Plastic surgery in your nation

Postby Gandoor » Sat Sep 24, 2016 8:24 pm

Is plastic surgery legal in your nation? Both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery are legal in Gandoor.

If so, is it covered by your national healthcare (if you have one)? Plastic surgery is only covered by our national healthcare if it is deemed necessary by a medical professional. Plastic surgery that is undertaken by someone out of their own choice is not covered and must be paid for out of pocket.

How common is plastic surgery in your nation? Plastic surgery isn't particularly common among men, but it is fairly common among women, due to cultural pressures to meeting Gandoorese standards of beauty. About 36% of women have admitted to having some form of cosmetic surgery done, compared to 7% of men.

It's not very common since transfiguration spells existed before cosmetic surgery, while, the latter brought more access to those who can't "do magic", but transfiguration is safer and more effective.

Is plastic surgery legal in your nation?'
Yes.

If so, is it covered by your national healthcare (if you have one)?
Depends. Some procedures, such as facial reconstruction are covered, while others, such as liposuction, are considered a luxury and are therefore directly billed to the recipient.

How common is plastic surgery in your nation?
Semi-common.

The public healthcare system will partially fund reconstructive surgeries, with health insurance expected to cover the rest. Cosmetic surgeries and cosmetic enhancements are not covered and are almost exclusively performed by private surgeons.

How common is plastic surgery in your nation?
It's relatively uncommon due to social views about beauty as well as the cost involved.

Is plastic surgery legal in your nation?
Yes.

If so, is it covered by your national healthcare (if you have one)?
Yes if it's to correct damage. No if it's to enhance one's appearance.

How common is plastic surgery in your nation?
Depends on the species. Siriusians take very well to intentional genetic modifications provided that the genetic splicing properly takes hold, due to their DNA's ability to self-repair (a necessity for a species that evolved under the intense light of a class-B sun) and their limited regenerative abilities, making plastic surgery obsolete for them. Other species may not be as genetically "malleable", resulting in plastic surgery being more viable for minor modifications. Culturally, modifying one's self in general is seen as simply yet another form of self expression, and there is no overarching belief in the "sanctity of form" that some other cultures have.

Is plastic surgery legal in your nation? Yes

If so, is it covered by your national healthcare (if you have one)? No, plastic surgery is not covered by the National Universal Medical Service

How common is plastic surgery in your nation? Very uncommon. Within Zhouranese society, plastic surgery under the motivation of improving appearance is highly frowned upon with people who have received cosmetic plastic surgery seen as "simply artificial and plastic". As a result, it is extremely rare for a Zhouranese person to receive plastic surgery. Natural beauty and appearance are highly promoted in Zhouranese society.

Is plastic surgery legal in your nation?
Yes, it is fully legal. Although this being said each procedure type must be approved by the ministry of healthcare before it is permitted for use in Purpelia. So typically speaking you are very unlikely to find someone to perform cutting edge surgeries on you. On the plus side what you do get is a higher overall quality as things that are tried and than rapidly rejected by outsiders as bad typically just gets rejected here without trying.

If so, is it covered by your national healthcare (if you have one)?
Yes but only if it is to correct damage incurred due to injury or if there are health reasons. Like for example if you break your nose in a fight. Or if you had a nose job for cosmetic reasons but than it got botched and now you can't breathe properly. Both would be covered.

How common is plastic surgery in your nation?
Aside from repairing accident damage its fairly rare. There is still a certain social stigma to being a "plastic man". And frankly if your procedure is NOT covered by the national healthcare the prices can be... how do we put this... difficult to afford. As in american student loan level difficult. Now you could always go abroad for an operation but if you get botched there or get any sort of complications you'll have to pay for the fix out of your own pocket because our healthcare system won't be covering it any more.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

How common is plastic surgery in your nation? It depends on where in Ru you live. It is quite common around fashionable and entertainment cities known for their physically attractive populations such as Oceanside, Tortuna, and New Ru City, but is not very common at all in most parts of the Empire.

It's legal and readily available to those willing to do so.

Yes, it is.

How common is plastic surgery in your nation?
Body modification and plastic surgery in general do exist, although they are more common among our sub- and countercultures. Once you make that thing available for all, it loses its exclusivity and becomes more and more uncommon over time as it's no longer reserved for the wealthy, carry a taboo with it or when more free-minded beauty standards become prevalent.
