05: False Allegiance

Members of the Council are attacked in Paris, France. XCOM responds in an effort to secure a VIP thought to have been involved only to encounter a team of Thin Man looking to eliminate loose ends. The VIP is successfully extracted for interrogation and all aliens are eliminated.

06: Compromised

A member of the Council is confirmed to be working against humanity. A Singaporean politician thinking himself justified, XCOM s sent to arrest the man and encounters stiff resistance from aliens and, later, EXALT. The traitor is taken into custody.

07: Those Who Stand Against Us

XCOM faces off against EXALT for the first time in Greece. The pro-alien group is attempting to hamper XCOM activities in Eastern Europe, and unsurprisingly a fierce battle ensues. All EXALT terrorist encountered are killed. Sunday and Dr. Ashon are transferred to a secondary facility in Kenya to oversee MELD research.

08: Friends in Low Places

The Chinese Triads are confirmed to have ties to the Thin Man after Shaojie Zhang contacts the Council. XCOM is sent to extract the man who brings along stolen alien technology.

09: Danger Close

Military units investigating St. Johns, Nova Scotia, Canada, disappear after several strange occurrences in the region. XCOM conducts Site Recon only to encounter a Chryssalid infestation. Due to poor weather conditions a precision airstrike requires the soldiers to activate a transponder aboard a docked whaling ship. The town and surrounding area is thoroughly incinerated with acceptable losses to personnel.

10: Our Blood

Sunday and Dr. Ashon have a disagreement concerning ethics (and a willingness to sacrifice for the greater good) which leads to the younger woman quitting the organization in a fit of anger. Attempting to storm off the facility, the Kenyan Research Base comes under heavy attack. Sunday successfully escapes the base while Dr. Ashon is forced into a bunker. XCOM rescues the doctor after utilizing Sunday's new weapon, the S.H.I.V., which proves very effective.

11: Our Will

XCOM attempts to rescue Sunday who is currently on the run with military personnel to protect her. They arrive too late as the aliens successfully intercept the young genius who is severely injured in the attack. Sunday is rescued at a high cost. Following this the Council would approve Mech/Psionic soldiers.

12: Humanity

The aliens launch an attack against Egypt. XCOM, still in Kenya, successfully counters the offensive.

13: Eviction

XCOM moves against the main EXALT base in Bangkok, Thailand.

14: Fury

The aliens launch a second offensive into Europe. XCOM joins with French military forces to fight back in the streets of Paris and encounter Sectopods for the first time Much of the city is ruined in the fighting.

15: Old Wounds

XCOM leads a counteroffensive in Munich, Germany. Although fighting here is less intense as it was in France the toll is still high. The existence of XCOM becomes publicly known.

16: Red Line

An alien UFO is successfully shot down over the Pacific Northwest and a high-ranking Muton killed by XCOM soldiers.

17: Trust

XCOM is contacted by an unknown person. Soldiers are dispatched to rural Washington state to locate said individual only to encounter Thin Man doing the same. The unknown contact is discovered to be a humanoid alien (Black Eyed Child) named C-371. The turncoat is rescued.

18: Area 51

Shortly after C-371's rescue Groom Lake comes under attack from an enemy battleship. Soldiers successfully hold the base, and with the Reid joining in they reactivate an experimental railgun weapon that manages to shoot down the UFO. The ship's reactors, however, become unstable and threaten to destroy the base, leading to an assault against the UFO (with C-371 assisting) to bring the runaway reaction back under control.

19: Gangplank

A second alien battleship is attacking Shanghai. XCOM successfully manages to board the ship midair and bring it down from the inside. The UFO crashes into the ocean. The main alien fleet arrives on Earth.

20: Overseer

With C-371's help XCOM successfully intercepts an Overseer.

21: Minutes to Midnight

A plan to end the war is formed. An alien base in Antarctica is attacked by XCOM with the goal being to steal a UFO.

22: United Front

With the stolen UFO, XCOM successfully boards the Temple Ship (currently in low orbit) with a nuclear device. The soldiers take the bridge and kill the alien leader, however, the nuclear device is damaged and must be manually activated. A volunteer stays behind to destroy the ship. The soldiers successfully escape, and with their leadership dead the alien attack on Earth comes to a halt. The war is far from over but humans have inflicted a major blow against their enemies.
