The Rezzys: 2017 Edition - Round 1

Postby Sciongrad » Tue Jan 17, 2017 5:32 pm

Hey folks and welcome to this year's Best Resolution of the Year contest! Since time immemorial, GAers have been bestowing the dubious prestigious honor on one worthy resolution every year, based on the collective wisdom, experience, and arbitrary preferences of GA members and fans alike.

The competition will consist of four rounds, each consisting of approximately, 8 resolutions. Each round will last 10 days and successive rounds will begin two days after the previous round began. Additionally, for those of you who think certain resolutions were unfairly deprived of a place in the final round, there will be a wildcard round. To be entered into the wildcard round, resolutions must be nominated and seconded after they've failed the first round. The resolutions with the two most votes in each round (including the wildcard round) will advance to the final round. Everyone is entitled to two votes per round.

Before I begin, I would like to note that this production is made possible by RexisQuexis™.

And finally, if your resolution doesn't end up making the cut, fret not! As Cicero once said, "If a man resolution aspires to the highest place, it is no dishonor to him to halt at the second, or even at the third."

Without further ado, our first 8 resolutions:

1. GAR#355 - Rights of Sapient Species
2. GAR#356 - Landmine Safety Protocol
3. GAR#357 - Promotion of Clean Energy
4. GAR#358 - Explosive Remnants of War
5. GAR#361 - Repeal "Nuclear Material Safeguards
6. GAR#362 - Repeal "Sexual Health and Education Act
7. GAR#364 - Repeal "Cyber Security Convention
8. GAR#366 - Repeal "Stopping Suicide Seeds

That's how it was done last year. An open poll was made in AO.

It was for the last round then.

And I think it would actually be better for people to post their votes on the thread and then tally from there.

Voted "Rights of Sapient Species" and "Explosive Remnants of War". Wally 2017 Honorable Mentions go out to "Landmine Safety Protocol" and "Repeal 'Nuclear Materials Safeguards'".

I'm pretty sure last year's final poll was conducted in a neutral region named "Best Resolution of the Year." It was conducted in AO the year prior as a test for future contests.

Not really incestuous since it doesn't bother with pollination as part of seed-making anymore, and only makes (infertile) pollen to feed its bees (the bees it keeps as food for its insectivorous members). :P

There's a lot of good ones here, makes it hard. I vote for Repeal "Stopping Suicide Seeds" and Repeal "Cyber Security Convention".

Don't worry, Explosive Remnants of War and/or Landmine Safety Protocol will get my wildcard vote.

Since it appears we may have to deal with this, what do we do if two resolutions are tied for second place?
