Yes others do have different tastes but that doesn't change the fact that it is still rude to say one person is the only attractive one out of others.

So you have a room full with heavy people. And one slim person. Next you start a contest "Slimmest person of the room”.

If one said “there’s only one slim person” then you’re rude?

You are just another who tries to determine the taste of another. Which is something what I do consider as something rude.

I do understand Basseemia, but if you volunteer to be a part of a sexy/cutie contest then you could be the subject of people who feel you're not sexy or cute at all. It’s maybe not political correct to consider none but one sexy and cute, but it doesn’t necessarily means you’re rude.

You know? As a Latino, this isn't about political correctness. It's about having tact in how you say things.

Noone's trying to determine your taste.

I like women, and have given compliments to women a lot as part of being a guy who's out looking for a woman. But I was taught that I shouldn't give compliments at the expense of the women around the woman I am trying to hit it off with, as that'd make me look like an asshole. And women are told not to give a compliment to a man at the expense of his buddies.

And it's not because Latin America is this "politically correct" place. It's simply because people don't like that shit.

So you're basically demanding I should express that more people are sexy and cute even if I do not feel it is. All in name of the political correctness.

No, but thank you.

It isn't a big deal. It's just my taste. If you feel sexy and cute, while I consider you're not, then you still can feel sexy and cute. I'm of no importance.

If you can't handle critique, don't join a beauty/cutie contest.

In a bar or on the streets, I do not walk to people to express they are not cute or sexy. If the same people join a contest, I might do.

If you can't handle critique on your manners and how your manners seem like you picked them up at a bar or on the streets sweetie, I suggest you don't make stupid remarks.

Clearly this isn't about "political correctness", is about the fact that the woman you complimented thought your comment was rude because it was backhanded. It has nothing to do with "political correctness" and more about your manners. I am a man, and I'm supposed to be slow, and I could pick this up really quick. Apparently you can't for some reason.

Regardless of the context, it makes you look rude.

If you need to compliment someone at the expense of others, it's not much of a compliment. You can say "I like how Basseemia looks" and leave it at that. You can say "I find Basseemia sexy" and leave it at that. We all know you mean that you find her attractive. What you think about the rest of us is completely irrelevant to the compliment you want to give.

There's no need for the qualifier tone of "I only find Basseemia sexy" or "Basseemia is the only sexy woman in this contest" or "Only Basseemia seems sexy and cute". That's not much of a compliment, and if it would have been towards me I'd have quickly flipped the tables on you and said "so you think I'm the most handsome of the ugly? That's not much of a compliment, is it?"

NP, you're being rude.

If you said something like, "Wow, Basseemia, you're cute!" without commenting on what you think of the other contestants, that would be fine. Nobody's saying you have to compliment other people. Just leave them out of it if you have nothing nice to say.
