After the recent attacks by both the Imperial Remnant and by Pirates backed secretly by the Hutts. The New Republic has been on edge and had increased military presence in both the Mid and Other RIm. Things are getting tense for the New Republic and now a military base on the Outer Rim world of Jedha has gone dark. The same world that Death Star destroyed the holy city of NiJedha and where the rebels stole the plans to the Death Star. Due to aftermath of the Siege of Lannik and the planet's supply of Kyber crystals. A military base was established on the surface to keep the planet safe from possible pirates attacks.

However the New Republic has lost contact with the base and the worst is feared. So in response a team is gather to investigate that base and determine if a force is needed to liberate the planet. But due to manpower issues in that part of the galaxy, the New Republic had to hire mercenaries for the mission along with the standard team for the mission. The team is currently on the New Republic Cruiser, the Pride of Yavin. In hyperspace to Jedha as the team gets ready for the mission and was getting brief by their commander.

"Our mission is to investigate why the military base on the planet has gone dark and to find out the reason for it". "The planet itself only has a few settlement left after the Empire destroyed NiJedha and it is unlikely that it is a pirate attack". "However if it is pirates then our mission will be to see how many are there and see if backup is needed to take them out". "If not then we recon the area and find out who it is and why they are here". "The only thing of importance on this planet is Kyber crystals and nothing else". "So expect anything and for you mercs, you only get paid after the job is done". "Now any questions and if not then, gear up and we should be there soon".

The leader of the small mercenary group 'The Bloodied Sword' shrugged her shoulders. "I'd expect no less caution from our employers. I also have just one question." Illyana Marclonus straightened up, her eyes calculating as she mapped out the possibilities. "In the event of this not being a Pirate attack, and in fact being the work of a far more dangerous foe, what support will be given to the ground team?" Illyana was a war veteran, though only the uniform and her vibrosword would give that away. her home planet of Murkhana was now a world ruined by war, and she was one of the few survivors of it. Indeed, her three fellow mercs were all Murkhana veterans, and were considered tough enough to have survived the last battle of their war. Their reputation was what had lead them to be hired by the New Republic.

Conference room
Onboard Pride of Yavin

Siln Tarkin and Corana Baptiste were sitting towards the back of the conference table. The other Mercenary did raise a valid point, if there was something other than pirates then this could go south with this small of a force. "My fellow mercenary does raise a point there Lieutenant Dace, what can we expect for reinforcements? Also how many men were stationed at the Outpost? What type of defenses did they have up?" Asked Siln as he leaned back into his chair and felt Corana's hand on his knee. The two had been working together for the last six months after Siln rescued her from the pirate base he attacked for a client. The pirates had been raiding a shipping company in the area and Siln was hired to permanently stop their operations in the area. Those pirates were sloppy and easy to find, but they sure put up a hell of a fight. They had spent two weeks repairing the ship after that.

Corana adjusted herself before she spoke, "Also what is the infiltration plan? Are the defenses still up, has all power been cut or what is it? I don't want to walk into a trap because of some careless republic decision." Informed Corana as there was slight venom in her voice. She didn't trust military officers especially those she didn't know. She had heard what transpired between Siln and the Lieutenant. She wasn't too thrilled, but she wasn't going to bring it up unless Siln and him we're at each other's throats in which case would not be a good thing. She knew Siln wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone of these strangers if they endangered the mission or her. He would have no remorse, he didn't kill Innocents, but she knew that no one in this business was innocent.

Onboard the Pride of Yavin

Alon was meditating during the entire meeting, sat alongside Lobara who was listening to all the points. She looked at him, his eyes shut as he kept one arm circling his chest and the other holding on to his chin. He seemed concentrated in whatever he was doing, Lobara didn't like to interrupt him when he did this. She then heard the concerns over the stations defenses.

"They have a point, is there no way to deactivate the defenses from here, or eliminate the systems in order for me to fly us to the pads. I can't guarantee we'll make it safe if we don't have a clear landing." The Twi'lek added to the conversation.

"I agree." Alon spoke softly but clearly as to everyone to hear. Lobara looked at him and smiled.

"Good questions and for the first one, "three star cruisers will be nearby and will be ready to aid us if needed". "In terms of ground support we will have support of the Yavin's marines and of the other three cruisers if we need the backup". "For now one squad of marines will be on the mission with us and we will have air support from the Yavin's fighters".

"The base itself had at least one hundred men were stationed there when the base went dark and that was thirteen hours ago". Vemik adjust the projection to zoom in on the base itself. "They had the standard defenses you expect after the Siege of Lannik". "Two turbolaser turrets for air defense and several smaller turrets that have to be man-operated to use". "We do not know if the base still has power or not". "So just in case we will be dropping in two clicks from the rear entrance of the base". "from there will be split into three squads and make our way to the base from three different angles"."First we will recon the outer perimeter to see if anything is there". "If not then we enter the base from it's rear since most of the defenses are weaker then in the front".

"There is no remote way to deactivated the defenses from here without destroying the base from orbit". "If the AA is still up then we have to disable them from inside the base". "If we find survivors then our orders are to get them out of there". "Now anymore questions?

Pride of Yavin
Conference Room

Jack leaned against the wall at the back of the room, silently contemplating the Holographic map of the Jedha base. It was heavily defended, all things considered, and had a lot of men stationed therein. Whatever had caused the base to go silent had to have incapacitated everyone, or at least enough to have control of the base. He glanced around the room, for the first time really taking in his soon to be comrades in arms. It was mostly mercenaries, though there was the Lieutenant, and a rather professional looking officer as well. Several Jedi were also present, their very presence seeming to draw his eyes, side effects of force sensitivity he guessed. I don't know what a bunch of mercs, grunts and Jedi will be able to do against something like that.

After considering the map for a few more moments he stepped forward, letting out a short cough to get the Lieutenants attention. "Sir, do we have orders regarding sensitive data? That base could have clearance codes, encryption data, and the location of several of our outposts."

Lieutenant Colbemil Sonesim

Everyone was gathered in the conference for room for the briefing by Vemik and he was standing next to a holographic projection of Jedha.

"In the event of this not being a Pirate attack, and in fact being the work of a far more dangerous foe, what support will be given to the ground team?"

"They have a point, is there no way to deactivate the defenses from here, or eliminate the systems in order for me to fly us to the pads. I can't guarantee we'll make it safe if we don't have a clear landing."

“I agree.”

The Lieutenant was standing with his own team, listening-in. The mission was moderately standard and he expected things to go...well. He doubted that something massively important had been stationed on Jedha, due to the planet’s lack of apparent defenses, and as such those defenses would most likely not have taken much to take-down. If it was taken-down, after all. The radio might just have gone down, but Colbemil doubted that. They hired too many mercs for this to be routine.

Maybe something important was down there.

“We’re assuming too much,” said one of his men, quietly to the rest of the squad. “If this is an attack, then it was an attack and the base is dead. It’s doubtful the pirates, or whoever attacked, still linger. Our concern then would be possible prisoners.”

“You’re not wrong” agreed Colbemil, straightening. It was a good question, and in his mind preceded most others. Support would be given; heck, they had a cruiser. Light turbolaser strikes had been perfected in past years and he doubted much issue would be given by such things. The defenses would either be disabled or would still be up, along with the crews inside. Of course, that assumed that whomever possibly took the base out had not reactivated the defenses. If that were true than it was far, far worse, he supposed.

Apparently they weren’t deactivated; the LT said so. Damn. On the other hand, though, they had three cruisers to call on, along with fighter compliments. Definitely not pirates and there was definitely something down there. It wasn’t a blue milk run, that was for sure. There was something fishy going on. Colbemil could smell it. Apparently others could, too.

"Sir, do we have orders regarding sensitive data? That base could have clearance codes, encryption data, and the location of several of our outposts."

“He’s not wrong. I recommend you walk through the data centers eyes closed, gentlemen. No doubt the New Republic wants to keep whatever data in there to themselves and I doubt it’d be looked kindly on if you saw it. That said, though, do we know if any classified data was uncovered by whoever, presumably, made this station go dark?”

Vemik Dace

To your question sergeant, We know little of the base and if we can". "Our orders are to secure any sensitive information and to my knowledge, the base has information that is critical to the sector". "That being clearance codes and the location of several of our bases in the sector". "Right now all bases in the sector are on alert in the event of a attack".

"Lieutenant", you know that the New Republic has been rather...... paranoid since the near disaster caused by the Remnant and by the Siege of Lannik". "Or since when have you heard of pirates besieging a Republic world? "For all we know it could have been the Remnant and them cooking up something else". "If it is then the New Republic is taking no chances with another possible disaster". "Now", Vemik was cut off by the intercom.

"This is Captain Shal'yn Ugac and Lieutenant Dace". "We have reach Jedha and so far have not detected any ship nearby the planet". "Get you team ready and report to the hanger bay". "We will be approaching near the planet soon".

Vemik turned off the projection and addressed the room. "You heard the captain, this briefing is over and get your gear". "We are heading out as soon as possible and if anyone has more question then ask them while we are on the transports". "I will tell you who teams are while on route and may the force be with us". Vemik then started to walk out of the room and into the armory.

It surprised him that he managed to keep his cool with being in the same room as Siln. Vemik never forgot what happened on Lannik and expects Siln to do something bad. He got to the armory and started to put on his gear and the thoughts kept coming, of all the mercs that the New Republic hired. It had to be him and that girl....... is she like him? Willing to leave people to die too and..... just why. The anger just boiled but it did not reach the point of him latching out during the meeting. Though if it was up to him..... Siln would not be on this mission and he hoped that the Jedi with them will keep him in check. He finished putting his gear on and and walked to the hanger bay. He took him some time and when he got there. Vemik waited by the transports for the rest of his team while thinking that he wished that more people in his team would not mercs.

Conference Room

Alon got up from his seat, Lobara followed suit and both of them exited and went off to the room they had been staying. While on the way Lobara stayed close to Alon, even taking hold of his hand. He kept silent but she knew he didn't mind since his hand would hold hers back.

"What do you think we'll find down there?" She asked.

"Don't know, but I sense a lot of disturbance. There are many force users in this ship..." Alon responded.

"Yeah, do you think any will recognize you from the Order?" Lobara asked.

"Maybe, maybe not. Back when they exiled me they made sure to sent out a message to every Jedi out in the galaxy. Perhaps they'll remember, perhaps not. Anyway I don't plan on them getting in the way of the mission." Alon said as his mind began to remember the exact words of that message sent to every Jedi.

Warning, to all Jedi Masters, Knights, and Padawans out in the galaxy. Alon Windtine has been exiled indefinitely from the temple and the Order by orders of the council. Any Jedi that comes across him must keep vigilant since Alon was found to use the Dark side of the force extensively, this is a threat to the Jedi order itself as it exposes it to corruption by the Dark side. Again, if you come across Alon, he is a gray Jedi and must not be trusted as such.

Soon the couple arrived to their room and began to get ready. Lobara put on her piloting vest and holstered her blaster pistols. Alon got his armor on, an armor he had assembled from various Clone and Imperial era pieces. He also had a helmet of a Clone trooper combined with one of the Death Troopers. His armor was a combination of Phase II clone armor as well as several addition he himself had added, it was painted black and had several pouches and other gadgets. He took his two sabers and set them on his belt and grabbed his E-11D and strapped it on his back. Lobara waited for him at the door.

"Well you're looking hot as always." She said in a flirty tone.

Alon simply looked at her and gave a small smirk as he walked out the door.

"I'd prefer if I could take that off piece by piece." She said as Alon walked out.

"Stop." Alon said with a light laugh.

The couple arrived to the ship bay and awaited for the rest of the team.

Siln Tarkin & Corana Baptiste

Siln noticed Alon leave the room, he had felt something but seeing him now confirmed his feeling. The two were acquaintances at best, they had both left the order while he was exiled. But that didn't make a difference and this he could use to his advantage, possibly make a new ally. He was short on them, he had made even more enemies then he had thought he ever would. He would have to get that solidified though, he wasn't sure how he would do this at all yet. Siln stood up and walked out of the room with Corana at his heels, the tow went to grab their equipment. They were going to need it for this operation and they practically were going in blind and that was something Siln didn't like.

"I saw you watch that one guy leave the room, who was he?" Asked Corana as she holstered her blaster and put the vibroknife in her boot where she could easily pull it out if she needed. She turned around at Siln as he was finishing up putting his armor on. It was jedi combat armor that he had had since she had known him and she asked why he left the order shortly after he rescued her. he had stated that it was a personal choice, he felt more useful out side of the tape of the order.

"That was Alon he is a jedi like me, or well he was a jedi. He is a grey jedi like me, though we have two different views on what powers are good and bad. He uses sith force abilities which I assume he learned from his master. But I don't really know for sure, all I'm going to say is keep me in-between you and him if you can. I don't know what he is capable of so until I can ensure he wont turn on us treat him with caution. But keep it civil okay ana?" Asked Siln as he turned around to face her and attached his lightsaber at his hip.

Corana nodded, "So you do know him, but I think I will listen to your advice on that. But what do you have in mind? I know you don't just let potential allies go to waste especially if you know them somehow." Informed Corana as the two drew into and embrace.

"I don't know him very well, your job if he is hostile is to deal with his friend while I take him on and signal our ship in. I am sure R5 has everything under control, so I don't see anything being a problem if something were to go south. But we would hold them off until the ship arrived then we get onboard and leave the system if that's the case," informed Siln as the embrace ended and the two smiled for a second before leaving the room and heading to the ship. Once they arrived Corana went stood behind Siln, "So Alon, its been awhile in fact the last time I remember seeing you was shortly before you were exiled."

Then he saw him, Siln Tarkin, a grey jedi like him, only he had left the order voluntarily. The fellow exile came to him and spoke in friendly terms. Alon took off his helmet, revealing his scarred face covered by his beard.

"Siln... the infamous Tarkin descendant. Yes, it has been quite some time, how have you been. I see you have a companion with you."

Jaira exited the room same as everyone else, a frown crossing her face. She made her way to her quarters, where her only real pieces of equipment were. It was in this room that she sought sanctuary away from all of the troubling auras of the mercenaries, specifically the Greys. She turned a corner, reaching the room quickly. With a brief touch of the keypad, she entered. It was a small one, the typical room any ship would have for someone who worked alone and preferred practical things over comforts. Jaira crossed the room over to the chest at the foot of the bed. She reached inside, looking over the contents. Light Jedi armor, grappling grappling hook, and a datapad filled with several codes dedicated to take down nearby security locks, as long as they weren't super secure. These were her chosen items to bring along for the mission, her lightsaber sat on her hip.

After putting her clothes on and securing her gear to their proper places, Jaira exited her room once more. She made her way to the hangar, and, just her luck, there were the two Greys. She walked over to them, standing behind them. It was her job to keep the loose-cannons in check, a job she felt was completely necessary. "You three play nice, all right?" She said. It wasn't an order, more of a suggestion. She felt saber-wise, she would be able to fend them off in a fight, although Jaira hoped it wouldn't come to that. She folded her arms, looking forward.

Alon heard the comment of the Jedi. He simply shrugged as he kept talking with Siln. When Jaira entered the ship Lobara looked at her and said.

"Maybe if you jedi's would stop focusing too much in who they like and don't like and actually focus in completing missions then the Republic wouldn't have to contract us in the first place." Jaira was visibly annoyed.

"Just saying." Lobara said as she continued to attend to the controls.

"Yes, yes the descendant has arrived. Don't worry I wont be saying fire anything soon, but yes this is Corana Baptiste. I found her while I was on a mission and took her with me and we turned out to be a effective team. But I also saw you had a companion as well." Chuckled Siln as he leaned up against the ship now, Corana who felt more at ease leaned up against Siln though she never really took her eyes off the other former jedi.

Then Jaira came on board, "More importantly, if the jedi would act and not be the dogs of the Republic something might get done. Just saying Jaira you may be a skilled fighter, but two jedi and one with twin sabers against one of you. That wont end well even if you were Master Yoda." Chuckled Siln as he watched the jedi carefully.

Jaira scowled at them. They clearly didn't understand their pay relied solely on their performance and behavior. She stood a little ways away from everyone, monitoring their actions. She didn't expect any fight to break out any time soon, and managed to bite back any retorts she was planning. They were definitely how she knew and expected Greys to be. A good mix of dark side and light side personalities. Jaira noted the girl hanging around one of them, by the name of Corana. She didn't look to old, in fact, she could probably pass as a minor.

All they had to do now was wait for the signal to leave.

Alon got inside the ship, he briefly eyed the Jedi and simply moved to the front with Lobara.

"Siln, this is Lobara. She's my..."

"I'm his romantic partner, and the one with the brains. Nice to meet you Siln and Corana " Lobara said as she inspected the controls.

"Yes... what she says." Alon said with a small smile.

"I think that master Yoda would've easily packed us a good fight. Master Rey once told me that Luke Skywalker meet him, he dissipated into dust and became a Force Apparition. Now that's not something you read in the Archives." Alon said jokinly to Siln and Corana.

"I also read about Qui-Gon Jin and how he was suspected of being a grey Jedi. Interesting how he was never accepted into the council for that very reason."

Vemik while the grey jedi were taking, walked over to Jaira. He talk in a low tone to her and made sure that the two grey jedi could not hear him. "All I am going to say is that, do not trust Siln". "I have been seen him in action and he will leave others to die". "He does not care for others, only himself and I do not know of the other grey". "All I know is that he worked Hutts before from what information I had when I checked them out". "I got you back and feel like we are going to need to stick together here". Vemik had a tense look on his face like he was containing his anger.

Then he heard Siln talked about Lannik and he turned to Siln. Vemik gave him a death stare, "Orders were to hold the line or did you forget that". "You left my men to die and you expected me to do that same". "We did our job and saved mine men without you". "Why should I care about a more than a run-of the mill merc with a lightsaber? "Just do you job and we will never each again I will see to that". "Unless you plan on disobeying orders and leaving people to die again".

"Don't scowl me Jaira, you know damn well the records show I left on my own accord. So far I have killed more pirates and scum out here than you probably have. So drop the looking down on us greys thing." Informed Siln as Corana jumped slightly at the surprise of Siln getting riled up by the Jedi. Corana put her hand over Siln's mouth to keep him from saying anything he would regret and after a few seconds she dropped her hand.

Corana spoke up now, "Yes or well practically the same but I keep his mouth in check. You would not believe where it gets us sometimes, we were contracted by a minor hutt lord to take back some cargo that these pirate stole from him. Long story short, we tracked them down and retrieved it upon returning the goods. The Hutt decided to lower our payment, well that didn't suit well with him. So he runs his mouth and gets out dropped into a rancor pit ended up fighting our way out, that rancor stench didn't go away for months." Chuckled Corana as she looked up at Siln.

"But yes, he would have given us a hell of a fight. We probably wouldn't survive that in fact, but yes I wasn't one much for holocrons. I preferred to learn from experience and the other masters while I was at the temple compared to archives. But I learned a great deal about the masters of old for sure." Informed Siln as he was planning in his mind ways piss the jedi off and a small smirk formed on his face.

"Oh look its Lieutenant Dace, I hope you learned to obey your commanding officer. But I hope we will not repeat what happened at the Siege your action was completely stupid and I was surprised you were not court martialed." Chuckled Siln as he remembered leaving the Lieutenant to complete the mission rather than staying behind to fend off the ambush.

"Yes sir." Jack said, snapping a short salute to the Lieutenant before turning on his heel and jogging out the door, followed closely by his squad. They filed into the armory and began strapping on armor and reading their weapons. Jack started to bark orders, at first to the squad at large, then to individual soldiers. "Alright everyone, you know the drill. Check your Tibanna levels and pack at least five spare power cartridges, I don't want anyone running dry while we're down there. Two thermal dets and breaching charges each, if there's anyone down there they'll try and lock us out." He followed his own orders, pulling explosives and tech gear from his locker with practiced precision. "Orrin!" He said and turned to one of the soldiers, a heavy set man whose combat uniform was always just a little too small. "Take your Plex along, four rockets. If those base defenses are active we may need them." Jack continued around the room, observing the squad and making recommendations to some that he felt needed to bring along extra equipment. After making the rounds he returned to his locker and grabbed the rest of his gear.

Jack slid his helmet on, sealing it to his uniform with a sharp hiss. The rest of the squad lined up, awaiting a quick inspection before moving down to the hangar. Their armor was dirty and battle-worn, hardly even 'white' anymore. The blue trim that adorned the plastoid plates was light and faded, but still bore the squad's insignia, a blue hammer. They weren't the most professional looking group, but they were soldiers, one and all. Some wore vests and bandoleers over their plates, small customizations that made each one unique. Jack himself wore a faded long-coat over his. He moved down the line, making sure that everyone's armor was attached correctly and that their weapons were in working order. The final soldier in the line, Mira, had pulled her shoulder during yesterday's training exercise.

"You going to be alright?" Jack asked, not wanting her injury to become a liability on the planet's surface.

She grinned, hefting her A295 sniper rifle with a slight wince. "I'll be fine, sir. This won't slow me down."

"Good." He said with a smile of his own. He returned to the center of the line. "We'll be taking our orders from the Lieutenant on this one, so try and pay attention. On a similar note, please make an attempt to not anger the mercs. The last thing we need is infighting right now. Meet in the hangar in five, dismissed, and may the force be with us."

While the other troopers would likely stick around and talk amongst themselves for a few minutes, but Jack made his way directly to the hangar, not wanting to waste any time. He entered the hangar to find a handful of mercenaries and Jedi already there, and he made a very clear attempt to stay as far from the cloaked Knights as possible. Not being one to socialize anyway, Jack simply perched himself upon some crates and started to run through the maintenance cycles on his rifle for the fifth time that day.

Informed Siln as he was planning in his mind ways piss the jedi off and a small smirk formed on his face.

"I only worked for the Hutts to rescue Lobara from slavery. Isn't that what the republic is against, guess only in words but no actions since there is still plenty of slavery out there." Alon said in a quiet but hearable voice.

"I always found them disgusting to say the least, the Hutts are the scum of the galaxy." Alon continued but then switched his attention to Siln and his companion. "As a wise men once said, 'experience outranks everything', Captain Rex of the 501st."

Alon knew a lot from history of the galaxy, his reasoning to have armor that was similar to that of the Clone wars was because he always admired the stories of bravery and courage from the clones. Still he had his feelings against them for the purge.

So shhhhh and take a breath." Informed Corana as she kissed him then went back to leaning against Siln resting her head back and closing her eyes.

Pride of Yavin
Hanger Bay
Vemik Dace

Vemik held back the urge to spit in the direction of the Siln and turned back to the Jaira. "Watch him and do not trust him". He said in a hush tone to her and he walked away from her. He need to calm down and wanting to kill a man that you are working with is not a way to start a mission. Vemik just wondered of all of the mercs it had to be him and Vemik was near the crates. Vemik got on his commlink and it connected it Captain's commlink. "Captain are in shuttle range yet?

"Not yet but in a few minutes we will be and is your team ready yet?

"They are almost here in the hanger, just waiting on a few to show up".

"Good and Lieutenant I know of your history between you and one of the greys".

"Captain it will not be a problem, I promise".

"I think that you will Lieutenant just remember this, I do not agree with hiring mercs on this mission". "But we have no choice on this matter and I hope that things go well on the surface". "We do not know what to expect and I do not like this one bit".

"Roger that sir", Vemik turned off his commlink and he managed to calm down. He after taking a deep breath got on his commlink again, "This is Lieutenant Dace to the rest of the team". We are set to leave for the base soon, so get here now". Vemik turned off his commlink and looked at those that had arrived so far. What even he liked it or not, this is his team and he has to get make sure that nothing gets them killed. That including each other and Vemik hoped that he could do that.

Lieutenant Colbemil Sonesim

"This is Captain Shal'yn Ugac and Lieutenant Dace". "We have reach Jedha and so far have not detected any ship nearby the planet". "Get you team ready and report to the hanger bay". "We will be approaching near the planet soon".

Vemik turned off the projection and addressed the room. "You heard the captain, this briefing is over and get your gear". "We are heading out as soon as possible and if anyone has more question then ask them while we are on the transports". "I will tell you who teams are while on route and may the force be with us". Vemik then started to walk out of the room and into the armory.

“Yessir!” came Colbemil’s response, getting-up and moving with a stiff and quite crisp method. It was a leftover from his little bit of training and he’d since found it to hold less in the New Republic. They didn’t yell. They didn’t roar. They made little noise and ran to combat like cattle. No fire, nothing, he could see just a movement with the mercenaries and soldiers there looking at one-another with suspicion.

Force save me, he thought to himself briefly. He didn’t want this in his life, at all. He didn’t want this sort of thing with them, on this mission. It would create issues. It would create tensions. Besides, command would be stupid to pair him with some others. His squad was his, dammit. They trained with one-another. They knew one-another. They were one and they were many, if the statement went. The group moved off-getting up and jogging to the communal quarters. Keep weapons in an armory? Hell no. That was for the common soldiers. They were commandos.

They came-in, finding themselves in one of the barracks. The roof was lower, with the smell of clean sheets and recycled air hanging about like dregs, shrouding them with the smell of aluminum and chemical scrubbers. A few lights hung upon the ceiling, and each of them crouched beside their own footlocker, getting weapons prepped. Colbemil crouched as well, opening the thing and getting the dull metallic gray components together. He had his rifle. Nearby, Sazz got her equipment from her own locker, blue skin and hands moving in swift, precise methods.

“There’s a few of them,” she said, offhandedly, clicking a receiver together with a click and cocking back the firing pin. She liked her slugthrowers. They made things quite dead and did so quite quickly. She smiled, slotting a round in the chamber.

“What are?”

“Jedi. You can tell by the posture. They stand too tall, too straight. But they don’t do it relaxed. Like...patrons. Can smell the fear at people, if they knew them as Jedi.”

“Not wrong,” commented another soldier, one of Colbemil’s engineers. He’d been attached, before his joining with them, with the Commandos. They’d hunted Jedi down during the Purge years, though he’d had the distinct honor of being present during the border wars. Blew of three New Republic cruisers, he did, when they were in drydock for repairs. Man even got it on holo and that thing spread like wildfire through the propaganda people. He’d gone New Republic for the simple reason that the man liked killing. It didn’t matter who it was.

“New Republic or no?” asked Colbemil as he brought-on his chestpiece. They’d, instead of the pissant New Republic armor, kept their Imperial Commando armor. It was rated against light artillery, or at least felt like it, but it could take a blaster bolt or ten like a champ. It also helped that they were used to it. He enjoyed the comfortable seal about his chest. Felt like a second skin. Red-White-Red recognition stripes were on the side of it, and each of them, ensuring that they wouldn’t get shot.

“No. Looked to be the mercs.”

“Well, then we’ll just watch them a bit closer. You know the drill. Now, clear?”

“Clear!” came the response. They were damn ready and the clicks and cockings of various weaponry could be heard in the barracks. They all had their armor on. They all had their weapons on. “Buy’ce!” Helmets on. Mandalorian still stuck-around, almost as a reminder of the better days. Back when it was all clear.

His HUD flickered to life, and then the armored squad made it’s way through the corridors of the ship, the New Republic crewmen making way. They were still damned scary and the armor still had the impression. It meant elite. It meant ruthless. It meant death. At the very least it meant those things to, first the CIS, then the Rebellion, then the Resistance, and now to the New Republic. They felt the same way. It gave them nerves.

Made Colbemil’s heart leap, too.

They came to the transports, and formed-up. “Apologies for the delay, Lieutenant. Zeta Squad reporting,” came the call from the Lieutenant, saluting. He could see the other squad there, and the contrast was a good deal wider than Colbemil thought. The men there were dirty, unkept but still held that professional air. They looked like seasoned guerrillas after a long slog blowing trains and transports.

"Roger that sir", Vemik turned off his commlink and he managed to calm down. He after taking a deep breath got on his commlink again, "This is Lieutenant Dace to the rest of the team". We are set to leave for the base soon, so get here now".

Jedi Master Yastar Aelum - Pride of Yavin

The trip, as a whole, was uneventful. Almost painstakingly so. While yes, the "task force" assembled had almost come to blows a few times, the issues mainly stemming from friction between the assembled mercenary groups and the average rank-and-file trooper, it could be safely said that the journey could have been worse. Apart from a few quick introductions and handshakes, Yastar Aelum went ultimately unnoticed by the majority of the other members of the Task-Force, a detail he minded not. As a whole, the middle-aged alien could be described as rather unassuming to a passing eye, cloaked from head to toe in a loose fitting black robe. It often seemed that in a large group, Yastar would go almost completely unnoticed, unless actively searched for.

With hands clasped into the small of his back, Yastar walked patiently along the many corridors of the Mon Cal cruiser, the act bringing upon a sense of calm. A calm that he reasoned was needed by not just him, judging by the raised voices coming from the conference room. He shook his head slowly, a braid of beads tapping against his left cheek in the process. That can only mean good news I imagine.. Without ceremony, the Miraluka Jedi slipped into the Conference Room, taking an empty spot on the far side of the room.

As the briefing continued on, Yastar couldn't help but let thoughts drift, specifically to the closed-door meeting of the Jedi Council which led him here in the first place. It was actually just as heated as the meeting he was in currently. Yastar chuckled internally, Joined that one late as well.. I really need to start meeting those deadlines..

The Council Session had been.. Interesting.. To say in the least. Even though it had been about three decades since the final defeat of the First Order, the Jedi numbers were still dangerously low, so much so that even lending a couple Jedi to the New Republic's mission was deemed "irresponsible". The fact that they wanted three didn't sit well, especially with Yastar. The Council had debated for hours, opinions swaying both ways on numerous occasion. What had finally tipped the balance was the knowledge of who would make up the task force, specifically a certain two individuals that were said to have been hired for this mission alone. Grey Jedi. A term used almost exclusively by the order that denoted an individual who used in some form both sides of the Force. Light and Dark. However, this usually meant the individual was exiled from the Order as well, and almost always on rough terms. So, the Council decreed that they would send two Jedi for the New Republic Task Force as requested, but they would also send along a Jedi Master, to keep tabs on the two exiled Jedi, as well as to keep the sent Jedi out of harm's way.

Yastar's mind rocketed back to the present, as a sudden flare of Dark Side energy burst from the room. With eyebrows raised, Yastar actively reached out through the force, attempting to locate the source, but it was ultimately too late. How odd.. I'll have too remain attentive, perhaps the council's fears were right after all..

With the briefing concluded, the group was told to gear up and prepare for the mission. His gear already packed and ready inside his billowy robes, Yastar made his way to the shuttle bay, awaiting the rest of the group.

Pride of Yavin landing area.
Republic Transport Ship.

<Task Force Starfox, you are ready for takeoff.>

"Very well command, leaving pad in 3, 2, 1." The Republic pilot besides Lobara said as the transport ship rose up the pad and began to make its way out the hanger. Soldiers of the republic walked and jog all around the bay as the ship went off.

"Command this is Task Force. We are in route to Jedha." Lobara said as she checked the controls. Everyone was on board now, some had arrived without even saying a word. Alon put on his helmet and got to the cockpit.

"In what time will it take to arrive."

"No more than an hour." (OCC: I have no idea how long it really takes. lol) The pilot answered.

"Don't worry love, we'll be there in less time than you think." Lobara said as she grabbed Alon's hand and kissed it. She then noticed he had his helmet on.

"You look better without that on." She said jokingly.

The transport ship moved through the space surrounding Jedha and headed to the stratosphere.
