What makes a "real man"?

This thread is brough on by a discussion I happened to read on another forum (German one, and predominantly male).
There was a lot of moaning about how school boys these days aren't allowed to "express their agression physically" any more, due to all the teachers being female and therefore by nature incapable of recognising a man's needs....
Followed by more moaning and shaking of heads how these days, there are no "real men" any more, just softies raised by feminazis.
Interestingly, nobody there was able (or wanted to) reply to my question what would make a "real man" in their eyes, so I'm putting this to NSG now.
What do you think makes "a real man" and why? And what would you consider men who don't meet those standards to be?
Incidentally, why is there a social and cultural notion of "real men", but no equivalent "real women"?

I disagree because either to ignorance, differences in education or just assholery. The 'right' side may be viewed as wrong by other people or entities.

Apart from the obvious biological functions I'd say it's all cultural. Some people say you have to be assertive and confident to be a 'man' but those traits are also good for women unless they want to be submissive which is fine by me.

Although myself and Karsol don't agree much, he is right in claiming a REAL man has the ability to satisfy his partner.

That being said, a real man does not satisfy his partner because it is customary in a sexual relationship, a real man satisfies his partner because he chooses to.
