In 2020, 4 or 5 years after WW3 with the Capileans and Eclius, Sweden was in a bit of a struggle to keep control of its countries after the failure of its invasion of Eclius. They did not surrender to their enemy and fought to the end and lost. In the few years after that, it was a struggle holding onto the Eastern United States as the EDF was although powerful with the IoA and their peacekeeping goal in it, it was just a defense force and also a peacekeeping force. The populace of the SAS are still patriotic and still enjoy their country, even the US citizens enjoy Sweden's control. But all is not well for the political struggle. After Mitchell was killed and Perez took over, he has brought the country at least back to 80% of its power and its wealth has boosted. Generally it's almost improved itself back up to the top but something sinister has occurred underneath this now peaceful country.
The Swedish Socialist Liberation Army
But some of its citizens have decided that this government has been nothing but a failure and that democracy and socialism don't mix so, a rebel group calling themselves the Swedish Socialist Liberation Army or the SSLA has begun to conduct small scale operations but lately, they have got more ambitious, even conducting massacres for the said purpose of "purifying the country of the capitalism scum". Because of this, there aren't that many people wanting to support their cause since the result could look terrifying. But that doesn't mean they aren't crazy. Generally be careful if you encounter them in the field and take them down at all costs. Otherwise, they might take dozens of lives and cause massive damage. Their leader is Isabelle Montes and is a bit of a lunatic. You might want to kill her if she acts suspicious.
The Swedish Fascism Freedom Army
These people think that this government should not have either capitalism or socialism so they decide that it's better to resort to fascism than find somewhere else to take control of. Their numbers are even smaller due to people being well informed of the negatives and dangers of fascism but that doesn't mean they don't have probably some up to date Swedish equipment on their hands. Their army is small but can pack a deadly punch if given more advanced equipment. You on either side will want to take them down as they will kill anyone from both sides and do not care about what happens to anyone as long as their goal is complete. Their leader is Johnathan Walker. Be careful, their leader has read on books of strategy and has seen some of history's greatest military moves. Don't underestimate this tactician.
The Swedish National Guard And Defense Forces
You can guess what this faction's goal is. The Swedish Defense Forces are to obviously protect the government and the country from either invasion or terrorism but that is also what the Dead Men Unit is for also. Since the civil war might get very hot or nuclear, their goal is to put an end to both the Fascists and Socialists because both sides are really terrible in terms of their efforts to their goal. If they don't succeed in their goal to protect the Swedish people and the government, the country will be lost and will probably spiral into a quickly falling economy and mass oppression. Not only that, but they might NOT be allies with their old friends and make some new shady friends. You might wanna align yourself with this one if you wish to protect your ally.
The Earth Defense Force
Since the EDF'S headquarters is in Stockholm and since eventually others will have to come in and help intervene, their efforts are mostly peacekeeping and assisting in humanitarian efforts for the Swedish people. Their alignment is mostly neutral unless either the Socialists or Fascists and possibly the SDF obtains a nuclear weapon or WMD. In that case, their goal is now to stop them from using it on any of the Swedes cities as many innocent people will die and tensions with the world will escalate to a point where no one will want to ally themselves with Sweden. So the EDF will come in and defeat whichever side possesses a WMD and plans to use it on many people. So in a way, Sweden could be defeated by even its own organization it created.
Remember this. If you ask if the SSLA or the SFFA has any territory, remember that this is before the civil war even breaks out yet. This is during the initial stages. Terrorism is their first phase in making themselves known. Once they turn to more ambitious phases, like capturing an entire town or massacring it or assassinating a high ranking public official, then it has officially started and now it's time for everyone to intervene if you wish to.
