IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS

WorldVision 51 will see the Committee elections, which take place every five editions. If you wish to be considered, you could write a manifesto and post it in the sign-up thread during WV51 or announce your intentions. YOU MUST HAVE TAKEN PART IN WORLDVISION 50 TO BE ELIGIBLE TO BE A COMMITTEE MEMBER.

The election will be conducted under the single tranferable vote to elect five members, and this will take place alongside host voting of WorldVision 51.

A beginner's guide...

Welcome to The 50th WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest aims to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign-up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before [CUTOFF DATE]. You will not be penalised if you sign up and don’t post a song. These songs will be submitted in the IC thread after a host vote.
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

Rules and Regulations

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimised by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if one's entry is not completed having made a reservation by the deadline, the perpetrator will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalised or not.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Britonisea, Electrum, Mister X and Talvezout) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Special 50th Anniversary Song Contest

To celebrate the 50th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest, an additional special anniversary contest will be held. The contest, called the WorldVision: "Your Favourites" Edition, is a two-stage contest. The first phase of the contest will find the best song from WorldVision 40-50. In the second phase of the contest, the winning song will go against Todlichebujoku's Cyanide Eyes, the winner of the 40th Anniversary contest to find the best overall song for the first fifty editions of the WorldVision Song Contest.

Rules
 1. The runners-up of the 50th WVSC host bid will host the celebration; if they refuse, then the hosting will be passed down the list of third place and so forth until a prospective bidder is found.
 2. One entrant per OOC user (ie. no puppets), and that nation will send one song to the Song Contest.
 3. The songs that are submitted must have appeared during WV40-50 inclusive. For all nations which did not have any participation in WorldVision 40-49 inclusive, they may submit a song that they have submitted in WorldVision 39 and before; except for a song, if any, that they have submitted to the WorldVision 40: 'Best Of' Edition [this clause is specifically intended for those who have not participated in WorldVision for a long time and want to reenter just for the anniversary].
 4. Nations will vote for their favourite song using the 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format. This will determine the Phase I winner.
 5. The Phase I winner of this particular contest faces off against the winner of the Anniversary contest (Todlichebujoku's Cyanide Eyes) in Phase II of the contest. This time, nations will choose their favourite song choice between the two (the one selected for WV40-50 and WV40) songs in the thread to determine the best overall song of WV1-50.
 6. This does not preclude Todlichebujoku from submitting an entry into this contest.

Miscellany
 • It is not necessary to participate in WorldVision 50 to participate in the anniversary contest.
 • This thread will also act as the OOC thread for the other contest as well.
 • Rules 2, 3 (except the consequence is disqualification), 6, 7 and 9 will still apply.

Timing
 • Entries will be submitted to the IC thread up to Monday 5th September, 20:00 BST
 • Phase I Voting shall occur from Monday 5th September, 20:00 BST to Monday 12th September, 20:00 BST
 • Phase II Voting shall occur from Monday 12th September, 20:00 BST to Monday 19th September, 20:00 BST

RTVK PRESENTS

THE OFFICIAL HOST BID
FOR THE 50TH
WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST
IN KASIN, KALOSIA

"The World's Living a Celebration"
#kalosia50

This bid consists of 3 components, each complementing each other. The first two components are the official video and documents of the bid, linked above. Both of these segments are entirely IC. This post is the third component of the bid, and focuses on the OOC and RL aspects of the contest.

IC Thread
Image
ABOVE: The Izmeduan voting from the 19th World Hit Festival.

The IC thread will follow a fairly conventional layout; the first post will consist of links (to the OOC thread, to postcards, to each entry, to commentary, etc) while the following post will be the opening act and hosts intervention. Then entries and commentary are posted.
Once the deadline passes, I'll post (a placeholder of) the interval act and then you may post your votes. Kalosia intends to vote about halfway through, and we'll do so in a way similar to the voting segment of WHF19, which means the half-time scoreboard will be revealed.
At the end of the voting, the final scoreboard will be shown, revealing the full results. The winner will then post their reprise, or if they wish I can post it on their behalf.

Postcards

Of course, I don't have time to make videos for everyone. The postcards you will see on the IC thread will just be the info card shown ICly at the end of the postcard. I'll take care of the design, which is based on your flag; all you need to do is send me your participation history (namely the edition you debuted, amount of editions participated not counting DSQ, your best and worst placings, and editions you hosted), as well as the theme ("The World's Living a Celebration") in your official language (unless it's English, which in that case let me know). I can get your entry info from the IC thread. And if your flag on the forums isn't your IC flag, I'll ask to see your IC flag if I can't find it/don't remember what it looks like).

WorldVillage

Unless there is enough interest, I don't think there needs to be a separate thread for it. There will be a stage and you can pretty much send whoever you want to perform (let's keep them relevant to the contest though). This could be RP'd through IC announcements in the OOC thread, as well as by weaving it into your entry in the IC thread. If a new thread is called for, I'll be willing to invite someone to co-manage it with me.
The WorldFair will also occur in the WorldVillage, and each nation gets 1 booth. You can pretty much promote anything about your nation in it, ideally it'd be tourism or an export. If a new thread isn't made for WV (WorldVillage, that is), then you can just talk about your booth in your commentary or add a line about it in the background paragraph of your entry.

RPing your entry

Details of the stage are available on both other components of bid. As mentioned, there will be 165 musicians at your disposal in the orchestra. You can have the host conductor, Eldin Sakranova, leading the orchestra when your song is performed, or you can bring your own. You don't need to use each member of the orchestra either; perhaps your song doesn't use too many instruments to start with, or you want to also partially use a backing track? You can also opt out entirely from having the orchestra and just use a backing track for your performance.

Commitment

I pretty much have the opening act ready (it'll be my entry if my bid doesn't win) and 2 weeks is more than enough time for me to work on the interval act. I'm currently on summer break and, with WHF26 (which I'm hosting) ending soon, I can devote more time to hosting WV50 (as if the 2 months it took me to prepare this bid in its entirety wasn't enough time already). If there are any problems or RL obstacles that disrupt my ability to perform my duties as host, I'll either be open about it or let a member of the WV Committee know. And if there are any issues you guys have with my hosting, let me know and we can work it out together. Finally, if you have questions about my bid at all feel free to let me know and I'll gladly answer.

See you at the 50th WorldVision Song Contest in Kasin, Kalosia.
We hope you enliven the celebration with us!

Estogium is participating as a puppet of Britonisea, duh.

Since Aloquirbe doesn't exist anymore, any of their songs are Estogium. Same as with Nightom is Britonisea's songs.

Nation Name: Estogium
Official Broadcaster: RVRC (Rwhitten Vefecosoin-Radeo Cairkovoin
Song Title: Unconquered
Artist(s) Name(s): Agosté Rieno

Following a disappointing WorldVision Song Contest, Estogium is ready to redeem it's self by sending pop-star, heart-throb, Agosté Rieno. Agosté is a 21 year old male who was born in Alosable, Aloquirbe (or nowerdays Estogium). Growing up, Agosté enjoyed watching both the WorldVision Song Contest and the World Hit Festival. He wanted to win WorldVision. But first, we must conquer World Hit Festival. He placed third, which was good enough for him. He was then asked by RVRC - the new broadcasters of WorldVision, to sing his song "Unconquered" in the Golden Edition of the WorldVision Song Contest. He accepted.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

RTVK is keen to confirm participation in the 50th WorldVision Song Contest, the golden edition. In fact, a lot of preparation has already been done in advance...

You may have heard of the mysterious and frankly quite vague "WorldVision special event" that we've gone out of our way to prepare, making a fuss about it and even sending TGs just to prepare for it. Well...

We can now reveal that the "WorldVision special event" that RTVK intends to hold is, in fact...
...the contest itself.

XX | "Overtaking Me" by Tess Philipa

Postby Britonisea » Sun Jul 31, 2016 4:00 pm

Nation Name: Britonisea
Official Broadcaster: BVC
Song Title: Overtaking Me
Artist(s) Name(s): Tess Phillipa

Tune: Lovewave- Armenia 2016, Iveta Muckuchyan

The song "Overtaking" was written by herself when she broke up with her partner - the one who stayed with her after she received physical abuse from her neighbour when he pushed her down the stairs for no reason at all. "Overtaking" is her anger and her sadness fighting in her inner emotions. She doesn't know where she should feel sad or feel anger or even, something else. She states that "Overtaking" doesn't necessarily mean it's her anger overtaking or it's her sadness, but it is how the audience perceives it. She developed the song with music producer Takkin Chew, who is a famous writer who wrote Abanta Fonely's "A Step at A time" which was a really successful song in Estogium and Britonisea - to name a few countries.

When a 6-time champion, 3-time champion and a WV soon-to-be champion says "They're going to host WV", The Britonish say NO. Or at least, not without a fight. Stay tuned for a sneak preview of the bid :-).

Kalosia: ... I trusted you.

Edit3: Right. I could fight this bloody battle...or...I could host a WorldVision 50 special event...hmmm

The typical Worldvision trajectory is that new nations struggle to gain footing, while returning nations show consistent strong finishes. Vettrera's history has been more of the opposite. Vettrera debuted in WV31 and placed 4th, since then they have never been able to match that peak. Misty Adams performed "Let Me Go" in her first edition, now to honor her during WV50, NCAT will be hosting the Origins Song Contest. Six songs, all with Misty's production credits, will compete to represent Vettrera in WV50.

Please assign six points to your favorite tune, 5 to your second, and so on and so forth.

After a very long break, ETV has announced that Elejamie might be returning to the WorldVision Song Contest. However, they haven't confirmed a song, an artist or if they are actually going to compete, so watch this space for more updates.

Because the main RP I'm in is running a bit slow at the minute, there doesn't seem to be any upcoming rugby or hockey tournaments in NS Sports and I don't really have anything else planned for the minute, I might see if I can send a guy or two here.

Because the main RP I'm in is running a bit slow at the minute, there doesn't seem to be any upcoming rugby or hockey tournaments in NS Sports and I don't really have anything else planned for the minute, I might see if I can send a guy or two here.

Yes!! I was going to use that a few editions ago but withdrew :p

Anyway. I'm in of course. Song and artist TBD. Oh and I'm bidding!

You know a song is good for WV when it gets stuck in your head and you start making up lyrics for it

Welcome back! WorldVision is throwing surprises left and right these days. Kwadai might win the host bid (competitors include Polkopia, Kalosia, Britonisea, and I) and you might find yourself in the top ten.

I've dropped several hints (not limited to just the vague posts in the WV49 OOC thread) so frankly at this point I'm a bit surprised you (or anyone else for that matter) didn't see this coming...

Anyway, I'm calling dibs on the following songs:
— Mozart's House by Clean Bandit (to be made into an opening act called "Who Will Get 12 Points?" performed by Ruslan Ǧamal, hence my WV49 voting announcement; if my bid doesn't win this will be my entry instead)
— Europe's Living A Celebration by Rosa (to be made into an interval act called "The World's Living A Celebration", artist TBA)
— I'll Be Waiting by Adele (the tune for my WHF winner Amiral Me by Paola Amadin; this will be my entry if my bid wins)

Also, pre-confirming Saviera.

@WorldVision Commitee:

West Aoreatoa should also be disqualified for failing to submit its entry entirely. It was No. 22 last edition.

With the end of the 49th Worldvision Song Contest, and Polkopia earning a respectable 5th place in Electrum, the time has come for the PNB to select another song for the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest. Therefore, the PNB has decided to opt for a National Final yet again to determine Polkopia's entry along with the same format as before with the results being decided between a 50/50 split between international and national juries and domestic televote.
In order to vote, please send a Telegram to Polkopia with the songs rated in Worldvision format (12 points to your favorite, 10 point to your second favorite, and 8-1 points for the rest.)

Because when you said "special event" we all thought it was going to be an actual special event...That's all. You carry on. Good luck.
