own nationalized rail industry.

Describe the liveries:

All trains in East Asia are painted in varying ways, although the use of stripes and basic colors (white) is very common. East Asian socialist symbols can be seen on each individual compartment.

Do railways exist in YN? No. Astrolinium is too small to support a rail line. There has been discussion on constructing a heritage railway for tourists, but it was ultimately decided that the cost -- both financial and environmental -- outweighed the potential benefit.

If so, is there one company or multiple? Main line railways are nationalized; there are local railways operated privately or by local governments. In order to prevent competition with the national railways, local railways may not be built to parallel national lines.
Describe the liveries: National railways rolling stock are painted navy blue for passenger trains, with a horizontal white line just under the windows.

Do railways exist in YN? Yes
If so, is there one company or multiple? The railways are nationalized by the Ahakistan Government. They operate under the name 'Resucejis Zvelgti.'
Describe the liveries: Rolling stock has a sky-blue strip across the window section of carriages and a second sky-blue strip along the bottom of the carriage frame. The other color is white. Locomotives are painted similarly but have a gold outline of the blue logo on the front and sides. The acronym for the railway company, RZA is written at a slant beside the logo on the sides.
