The Resurgence

Image

For over a year, magic had been coming back to the world and it is starting to show. Some of the ancient artifacts are starting to come back to life and people are starting to notice. The old magic-powered lighthouses around the city were starting to glow bright again and a market for artifacts was developing. People are displaying abilities long thought to be dead and the Welsh are starting to train mages. News of this has traveled far and wide and now, people with either growing magic-abilities and those curious about that lost art are heading to Cymru. Most by boat and most of the port cities are starting to be busier then normal for it. In the port city of Brest is one such city and it was where individuals are gathering to leave for Cymru. But the boats for Cymru was been postpone for a unknown reason and it is unknown for when it will leave for Cymru.

Karissa Gianopoulou, Brest

Karissa stepped off her ship, a large merchant ship-sized vessel purchased by her father, nice thing, used by the Athenian Navy, had some nice cannons on it too. The city wasn't that big, but some rest and trading was well needed, she heard this place had some nice perfume and food as well. "Mmm...lets see if we can find some traders, Alexis, hand me o map" Karissa eyed the city map, following its roots as she continued down the streets of Brest. The sun shone down into the scene, making Karissa look as if she was in a fashion show, bright lights following her every move. Her three guards were Alexis, an older man from Athens as well, the 'head figure' of the group, even if the four were all independent and not at all related to each other. He carried a large greatsword. Next was Nikos, a tough-as-nails Spartan, a true showoff. He also carried a blade, although of a different kind, a large dagger. Then there was finally Karakmanlis, very thin and scrawny, with flat black hair. He hailed from Nicosia, the south part. Meirákio was a bowmen, well, a crossbowman. Might seem like an odd bunch, but were qualified, or else one of the richest Elladian families in the world wouldn't hire the lot. She would head to the markets, seeing what the city would offer, but she settled for a cafe and ordered some coffee and a 'croissant', [weirdly shaped bread is what she called it] while the mercenaries scurried off to do they're own thing for a while.

Glenna Morgan, Brest

Glenna looked up into the sky, clouds decorated its baby blue background and several raindrops dripped from them, lightly splashing onto the streets. One looked like a beast of sort, with long fangs that hung out, and slowly drifted off as the beast slowly curled into a ball. Glenna was hanging from a brick wall splitting an alleyway from the wharves, where she would soon depart to Cymru, or so she thought. The sun shone down on the scene, it was a rather nice day, unfortunately the ferry was running quite late. "Whit th' hell is taking sae lang,!? tis bin nearly an hour! oh whit th' bugger, ah will juist gang 'n' git me a dram 'n' some grub while I hauld me horses.." Glenna jumped down from the wall, the air pulling her kilt upwards as she hit the ground with force. She left the wharfs, heading to a cruddy bar while she waited for the ferry. Entering, she sat down alone, seeing as the bar was rather empty. She was handed a bottle of rum and a simple sandwich overflowing with low quality meat, watery cabbage and moldy cheese, to which she'd reply "Yuck, this is some bullshit, rum ain't tae ill... " she shrugged her shoulders and swallowed up the sandwich, to quickly dispose of its wretched smell and taste. Glenna exited after paying and went back to the dock "Aye nae 'ere?" Then as she looked up, she saw a man, a snow elf, sitting on one of the buildings above her "Huh, wha's he..?..is that a snaw elf..can't say a've ever seen yin o' they before..hey ye, waiting fur th' ferries to?"

City of Brest

Alexis had just arrived in the port city. After charming a barkeep into giving him a free drink and a map of the city, he decided to make his way to the port. He sat on the roof of one of the port buildings twirling his ancient heirloom knife, he hoped it would have something to do with the news of magic in Cymru.

He was capable of suprising people by showing people he was a Snow elf. "Wow!" People would say, "I've never met a snow elf before!" By that time they had given him what he required and he had made his way up a building and out of sight.

He sat on the building and wondered why all the boats were postponed, could it be that news of the magic Welsh may have scared authorities in the area into shutting them down? He thought it was a likely possibility.

Iàcob Catach

Iàcob was at the docks, talking with one of the ship captains. He knew he wanted at least one of the boats in port that was heading to Cymru to stay till he was ready to leave but something has happened out at sea. Apparently there is a storm in the channel that may be magical given how bad it is. So all of the ships bound to Cymru are in port till the storm dies down. Iàcob thanked the captain and started walking back to the city marketplace. Maybe he will be able to find who wants to learn about magic there or maybe in the taverns. Though it should be easy to find since most want to go to Cymru though here in the city. The people feel mixed about the return of magic, half are happy that it is returning and other half is well... not happy about it. But for now things are still civil for the most part since trade is coming to the city and there is a growing market for the relics of old. But for now, Iàcob was more concerned with those heading to Cymru and hoping that those you could find could be trusted with magic and it's power.

Adrian Osmundsen
Brest

He was on the street, and it was such a very alive city. Merchants strode the streets in velvet robes, fur mantles to guard against the chill, and hot bodies underneath. It seemed prostitution was well-alive, as well, with the tantalizing calls from the windows, buxom women shaking their wares, just as loud as the calls of hawkers on the street, trying to sell arrows or shit armor, trying to sell something or another. Adrian didn’t get so many calls, though. Perhaps it was the armor, or the open steel he bore. Guards certainly gave no issues.

A man gave him a look, a shifty look. His face was aimed downwards but the man’s eyes were darting, his fingers fidgeting as though hoping for something to pass by he might think useful. A smile grew on his face, and down the man went, down the street and meandering through the throng of people, aiming his way towards a particularly juicy lad who walked with a country gait. You could always tell the country folk; they walked with a jaunty stride, aimed towards making distance in the fields. Those in the city had smaller strides, on account of the crowds.

“God dammit,” Adrian sighed to himself, diverting from his road and getting onto a far less populated one. One could hear groaning, the sound of a belt hitting hard stone, noises one might hear in a brothel. One look about a corner said that the lad was by no means being mugged, no sir, and Adrian poked his head back from the corner, going on his way. Perhaps Brest was a bit better than he’d thought.

And so, the armored man made his way to the docks, hoping for work.

From his table Iàcob said to the girl, "So I take it from your clothes that you are not from here". "Another foreigner coming to Brest and maybe going to Cymru to learn or see magic?

Elsa Konig
Brest

Everyone and everything gave her a wide berth. It wasn't unexpected. Given that she towered over even the tallest people present. Hell, she towered over most of the horses even. And given she was wearing full plate armor and had a sword on her belt that would give Zweihanders a run for their money, she understood their fear. Ever since news had circulated that all the ships had been postponed on their respective journeys, she'd been wandering the streets, taking in the sights, the sounds... the smells. Compared to some cities the smell was... pungent, to say the least. She desperately wished that she'd pass another bakery soon, or at the very least a soap seller.

The sight of a feathered helmet caught her eye. Another armored being was wandering through the streets. Curious. Not very often did armored beings wander through the streets, alone of all things. The same could be said of her, though no one dared to make a scene with an armed and armored giant. Regardless, her natural curiosity got the better of her, so she decided to follow the black armored man.

He said "So I take it from your clothes that you are not from here". "Another foreigner coming to Brest and maybe going to Cymru to learn or see magic?", which was rather true. Not wanting to say much, she only said what was needed, but in an offputting and rude, snooty tone "Yes, you are correct in your assumptions. I hail from Athens, Ellada" under her breath she whispered "You better not risk taking a peek from the side.."

Gacryrsk Struzwat
Brest, Breizh

Gacryrsk hopped off the carriage he had ridden into town on, counting out coins into the driver's hand until he was satisfied, then walked off. The driver, obviously xenophobic, but not enough to refuse him a ride, glared at him as he left, and quickly made sure the coin was real. Gacryrsk walked off into town, making quite the sight as a stout, heavily armored dwarf, with a pack and a very, very large axe.
He headed off into the center of town, looking for a place to get a drink. For a dwarf, it was never too early in the day to drink. Ever. A bite to eat might have also been nice, but a drink came first. Spying the first place with food in it he saw, Gacryrsk headed in. It appeared to be a cafe. He noticed another pair already inside, who appeared to be foreigners.
Speaking in fluent French, for he had grown up with the language, he ordered the strongest alcohol in the establishment, along with a bite to eat, of a pastry type typical to the area. He sat down, and leaned his axe on the table next to he chair, head down. When the waiter nervously brought back a small glass of wine, along with the pastry, Gacryrsk paid him, then tried the wine.
"You call this alcohol?" he asked, almost outraged. "Don't you have any beer or something? This pastry is quite good, though."
It appears I'm an INTP-T. You're not gonna get much more about me.

City of Brest

Alexis looked down to where the voice was coming from, he shrugged then jumped down, his cloak shrouding him. He walked over to the woman who had shouted to him. He cocked his head slightly, surveying if the woman who pose a threat, he concluded she wouldn't. So he let down his guard and spoke, "yes I am waiting for the ferries. Word has gone round that a storm has appeared in the channel." Alex pulled off his hood, taking all look over to the nearby sea. He then sighed softly and opened one of his books, and began reading up on Cymru.

Well, this wasn’t at all odd. Adrian could feel someone following him. Well. Perhaps that was an understatement. One did not walk about a city with a helmet on, and so he had taken it off. Felt the air on his head, the gentle breeze that belied the vaster crowds about. Yep, someone was, indeed, following him and they really, really sucked at following. Whoever heard of a Giant tailing an Elf? Maybe the bars. Hell, it sounded like the start to a bad joke. “A Giant followed an Elf. Elf died. The end.” Something like that.

How to get away from the Giant. That was the next question. Granted Adrian had met...two Giants who weren’t homicidally mad. Three if you counted Old Man McGunder, though he was just odd in the head and too broken to actually kill things. McGunder had been moderately nice, though. Didn’t even rave mad things at Adrian when he was there. He just made some tea and threatened to cut off his Nephew’s genitals if he ever tried to stab a human. “No, don’t stab you little piece of…swing, that’s it, swing.” Then he told him to screw off and come back with a fat man, not one of those skinny city-dwellers. That had been interesting, to state the least.

Wait a second...Adrian let his peripheral vision see the Giant, feigning interest at some street vendors oranges and seeing a quite nice bosom. Perhaps he could visit later on...later on, though. After the Giant, most definitely. Armored. Very, very armored, the Giant even had a bloody helmet on, of all things. The armor was also...definitely not shelf-stuff. Definitely not the kind of stuff everyone wore. The helmet, just to begin with...Gods above, why was she, of all people, following him?

He saw a cafe, and ducked inside of the place. The bartender was, well, tending to his bar, and Adrian approached, sitting himself down on the least rickety-looking stool and ordering a whiskey.

Iàcob got his food and started to eat it. It did not take him long to eat it and he finished it soon. "So your are a trader well then I guess you will be here till the storm clears". He overheard a someone behind him speaking in French. He turned to see and he saw dwarf and he had a axe. Hmmm he thought, he has not seen a dwarf in a while and there are not that many in Brest. He turned back to Karissa and took a sip of his water. "Well have you heard that the mages in Cymru are rather strict about who their teach about magic? "Since the English are still around and they do not want Inglend to have mages".
