The United Soviet Socialist Dictatorship, more commonly known as USSD, is a pan-leftist region that declared independence from the Coalition of Sovereign Nations on January 29th, 2015. It was founded by former Supreme Commissar Vetelo alongside the original Central Committee. During its early days, the region entered a state of extreme isolationism in which a password was established. This stage lasted three months and it was succeeded by constant development, even though the regional government didn't remove the policy of not letting WA nations join the region until recently. Since then, the region has been prosperous and dynamic, always walking the long and complex path of progress. The USSD is identified as a meritocracy, which means its members are expected to be competent, friendly, respectful and useful in order for them to succeed not just in the region, but also in their everyday lives.

Our region maintains a strong and active military force, the USSF. The Marshal of the Navy, Neu-Ulm is the highest official in the USSF, followed by the Fleet Admiral, and the rest of the Admiralty. Joining the navy is voluntary, though very much encouraged by the region's leadership.

The USSD is also one of the founding members of The Vanguard Treaty, an organization of neutral leftist and anti-fascist regions. It's current active members are the USSD, the Conf of Traditional Socialist Nations, and Helvundia. Our regions cooperate in every aspect possible, including a cross-regional roleplay, easy to obtain dual-citizenship, and combined military efforts.

Union of Proletarian States liberated!

Postby Vetelo » Mon Jan 02, 2017 11:12 pm

Tonight, the combined forces of the USSF, CTSN Cheka, and Exodus liberated USSD ally Union of Proletarian States, from the intruding Right to Life forces. The liberation attempt started at the Minor update, with SPSF forces coming in to assist. After a NationStates conspiracy in which update times were altered, the brave forces of the Left forced the evil Pickwick to surrender and flee. Even though the original assault was not entirely successful, our point was blessed with enough influence to eject+ban 3 Right to Life soldiers at Major. By Major, the endorsements were 12-8 in the favour of the liberation force, and the region was secured from enemy forces.

USSF:
Fleet Admiral Mercia State (minor update trigger)
Admiral Vetelo (point)
Captain Ashenov
Warrant Officer Neu Terra
Chief Starshina Ravnabbor
Starshina The Liberal Socialist State of Mannheim
Senior Sailor New Vapaus

CTSN Cheka:
Fleet Admiral Democratic Peoples Republic of Siberia
Sailor Melorian Republic
Sailor NuclearWaste123

Exodus:
Soldier Altino
Soldier Chronergstin
Soldier Valaned

Mercenaries:
Mercenary Plugo

Assistance in the liberation was provided by Roavin and the South Pacific Special Forces.
Three Communist Bloc natives are also actively taking part in the liberation effort:
Rhaeossau
YugoslavUnion
Ralkira

We are grateful for ALL the support we received in this operation, and very happy to see it succeed.

It's interesting to me to see people who previously condemned USSD for what they purported were OOC reasons now applauding and working alongside them at update, now that they've terminated relations with The Invaders and are defending regions.

I guess it really was political all along.

Am I not allowed to congratulate a liberation that was done, regardless of my personal opinions for the group? While I still have concerns that exist about USSD, and in particular its leadership, there appears to be actual intent to demonstrate more of a mature approach to Gameplay which doesn't express the various OOC concerns I had in the past. I'm willing to give second chance to folks that want to turn a new leaf, it's up to them if they continue to pursue that turnaround.

I was also referring to the SPSF "assisting" USSD, not just -- nor even primarily -- your post. Though I should have quoted the OP to be more clear.

Lol, really?

The Right to Life Army and its allies started pulling out after minor after a three-day occupation.

The RTLA stayed just long enough to ensure that the embassy with Skinheads would be destroyed.

Yes, you "liberated" the region from the troops who hadn't exited yet -- also known as a detag. :p

I'm curious. After you force the natives to join your treaty organization, do you plan to restore their Stalinist, anti-Semitic government?

The first phase of the Right to Life "occupation" was false-flag operation, they didn't tag anything, I didn't want to risk invading other communists by accident. They also didn't even fully pull out, there was a battle for pilers near the start of Major update, and we won. If they had won, they would have taken control of the region again. Thus, a liberation, yes.

I am not going to force them to join our treaty organization, though I did ask Unat and he said he'd use a poll to see whether or not the region wants to. That doesn't mean they'll even join since every treaty member has to approve their joining after they agree to. And yes, I do plan to restore their government, that's the point of a liberation. I will however make sure that no more antisemitic comments are made, though.

Yes, the RTLA invaded UPS and ordered the closure of the Skinheads' embassy in a false flag operation. Last night, the RTLA decided to tag and leave at minor, when it was guaranteed that the embassy would close at major (12 hours later). The leader of the operation said so on the UPS message board, and she also announced it on the Right to Life message board.

The mission's commander: "We'll mostly be out by tonight and the region will go back to its inhabitants."

Yeah, some people are slow to pull out. Question: Why do you think the region had no delegate before your "liberation"?

Vetelo wrote:And yes, I do plan to restore their government, that's the point of a liberation. I will however make sure that no more antisemitic comments are made, though.

Are you going to restore the embassy with Skinheads?

The goal of the RTLA's false flag operation was to terminate that embassy. Mission accomplished!

Well, they clearly didn't restore anything, and they were trash-talking them on the RMB, so I wasn't going to let that continue. Also, it did have a delegate before their liberation, it was Unat. And no, I don't think Unat intends to restore the embassy. And.. While their goal may have been to terminate the embassy, they did a whole lot more than that.

Also, if they knew the embassy would be gone by major (and their goal was to close the embassy), why were they even trying to take the region back? There's also no reason we would want that embassy to be kept, regardless.

You're too much! :lol2:

Here's the region's history: https://www.nationstates.net/page=region_history/region=union_of_proletarian_states

  • 3 hours ago: The Elite USSD Tank Brigade of KB-2 elected WA Delegate.
  • 9 hours ago: The People's Republic of The Pickwick Papers lost WA Delegate status (reign: 3 days).
Dallas Unit 9 (Pickwick) announced, "We'll mostly be out by tonight and the region will go back to its inhabitants." Then, she resigned her WA membership. Then, she rejoined the WA. The eight nations that were left in UPS were waiting for further orders. The RTLA was going to provide support to another military that was attempting a liberation of DonaldTrumpland tonight. That liberation was called off because DTL's founder returned and booted out the HYDRA forces. The eight nations that you "defeated" tonight were just waiting around. One of them, the Patrimony of Saint Peter, was "trash-talking" the natives; but the operation in UPS, as had been announced, had ended.

Good thing that one of our troops took a screenshot of UPS before you "liberated" it:

https://i.gyazo.com/739f85e45a355d1cc9bdc052e372c936.png

In any case, a valiant effort on trying to spin a detag into a liberation. Good show!

How could the region go back to its inhabitants if Right to Life banned most of them?? Those Right to Life forces were NOT waiting around, they had endorsed a point. Had we not intervened, he would have become delegate.

And, just to clarify, I thought you meant they had no delegate before Right to Life's invasion, I misread, sorry.

The "point" to whom you're referring is New Capitalist States -- a soldier from the League of Conservative Nations. I believe he was going to be the lead in the LCN's attempt to liberate DonaldTrumpland, but I'm not really sure.

Yet he was sitting in the region during update.. It doesn't matter what it was intended for, the nation would still have been elected delegate had we not intervened. And, that means it couldn't have participated in another raid, since the nation would have updated. Perhaps read a few R/D guides..?

I assume that LCN noticed that the DTL founder had returned. Therefore, they stayed put and didn't do anything.

United Soviet Socialist Dictatorships and Democracies

Dear comrades of the USSD;

A few days ago, our brave forces managed to do what back on the day was thought unthinkable - the former stronghold of the biggest secessionist movement in the history of our region was successfully refounded by USSD elements.

Said stronghold carried the name "USAC", and it was founded during the Second Salt Wars by the former WA delegate, who decided to leave and found another region, one that stood AGAINST the same comrades that deemed them brothers in arms in the struggle against the oppresive ideals of capitalism, imperialism and fascism. They didn't limit themselves to blame us, but also set up campaigns of hate and sectarianism, for which their founder paid with his own main nation.

Nowadays, the former secessionist movement has resulted in failure, as even its own organizers might have forgotten about its existence. What has caused it to fall into failure, you might ask? The answer is rather simple - sectarianism, radicalism and heavy mismanagement of internal and external policies. These three elements led it to fall into inactivity and irrelevance.

For this, my comrades, is that it is indeed through that the values of perseverance, cooperation and friendship that one will prevail against all odds, no matter how hard the situation can turn. While we do not condemn those who left by necessity, we heavily disregard those who once we gave love and in return gave us a cold stab to the back.

GLORY TO THE USSD!

Congrats on taking an empty region and calling a faction you yourself make clear is no longer in play childish insults they're not around to respond to?

No wonder you called it the "second salt war."

They are around to respond to it, in the form of united socialist and anarchist communes : )

For all who are interested, I've created a new extensive population trend which includes all three active TVT member regions (USSD in blue, CTSN in red, Helvundia in green). It also has the start of SCs terms, the yellow dots, as well as their names. The red dots represent some sort of rebellion against the USSD government, with the name of the main figure in said rebellion. The new graph shows just how well the USSD has recovered from Josh's rebellion, already going over the 300 nation mark. The space between each dot is a week, and I found all the statistics from NSHistory. I've made quite a few of these trends, I hope this is good enough for now.

Here it is:

My main question is, why does the USSD appear to have a tendency of detractors/secessionists in the first place? :eyebrow:

About what?

Because our socialist paradise is prosperous and everyone wants a piece of it, I guess.. No but really, it's because those detractors were people who did not understand how the USSD operates. We are a dictatorship and a one-party system, and when people try to change that it doesn't end well for them.
