From Caesar's defeat by Celtic Super-king Eowyn and Marco Polo's discovery of the Philosopher's Stone - Sakuradite, to the betrayal of Earl Benjamin Franklin against Washington's Rebellion and the undeniable victory Napoleon had at Trafalgar that would eventually send Queen Elizabeth III fleeing to the Americas; mankind has gone through long periods of turmoils, only to find more of them ahead.

The United Kingdom's fall and the the British Empire's retreat across the Atlantic Ocean alongside Europe's feudal nobility during the Grand Armée's advances throughout the continent paved the way for the creation of the modern world's political stage, consisting of the inefficient democracy that is the European Union, and the negligent stagnating monarchy presiding over the Chinese Federation, and the foolish aristocratic Darwinists that make up the Holy Britannian Empire. Little room there is left for other forces to coexist, as testified by the successful Britannian invasion of Japan in 2010 a.t.b., or the ongoing Britannian military campaigns in the Middle Eastern Federation that have all but brought said Federation to its knees.

The world has never once wanted peace. The Britannians have never cared about peace. While it is my dream to bring about a kinder world for my sister to live in, it will, ultimately, remain the silly dream of a schoolboy; for we live in a world of deception, and there's nothing I or anyone else could do to change it.

World of Deception is, for the most part, based on the Anime franchise Code Geass, with the narrative mainly based on the first Season of the main series. The RP has a mild case of alternate history compared to the series, with certain changes to global geopolitics and little plot elements reduced or added to address discrepancies of the franchise and create plot oneness for the sake of the RP alone; but other than that, the backstory of the RP as a whole stays more or less a faithful adaptation of the source material(s).

For those who do not know: Code Geass is an Anime franchise created by Sunrise. The setting of the main series is, itself, alternate history: Britannia is the dominant power of the world, and the result of the British defeating the revolutionaries of the Thirteen Colonies, before being defeated themselves by the rising power of Napoleon. The world of Code Geass is also intricately connected to vaguely fantasy elements, such as the usage of "Geass" - powers that changed the course of history in the first place. The availability of the fictional compound "Sakuradite" allows for the creation of battle mechs - "Knightmares".

My explanation of the setting could only go for so long. For a better look at the franchise, and the series proper Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion in particular (which this RP will be mainly based on) - should you feel interested: most information you can browse is at the Code Geass Wiki on Wikia.

With Code Geass' premise, the potential for Godmodding is close to limitless. So it's more important how you cooperate/cooperatively interact with other players in order to flesh out a good story. We understand that not all players could sit around their computers all day doing nothing but eating away at their keyboards generating walls of speculative fiction, but once you've signed up, try to maintain some presence. If a character or a player freezes in place anywhere between 1 to 2 weeks, the plot will have to move on. Applying the three strike system implemented by unanimous voting of the OPC, all warnings and bans, whether "temporary" or "so banned it hurts", WILL be applied on all players to keep a semblance of order. We're not tight on rules, but we'll enforce them if push comes to shove. The Holy Britannian Empire is, while easily the most technologically advanced, economically powerful and militarily capable of the world's three superpowers, also the most highly stratified according to various hierarchies. As a nigh neo-feudalist political entity, Britannia has a nobility system not dissimilar to that of Early Modern Europe. Britannia also insists on continuing medieval traditions of orders of chivalry, thus allowing for knightly orders and augmenting the Empire's quasi-feudal caste system.

Britannian mentalities are clearly demonstrated by their political atmosphere and in everyday life. The Empire, as an absolute monarchy, publicly discredits democracy and republicanism as legitimate political systems, and fully embraces Social Darwinism to an extent where Darwin has been named a Saint. Discrimination on the grounds of social standings and ethnic roots is rampant; natives of the "Areas" - the Empire's colonial holdings - are dubbed "Numbers" and treated little better than animals. While the terrible lives of Numbers could be improved upon with "Honrary Citizenship", "Honorary Britannians" are never treated with the same respect as for actual Britannians.

Nevertheless, the power of the Empire could not be easily denied or negated. Currently at war with the European Union and maintaining icy relations with the Chinese Federation.

Currently headquartered in Saint Petersburg, its effective area of control extends over most of Russia and some regions in the Caucasus.

Governed by the same Imperial Dynasty for the last thousands of years, nowadays, China is more of an oligarchy, where the adolescent reigning Empress is but a ceremonial figurehead, and actual authority is wrestled by several factions, most notably the ongoing subtle feud of military commander Li Xingke's faction, fiercely loyal to the Empress and her inheritance of the ancient dynasty, and the High Eunuchs, currently responsible for the administration of the Federation on a day-to-day basis.

With the less competent leaders holding power, China houses the largest population of the world, a massive percentage of which are aging, while its younger population suffers from malnutrition and negligence by local governments. The Federation's relations with Britannia are very icy, and on more than one occasion both had gone to war against each other.

Militarized Zone of India
One of the territories under the Federation's control; underdeveloped even by its standards. It is referred to by the Federation government with the diminutive "beyond known lands". India is secretly vying for independence, and to that end they've begun to covertly amass finance by supplying resistance organizations around the world against all major factions. Nevertheless, India is a crucial sector where most of China's Knightmare technological development comes from.

Militarized Zone of Liaodong
The place where Japan's former Chief Cabinet Secretary, Atsushi Sawasaki, hides in and actively collaborates with the governor of Liaodong, General Cao. The Militarized Zone houses a Chinese fleet amassing for the occasion of Fukuoka's invasion. Its goal is to set up a new government in Japan with Sawasaki as its head.

The geographically largest of the three superpowers, and thus easily the one with greatest access to natural resources. The foundations for the European Union were laid when Napoleon's Grand Armée sacked London; Napoleon himself, however, was poisoned by self-proclaimed revolutionaries who did not believe in his thoughts about benevolent dictatorship; an event most likely orchestrated by Queen Elizabeth III's zealous followers.

The European Union was once capable of projecting its military power against the onslaughts of Britannia, but it has gradually been losing territories to the Holy Empire. Its military forces are also divided strategically, thanks to the model of State Armies which exist separately from the whole EU Army, and thus creating a great chance for factionalism.

Politically, the EU is led by three presidents and the Central Hemicycle, a parliament consisting of 200 members which evolved from an earlier "Council of Forty". Nominally a democratic state, the EU is, however, a decadent hive of corruption, where racial prejudice almost reaches the same level as in Britannia, and the toll of war has been tiring out the citizens of Europe. The fact that African nations are all but colonies exploited by Metropolitan Europe does not help the EU's case.

Born in Hong Kong 1980, Cheng was sort of well-off, his father worked at Liaodong as a technical staff. His family is not rich, but definitely not on the poor side either. Even though they are sort of rich, and basically able to provide civilian educations, it seems that Cheng was born to be part of Chinese Federation's military. He passed the grades at schools normally and even able to won scholarship to Shanghai University, though he chose Law as his specialization at the university.

Perhaps he though to himself that he might be able to be sort of officer through post-graduate career soon. After graduated, he enlisted into the Chinese Federation's military, and chose the Navy as his place of service. He went into the military school to learned about military training, art of war, and naval service. Despite the fact that he was partially looked down since he joined after he graduated from University, he trained hard and learned hard. Of course, it took him 10 years and he was 32 when he became the youngest Lieutenant Commandant. It was not without some compromise, though. Li Xingke's faction has been looking into a rising military officer as part of their operation, and Cheng was sighted as the best possible target. In exchange for some strings pulled, Cheng would acted as the eyes and ears of Li Xingke in the Liaodong's Navy, at least until the Kyushu invasion initiated.

Reluctantly, he approved. He didn't liked being part of Li Xingke or the Eunuchs, since he serves to protects his country, but he guessed it was hardly possible to not choose a side.
Weapons: A handgun (the bottom one),, standard Chinese Navy assault rifle,, combat knife.
Special Abilities: Beside from being a military lawyer, he also has military training. Regular infantry training, and advanced naval training.
Vehicles: When not on duty, or in duty, he uses Armored SUV as his personal car.

Granted command of the Knights of St. Raphael for the war with the EU, Farnese served alongside his old friend Michael Manfredi and together became some of the Empire’s most revered knights. Now, as the war continues, the two have found themselves separated, with Farnese increasingly assigned to the front, while Manfredi and his Knights of St. Michael defend the rear.
Calm and clear-headed, Farnese’s utter loyalty to the Empire and disdain for cowardice has earned him a reputation among his fellow knights. Further, possessing great patience, Farnese is never one to allow the odds to discourage him and is capable of waiting for the perfect moment to strike at his enemies. Still despite his deep thinking and stoic nature, Farnese like all members of the Britannian nobility possess a traditional suspicion of outsiders – though he is hardly a bigot like many- as well as a noble’s contempt for ‘cowardly’ actions. Christine Markland was born in 1989 and grew up in Area 6 to a non-noteworthy family of Britannian commoners that has its origins in early post-Trafalgar Europe. After a mostly unremarkable childhood during which she developed something of an interest in history (and earning a degree in it) after trying (and failing) to retrace her family's precise origins, she ended up moving to Area 11 only weeks after the last hostilities concluded, much to the consternation of her parents.
Much of her early time there was spent on trips into the ghettos, searching for old libraries or archives that had survived the war to collect all sorts of documents or books, forming the humble beginnings of her by 2017 surprisingly extensive library of Eleven literature and documents. Naturally, this often brought her into conflict with local Elevens, which quickly taught her to never enter the Ghettos unprepared.
With the establishment of the Tokyo Settlement proper, she eventually applied for a job as teacher at Ashford Academy and ended up moving onto the premises. Despite the older Ashford's disagreement with her hobby, they eventually agreed on that it was probably the best way to prevent undue loss of knowledge, and much of it ended up getting stored in a small, until then unused room on faculty grounds.

Outside the confines of the classroom, Christine is often perceived as a generally friendly, if somewhat withdrawn person by many in her day-to-day life who tend to regard her fondness for history with bafflement and frequently try to convince her to be more socially active with very little success, often excusing herself with the pretense of 'having to do further research' on all kinds of topics. The fact that this often involves heading out into the Ghettos to search the ruins for anything of interest to her however, is unknown to her colleagues. Those who doubt her excuse more often than not simply assume that she has no interest in interacting with them - or people in general.

So probably somewhere around 2011-2012. We could combine this with EU military inefficiency to justify Britannian advances in Siberia; so that by 2017, Britannia would already have taken over large parts of Russia and anywhere from half to three quarters of Iberia.

We start at exactly the same time as Stage 01 of the Anime. So, March 21, 2017.

This would be at least 5 years of hostilities between Britannia and the EU, and more than enough time for Britannia, with its far superior logistics, economy and... just about anything, really; to have conquered as far west as Saint Petersburg and Slonim. I'd like to think a semi-civilian government has been consolidated since 2015, and that the Euro Britannian nobility is a combination of Russian collaborators/dissenters against the EU and nobility from the Homeland.

Guess we could partially explain the Euro Britannian Empire then.

So, I'm gonna be broadcasting news from the front in the OP. A crude map led me to believe there wouldn't be much beside the mention that "Ukraine negotiates peace treaty with Euro Britannia, breaks ties with EU" tho.

Before the post, I posted the map once. Then, as I gathered my information together again, I decided that the map would have been one from that time period described in the post.

The current state of the EU is as I stated above.
