[Nortainland]

Nation Name: The Kingdom of Nortend, Cardoby and Hambria

This flag was adopted officially in the 19th century from a design by Sir Almandy Fleurin. It is based on the Cross of St Christopher, the patron saint of Hambria, with an added red cross overlaid possibly for St George, which is one of the two patron saints of Nortend, the other being St Alexander who is arguably more well known.

The Imperial Eagle is a stylized depiction of a two-headed eagle representing unity under Imperial authority. It is seen on our flag and coat of arms, and appears as an element in a great many government emblems. The symbol originates from the personal arms of Marius I, first Emperor of Aldina and founder of the Empire.

The Imperial Cogwheel is a stylized twelve-toothed gear representing Aldish military might. It appears on document seals, watermarks, and other official symbols, often encircled by a laurel wreath or wings; it is also the sole element of the Imperial military roundel, and forms the center of the Imperial military ensign.

National Aquatic Life: The dolphin. National Tree: Brellachi juniper; so chosen for a legend that said such a tree sprouted from the location where The Compact was signed. It is not known if this is myth or truth, but juniper trees are common in the southern areas where such took place. National Flower: Each Divine Queen selects Her favourite flower to serve in this role, and so it is never the same from one century to the next.
