It's almost like every time I remake on this website there's somehow even more fascists on here than before

errrr, what's up ladies and germs. I am a 19 year old pre everything trans girl. I kinda need to get out of the bubble of transfemme tumblr which is kinda all over the place, so I'm gonna check in here every now and then.

Has anyone else seen that new Toyota commercial with the trans woman? It's kinda unnerving me, I don't like that transness is increasingly commodifiable

Rainbow capitalism, it's more profitable to care about us now instead of thinking of LGBTQ people as too risky. It's riding on the backs of popular opinion but it's not real support, at least they don't need the bigot money anymore. I actually haven't seen it.

On a related note, I'm gonna take the plunge and come out to my mom's side of the family (except my mom and aunt, who already know and are accepting). Hopefully, things will go well.

Except that's hard to do. Fundamentally, chasing is basically a fetish. When you are attracted to a partner explicitly because of what amounts to a fetish, you're going to objectify them in a way that makes a meaningful relationship really hard. It's OK to be attracted to trans people, I fully condone it (for obvious reasons), but having a distinct attraction to trans women and intentionally seeking them out is objectification.
-It's OK to have a type.

Chasing doesn't lead to gratifying or meaningful relationships. You can recognize someone as human while still harmfully objectifying them, and chasing counts as that. It can fit the bill perfectly, in some cases.

So, I took the plunge and came out to my brother and then to my mother. I'm not ready to come out to my Dad or my sister yet. My brother couldn't take it very seriously, I don't think he knows how to respond really, but he doesn't hate me or anything, so there's that. When I told my mother, she didn't get mad, but she had a blank expression like she was jaded or disappointed. It made it very awkward. She said "Xeno, we'll still love you no matter what, but this seems kind of sudden..." She said that we would organize to see a psych soon. I honestly don't know what to make of it.

Did you point out the irony of her saying that after she got onto your brother for making that one joke during game night?

And hopefully, the psych will help her along.

I guess in my case, my first response to the "this is sudden" line would be to tell my family I've been sitting on this for nearly 8 damn years at this point.

No aspect of counterculture is safe from commercialisation.

Commercialism is kind of like those memory parasites from that episode of Rick and Morty. Actually, scratch that. Its exactly like that.

Nothing is sacred, every memory, every good feeling, every positive aspect of your identity, all of that can and will be used to turn a profit.

To be fair, the one thing about rainbow capitalism that I like is it provides me with a consistent stream of bigot's tears to subsist off of.

Yeah. But certain members of my family are so damn oblivious that they actually might think its "sudden" in my case.
