The Unified Western States is holding the Presidential elections in a few months. Upon request from the people, the Western Election Council is now allowing foreign nations and give their opinion as to who they think should be elected. This is in order to give voters and the candidates a chance to see what candidate the world prefers. This may or may not have any influence on the election. You may vote and explain why you picked the candidate you did or you can just vote. Either way is helpful, but an explanation would help quite a bit. Below is some information on each candidate:
Note: Due to popular request, a tally of money received by all candidates will be posted shortly.
Rachel Collins -Western National Liberal Party (WNLP)
Rachel Collins has never run for President, but is considered a strong candidate for the WNLP. She is also the youngest candidate to run for the WNLP; at only 33 years old, she is considered by critics as naive. She is currently the Senator from Western Montana and has maintained a consistent 95% approval rating among Montanans. She is well know for her political ideology, which incorporates some parts of socialism and mixes it with far-left policies. Her campaign is based off of tighter regulation of businesses, increased spending in welfare and education, and an increase in involvement on the world stage.
Marisa Winter -Conservative Party (CP)
Marisa Winter has run for President for the last three elections and has come very close all three times. She is currently the Senator from California and has passed sweeping economic reform in that state including less regulation and lower taxes. Recently, she has rallied against the construction of the StarLift Space Elevator due to its immense cost. Her campaign is based off a platform of more isolationism, a smaller government and giving more power to the individual states.
Daniel Scott (Incumbent)-UWS Socialist Party (UWSSP)
Daniel Scott is running for re-election. He advocates for full nationalization of all banks and insurance institutions, as well as health care institutions/hospitals. Under his control, the economy has stayed stable, although civil rights have fluctuated a little. He has also overseen that construction of the StarLift elevator and is in direct conflict with Marisa Winter over the matter. He has also overseen the largest increase in military spending ever in the history of the UWS. His policy is based off of continuing with the socialization of the UWS.
Ian Fairmen-Republican Party (R)
Ian Fairmen is the candidate from the Republican Party. Due to the deep seated distrust and dislike towards the two traditional parties, Ian has seen very little success in politics. He advocates for the same values as Marisa Winter, but is less strict on them and more willing to flex. the biggest difference is his his stance on immigration. He believes that immigrants should be allowed into the country more frequently. He is different from other Republicans because he advocates for more spending than many Republicans are used to. He is currently the head of the Californian Republican Committee.
Bridget Throne -Democratic Party (D)
Bridget Throne is the candidate from the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is plagued by the same distrust as the Republican party, however Bridget has managed to attain a somewhat large following in Idaho and Oregon. She is considered a less extreme version of Rachel Collins and is currently the governor of Idaho. Her main political idea is that although the tax rate does need to be lowered, it shouldn't go below 50% in order to keep the economy strong.
Lucas Richardson -Global Green Party (GP)
Lucas Richardson is a radical candidate. He is a well known, young environmental activist who has ties to the Ecological Protection Force, a ultra-radical eco-group. He has run every year since he came of age but has never won due to his radical personality and suggested policies. An example is the rule that all cars must be banned from the roads and all power must come from wind, solar or water. He has a medium-sized following in the west of Alaska and in the central parts of British Columbia.
Conrad Barker -Free People's Party (FPP)
Conrad Barker is running for the first time as the candidate from the fascist-advocating FPP. He is relatively unknown, being a minor political advocate in his home-town of Kensington, Nevada. However, he has gained recognition due to the recent banning of the other Fascist party, the UWSFP. He advocates the creation of a fascist regime in place of the democratic system currently in power. He also advocates the advancement of corporations and a corporate economic system. Although not overly popular, he has found a large support base in New Mexico and Southern-California. Seen as the most radical candidate, but also has growing influence.
Josh Anton -Western Communist Party (WCP)
Josh Anton is running for the first time as the candidate from the Communist party. A relatively new party, the communist part has never gained much traction in the UWS, but has been gaining popularity in recent years as acceptance of socialism rises. The Communist party has started large ad campaigns claiming that socialism does not go far enough. Josh has a lot of political experience. He was governor of Idaho for two terms, then became the senator of Idaho for five years. He is now out of politics, but hopes to use his experience to win the election. He advocates turning the UWS into a communist society, with equal wealth distribution and more freedoms and opportunities for workers.
