Kelso Windtide, Lord of Tidespring
Star Destroyer Ser Alvis Jenson, Tide’s Edge Star System
14th Day of the Sixth Month, 375 AWU

Even after six months of being betrothed, and over two and a half years of being with her, Kelso still found himself getting distracted in meetings simply by gazing lovingly across at her. His trusted Knights and close friends had of course quickly noticed this behaviour and proceeded to tease their Lord incessantly, although always stopping just before the line that they would step over into disrespect. Such was the case now, despite the fact that the meeting he was sat in really was quite important. Unfortunately, for the chances of Kelso actually paying attention it was nothing that he had not heard before, rather it was the weekly update on the preparations for their assault against Tidespring, although they were moving forwards it was happening slowly and little changed from week-to-week. As a result, as the same ground was covered, and the various attendees of the meeting updated each other and made plans for the next step, Kelso found his attention wandering and as it most often did it settled on June more often than not. It was not quite daydreaming, as he was actively taking in what was being said, but he couldn’t stop himself just drinking her in, not only her obvious beauty but the subtle movements, expressions and even the rise and fall of her chest as she breathed.

“Thank You, Ser George,” Kelso said drawing his attention to him without missing a beat, despite his distraction, as George finished his briefing on the state of affairs in the Holdfast below. “Ser William, how goes our quest for a third Star Destroyer?”

“Slowly, I’m afraid, my Lord,” Ser William replied apologetically. “My father would if he could, but it’s a lot harder to make an entire Star Destroyer disappear than it is a few cruisers.”

Kelso grimaced but nodded his acceptance of the report. In general, the construction of smaller ships was so significant that it was relatively easy to siphon off a handful of ships without anyone noticing, especially if the Warden’s Inspectors were in on the plan as they were for House Windtide. Unfortunately a Star Destroyer, particularly an Imperator-III, was far too large and powerful to be lost in the background, and even the least powerful individual in the Realm could keep a track on new Star Destroyer construction easily enough, and they would be fools to think that Lord Keegan, who was certainly more powerful than they, wouldn’t be watching carefully and would cry foul play. Of course, it was not likely to do much, but Kelso and House Windtide could not run the risk that they alienate potential support as that would be catastrophic for their chances of retaking Tidespring. In most other respects, they were ready to go, but without a third Star Destroyer there was a very real chance of suffering significant losses during the assault, and even damage to one of the Star Destroyers had the potential to wipe out a number of troops if the enemy scored a lucky hit.

It was incredibly frustrating, however Kelso also knew that he couldn’t expect Lord Lambert and Lord Forrester to commit their Star Destroyer to him, as on the chance that House Windtide lost the orbital battle and were forced to withdraw, Lord Keegan’s revenge on the two of them would be swift and significant. He knew that they probably would if he asked them directly, however he didn’t want to put them in that position if he could avoid it.

“Alright, well do your best, Ser William,” Kelso said with a sigh. “Have we heard from Alyssa yet?”

Alyssa Star was a way on a secret visit to High Peak, the seat of House Howard. Given her age it had been decided that it would be a good idea if she met the young boy, Ser Jonathan Howard’s eldest son, who if all went to plan she would be betrothed to upon their return to Tidespring and eventually marry. She had been becoming increasingly nervous about the prospect, especially since the two of them had first started to be able to exchange letters, carried by the same ships that brought the Food Shipments to them, because she was worried that the boy might not like her. Not to mention the fact that, as a growing girl she was beginning to feel self-conscious about her appearance. Kelso had discussed the matter at length with her, June and Hannah, as well as Ser Jonathan himself, and it had been decided that the best thing to do was for them to meet and start developing a friendship before they had to worry overly much about what would come in the future. Ser Jonathan had assured Kelso that his eldest son was a kind soul, and that he would put any fears Allyssa might have to rest; not consciously of course (they were only one-and-ten and two-and-ten), but just meeting would do them both wonders.

As a result Ser Jonathan had dispatched a CR90 Corvette to, operating under his House’s sigil, to safely ferry the young girl to and from Arcadia; after all, no one in their right minds would attack a ship flying under the sigil of the Warden of the Frontier…

Alyssa Star
Corvette Bright Star, The Frontier
14th Day of the Sixth Month, 375 AWU

Alyssa Star was quite pleased. She had been really rather nervous about visiting High Peak in order to meet her future betrothed for the first time, but she was not glad that she had. Edward Howard was the most caring and considerate boy she had ever met (she ignored the fact that he was the only boy her own age that she had met) who had made her feel welcome almost immediately and the pair had spent their entire weekend together and had already formed a fast friendship. If Edward had been upset with the fact that he was being force to marry someone, in a few years, he didn’t show it. Aside from showing her around High Peak, they had spent some time training in the tiltyard, which Alyssa had been thrilled about and had enjoyed herself intensely, and had found herself blushing when Edward had complemented her skills. Given that Edward was going for his examination to become a Squire (which despite his parentage was not a given, even if he would one day be Lord of High Peak) he had almost apologetic when he had brought up the fact that he needed to train, little did he know that Alyssa had absolutely no problem with that, and had been more than happy to help. She had almost not wanted to leave.

In the hours since they had left High Peak she had persuaded herself she could still feel the gentle kiss Edward had pressed to her cheek as he said goodbye.

Despite how much she had enjoyed her time there it would be good to get back to Tide’s Edge, it was a very exciting time after all with the preparations for the Conquest of Tidespring continuing in earnest.

Fortunately, the voyage home promised to not be boring in the slightest, for the fledgling professional interest that Alyssa had, from her time shadowing and learning from Ser Hannah, had been piqued by the ship she was on. Designed by the Corellian Shipbuilding Guild, the massive shipyards that built all the ships for the three Systems of the Core, plus the Capital, and some ships for the other two Systems, the CR90 was a highly popular ship operated by pretty much every House Naval Force in the Realm but also many civilian ventures (the latter tended to have somewhat reduced shielding and less powerful weapons, although this varied on the Lord to whom the civilian in question answered). A highly versatile ship the CR90 was designed to be modular and easily configurable for anything from light escort or troop carrier to cargo transport or even a passenger liner. In the military configuration the Bright Star carried two dual turbolasers and four single turbolasers, giving her respectable firepower against any non-military threat, and her massive number of engines ensued she could outrun anything she couldn’t outfight. The ship possessed a crew of eight officers and thirty eight enlisted crewmen, all of whom had bene more than happy to allow Alyssa to ask as many questions s eh wanted.

The Captain had even agreed to allow her to join him for a duty watch on the bridge, and it was to there that she was heading when all hell broke loose. The ship rumbled and made some disturbing sounds, Alyssa would later learn that it was the ship being ripped from hyperspace, and almost immediately the battle stations alarm sounded. Alyssa frowned but quickened her step in order to get to the bridge sooner. When she arrived she found the front viewport dominated by the distinctive shape of an Interdictor ship; the familiar arrowhead corrupted by four large spheres which she knew to be gravity well generators. The space in front of them with criss-crossed turbolaser fire, from both the enemy Interdictor and from the Bright Star herself as she desperately tried to defend herself against the much larger and more powerful enemy warship. To make matters worse the enemy had launched TIE Defenders of their own which were launching precision strikes as the Bright Star tried to turn and run, however she could not turn her stern entirely to the enemy, as the mass of engines prevented any of the weapons from targeting aft, a well-known flaw in the CR90.

“Can we get a signal out?” The Corvette’s Captain asked urgently.

“Negative Captain, the enemy is jamming all communications channels,” The Communications Lieutenant replied.

“The enemy is targeting our engines and weapons, Captain,” The Tactical Lieutenant added. “Our shields are failing, we’ve got hull breaches on decks five, six and eight.”

The Captain grimaced and turned to Alyssa, and the Force Knight from the Windtide Guard that had been assigned to protect her, with a grim expression.

“My Lady, Ser, I recommend that you try and get out of here via shuttle, we’ll try and give you covering fire,” The Captain said with a heavy sigh. “If you can get a good look at the sigil on that ship please make sure Lord Howard knows who attacked one of his ships.”

“They’ve taken out the power feed to our engines, shields are done,” The Tactical Lieutenant reported. “We’re being boarded!”

The Force Knight nodded and encouraged Alyssa to follow him, drawing his sword and energising the blade as he did so, behind him Alyssa did the same with her smaller sword and gripped it tightly. They made it a few decks down before they encountered the enemy boarders, the Knight stepping forward and deftly blocking the Bowcaster bolts the enemy troops were firing at them as they pushed forwards towards the shuttlebay. For a few moments it looked like they were going to make it, at least until, just before the shuttlebay, they found themselves face to face with a Force Knight bearing the sigil of House Keegan on his surcoat. The Windtide Knight grimaced and stepped forwards, engaging his enemy in single combat as he tried to push him back to allow Alyssa to get to one of the shuttles. Unfortunately the enemy Knight appeared to outclass the Windtide Knight and although Alyssa was able to make it into the shuttlebay her protector was steadily pushed back until, in the blink of an eye, he was too slow on a parry and he fell to the deck minus a head. Alyssa started in shock at her decapitated protector before she threw herself at the enemy Knight.

For her first few strikes the enemy Knight appeared shocked at the young girl’s angry assault, but once he recovered from the surprise he was able to easily overpower and disarm Alyssa. She glared defiantly up at the Force Knight at her held his sword to her throat. For a moment she thought he was going to kill her, but instead he sheathed his sword and reached out with the Force to restrain her, Alyssa tried to struggle against this hold, but he was too strong for her.

“I’d stop struggling if I were you, Bastard,” The Force Knight scowled. “Lord Keegan said he wanted you alive, he didn’t say how many pieces you were to be in.”

Alyssa scowled but stopped her struggling, a few moments later additional enemy troops arrived in the shuttlebay.

“The ship is secured, Ser, the Captain and bridge crew are captured.”

“Good, we’ll take this one back to the Interdictor,” The Force Knight said firmly. “Set the destruction charges, I want no evidence of this ship left once we’re done.”

“And the crew?”

“Kill them all.”

Tide's Edge System
Star Destroyer Ser Alvis Jenson
Lieutenant Commander Tatsua Von June IV

June smiled, she'd noticed the distraction of her partner just as much as his friends and knights had ,and she was just as in on the teasing as any. Maybe she shouldn't have proposed, as it seemed to have distracted him greatly and this meeting was important. Even if he could listen without really paying attention, Kelso should really work on paying his Knights his attention, she was still going to be here after all. She gave Kelso a small smile and a wink before she turned her gaze back to Kelso's people.

They were having trouble getting the support they needed however. It was difficult enough making Imperators disappear, but getting Lord Lambert and Forrester to commit was near impossible. After all if Kelso lost, then Keegan would go after both of them for revenge for 'betraying' him.

On her own side the flacon-ship that had brought the Lord-Admiral here had been named Stalcor, Admiral Moore, Lord Stalcorum, couldn't help it, he had loved his last ship and having it be 'dead' was more then he was willing to accept. So Stalcor lived on in the new ship they'd gained, proudly wearing the swallow hologram. The helmmen had had a feildday learning to pilot the new ship and now not only did the Stalcor look like Kelso's sigil, it flew just like a swallow would.

Then they'd actually manage to find another hobby-falcon cruiser named the Arkell. 'Find' was a loose word as the ship had been found hiding in one of the (still abandoned) mining ventures by Raven, its captain driven to running away after Othan's Leviathan had destroyed a miner that had attempted to flee and surrendered once it realized it couldn't escape. The 'captain', if you call a man that looked to be only 20 and like he should still be in the Academy, had fled with his ship, trying to evade Othan and had gratefully accepted the invitation to come to Tide's Edge. Now they really had a formidable fighting force, and with a ship that can match the speed, maneuverability, and microjump capabilities of the new Stalcor, the two would be deadly against any ship they came across.

She was glad, however, that Kelso had agreed to let Alyssa and Ser Jonathan's son get to know one another. She still didn't like the arranged marriage thing even if Alyssa could say no, she still felt dishonest that she got to marry Kelso out her love and commitment and Alyssa's marriage was still looked to be a consolation prize from Lord Howard. She however didn't raise a fuss over it this time, Alyssa wasn't objecting and the letters she and the boy exchanged seemed to indicate a growing friendship at least.

She'd still made the point very firmly to Kelso that any children she had would not be bargained for. Despite knowing that Kelso would never force any of his children into a marriage, she'd still brought it up. Her children would not be forced to find their partner in other houses or even in the high classes of society in either nation, they could love whoever they wanted and while that might technically put Tidespring at a disadvantage, Kelso's house would still have the strongest ties to Dracoixa and as such any attempt to say Kelso was weak because of such a limitation would be false. She might allow potential partners to her children meet and interact to form relationships on their own, but any attempt to push or manipulate would not end well. It was still a long way off though, but she made sure Kelso knew how strongly she felt about it. He understood of course and she was glad that the discussion had not ended in anger, like the last time it had come up.

"I don't think we have heard anything from Alyssa." June said after a moment, she'd kept just as close tabs on the young girl as anyone would, after all, Alyssa would become her sister-in-law once she married Kelso. "When is she supposed to be back here?"
"And with a flap of his mighty wings, the Dragon left the ground, and spiraled into the night."

Kelso Windtide, Lord of Tidespring
Star Destroyer Ser Alvis Jenson, Tide’s Edge Star System
14th Day of the Sixth Month, 375 AWU

“Assuming they left this morning as they were supposed to, either this evening or tomorrow morning,” Ser Hannah spoke up promptly at the question. “For all its sublight speed, the CR90 has a lesser hyperdrive, so it’ll take them longer to get here.”

Kelso nodded his agreement with what Hannah had said, that was certainly in line with what he and Ser Jonathan had agreed prior to arranging the visit, short enough to not put too much pressure on either of them, but long enough for them to properly get to know each other more than their exchanged letters would allow. Even if they were late it probably was not too much of a problem, it was possible that Alyssa had requested to be able to stay a little longer, which could only be a good thing. As much as the match was a political one of advantage, he hoped that she would be able to enjoy the same happiness that he had. In his experience in many an arranged marriage love, or at least affection, was a thing that grew steadily as they got to know each other; those who fell in love outside of such marriages, at first sight or however you wanted to define it, were the lucky few, or not so much if, for various reasons, such lovers could not marry each other. Indeed Hannah herself was a good example of that, her love for the armourer, Jason, was obvious, however a marriage would be difficult given the vast different in their social standing, even if he warmed her bed every night.

Kelso and June had discussed the matter at length when the decision had been made to send Alyssa to High Peak to meet Edward Howard, and had had a long discussion about the future, and their potential children. June had made it entirely clear that she would not allow her children to be used as political tools, as was all too common in the Kingdom. Kelso had accepted her position; after all he had sworn that no son or daughter of House Windtide would be forced to marry anyone they didn’t want to. If they fell in love with someone who would bring an advantage to the House, or were willing to enter into an arranged marriage, so much the better, but theirs would be the ultimate opinion that mattered.

“If we’ve not heard anything by tomorrow evening we’ll send a messenger to High Peak to see what the situation is,” Kelso said after a few moments thought. “I doubt we need to worry, she’s under the protection of the Warden of the Frontier, she’s in good hands.”

“Agreed, my Lord,” Lord Hammond nodded. “She’s probably just enjoying herself, High Peak is a beautiful place.”

“Indeed it is, I can only remember a little of it from when I was a child,” Kelso agreed with a slight smile. “And it’ll be the first chance she’s had to get planetside somewhere without having to fight a battle, she’s earned the time.”

Kelso glanced around at the nodding faces.

“Anything further?”

Tide's Edge System
Star Destroyer Ser Alvis Jenson
Lieutenant Commander Tatsua Von June IV

"I don't think so, " June answered, "I'll be sending Raven off again for scouting soon, hell, maybe Captain Darli will find an extra Imperator laying around somewhere." She said with a small grin, the captain of the stealth ship was infamous for her ability to find and deliver stuff to Tide's Edge, from yet another ship with fabric materials in it to extra parts for pretty much every Dracoixan ship in Tide's Edge, not to mention she'd managed to retrieve a lot stuff from the crashsites of the old Stalcor and Hobby and secure both wrecks to make sure they would not explode and ruin Gaia's atmosphere. June reached up to rub the head of the dragon necklace she'd left behind and Darli had delivered to her, she'd also managed to get Alyssa's present back.

The present hadn't been that big, but had taken weeks to make and properly program. One of the engineers aboard Hawk had a skill for making old-fashioned watches, with the perfectly balanced gears and such. And she'd employed his help in the project for the gift to Alyssa. It wasn't useful in any way except that it was cute, but between the engineer's steady hands and everyone else who'd chipped in, they'd made a small mechanical swallow that acted and could even fly for short periods of time. It had been plated with precious metals on the outside to make to look like a barn swallow, a dark gold in place of dark blue and white and silver for its chest and underside. The AI in it made it act like a friendly little bird and would of cost a pretty penny back home, as mechanical animals that small were rare and hard to make. The little mechanical pet was more a decoration them anything, but Alyssa had loved it, it was literally a pet she didn't have to clean up after and the little warbles of the bird could often be heard wherever she was. Charging it was no big deal, it only needed to sit on special device every night and was good as new in the morning. She'd left the little bird behind, as her visit was secret it wouldn't do anyone any good to see the little mechanical thing flying around and wonder what it was.

"Wouldn't that be a trip, the woman's managed to scrap up so much stuff I'm starting to think she's a witch." Admiral More said from his seat beside June. The man looked much better now and he was still getting use to the prosthetic leg he'd gained but he was walking around fine on his own now. "But other then that, June's right, everything good on our ships. We're ready for anything."

“All things considered, I think that finding an entire Star Destroyer is beyond the capabilities of even the illustrious Captain Darli,” Kelso commented with a slight smile. “Not that I would complain if she pulled it off, although I’m not sure I’d want to know where she got it!”

Kelso leant back in his chair with a smile.

“Very well then, everyone, I’ll let you all get back to your duties, unless something else happens I’ll see you next week, unless we see each other at dinner one night,” Kelso added, it was his custom to invite his Knights, Lords and friends to dine with him on a rotating basis, although obviously there were more of them than in a single week, and of course June was present more often than not. “Make sure we keep everyone on their toes, just because we’re plotting our assault doesn’t mean that House Keegan won’t launch their own pre-emptive strike, and whilst we can find off pretty much anything he could throw at us, I don’t want us getting sloppy.”

The gathered group nodded their agreement and began to make their way out. Conversations breaking out between them as they did so, doubtless there would be further planning and discussions on how best to get what they had agreed on sorted over the coming week, as they were all working very closely together to get everything ready. Kelso pinched the bridge of his nose as he leant back in the chair, he had felt a Disturbance in the Force during the meeting, although he couldn’t pinpoint the cause, and was more than a little surprised that no one else had picked up on it. It was possible that it was so faint that only one of his strength in the Force would be able to feel it, although that was unusual, and in that case it was still highly surprising that Lord Hammond at least hadn’t felt anything, and he would have said something if he had. Kelso shook his head as he made to stand-up, doubtless it was nothing, likely something far away and in no way related to any of them. It would not be the first time that Disturbances in the Force had been felt and there had been panic until they realised it was nothing to do with the Kingdom; in a Galaxy as violent and dangerous as the one they found themselves in, tragedy and rips in the Force were not only inevitable, but all too frequent.

June watched Kelso as he sat back in his chair and she frowned. Moore looked at her and instead of waiting for he he exited the room with everyone else.

"Kelso, is something wrong?" She asked as he stood. She saw that look on his face before, and it usually meant something was wrong. If something was wrong she hoped it could be easily fixed. She'd asked about Disturbances in the Force and of course sometimes it wasn't related to them. But maybe it was. You never could really know.

“A Disturbance in the Force,” Kelso explained as he leant against the table. “I must have been too faint for the rest to feel, although it didn’t feel all that faint.”

Kelso didn’t know what to make of it. The Force was a difficult thing to quantify and in many case it was vague and subject to interpretation; aside from the urgent warnings and subconscious guidance it provided in times of danger, and visions were particularly unreliable. A Disturbance in the Force could only be caused by an actual event, but there was rarely anything in the fluctuation that gave an indication of what had caused it. The loss of life caused the greatest ripples in the Force; however, any number of developments could cause a disturbance, as could any unnatural events or usages of the Force. There was simply too many possible explanations out there to allow Kelso to get a firm indication or precisely what had happened. He could meditate on the matter, however the disturbance had likely passed, even worse the fact that it had only been Kelso meant that it would likely be even harder for him to find out what it was, if nothing else because he couldn’t ask any of them for their assistant.

“I’ll be alright,” Kelso said after a few moments. “It was likely just something far beyond the Realm.”

She accepted the explanation with a small nod. It was probably nothing. That didn't mean she wasn't still a little worried it might be something related to them.

"Well i hope Alyssa enjoyed her trip. She deserved a bit of relaxation on a real planet. What's the boy's name again? Despite Alyssa talking to and worrying over his reaction to her, I can't remember his name?"

“Edward Howard, two and ten, a kind boy with good skills with a blade, a head for study and a gentle heart,” Kelso replied with a slight smile. “He’s due to become a Squire soon, there was some talk of having him Squire to me once we retake Tidespring.”

That particular idea had actually been suggested by Ser Jonathan, and if it happened would be a significant honour for Kelso given that young Edward was not only from a great house but would one day be Lord of Arcadia. It also had the added bonus of allowing Edward and Alyssa to spend a lot of time together, increasing their chances of forming a closer bond and decreasing any chances of any other romantic entanglements that would impact their arrangement, or cause heartbreak. If they retook Tidespring in time, which they should if the Force be good, then it was every likely to happen and for all of their’s sake Kelso hoped that it did, he had no doubt that the boy would be a good addition to Tidespring, but also that hopefully he would be able to make Alyssa happy, either now or in their married lives together down the line.

Kelso shook his head in an effort to clear his mind as they made their way to the door.

“Got any plans for today?” He asked.

"Plans..." June rubbed her chin in thought "Not that I'm aware of. I did want to go check on my gift to Alyssa just to make sure its holding up fine. She might not understand when it needs some fixing up. last thing I want it to do is 'drop dead' on her," She said as they exited the room.

"Other then that I'm free, Moore probably wants me back on his ship because you know... I'm not just a Lieutenant anymore I'm a Lieutenant Commander with all the privileges and duties the rank now entails," She paused. "But I'm also a princess and well I can make my own schedule. Have anything exciting planned for me?"

“Yeah, it’s probably a good idea to go and check up on it, like you say it wouldn’t be good if it fell apart, especially given that she loves it so much,” Kelso replied with a slight smile. “And very true, I realised that very quickly after I got my military forces that because I’m Lord I can set my own duties… also have I said congratulations about your promotion yet today?”

Kelso smirked and glanced over at her. Even though the Kingdom did not have anywhere near as many military officer ranks as Dracoixa did, indeed in the Kingdom’s system the rank of Lieutenant could mean someone with the role and responsibility of anywhere from a Dracoixan Lieutenant straight up to a full Commander, regardless he was still very proud of her for her achievements, particularly so quickly (even if she was a Princess),

“Now that you mention it I actually do, indeed I’ve got a present for you,” Kelso smiled. “Although we’ll have to go down to the planet below.”

"Oh boy a present, now you have my interest, and it isn't even my birthday." June said, wondering what could be groundside for her. Well she'd find out. "But first, lets go pick up the mechanical swallow and bring it with us so we can make sure everything is alright with the little thing."

With James and Kelso's Windtide guard behind them they made their way through the ship to where Alyssa was staying. June felt a little bad 'breaking in' into the room but she entered and found it quickly before exiting the room. The thing was big enough to fill June's palm and right now it seemed to be sleeping, eyes closed, not moving. its gold and silver color shiny in the light.

"Wake up." June said softly and the mechanical bird opened it eyes, tilting its head at her before it stood on tiny legs to perch on her hand. Amazing that they had been able to make this at all with what limited resources they had. The little bird stayed put as June moved her hand around to study the swallow. Nothing appeared to be wrong with the and she reached up to gently stroke the head of the bird. It chirped at her and climbed up her arm to her shoulder, making small noises as it sat on her shoulder. "Seems to be working fine, now whats this present of which you speak?"

“Wait and see,” Kelso replied with a smile.

Once they had finished checking up on the mechanical bird they stepped back out into the corridor and Kelso offered her his arm and their way down to the expansive flight deck of the Ser Alvis Jenson where the modified Lambda-Class shuttle that Kelso used was waiting for them. They settled into the comfortable seat that had replaced the rows of utilitarian seats of the non-modified designs for the short flight down to the planet. As always TIE Interceptors formed up on their wings to escort them down; no one really though there was any real threat here for them, however the memory of the infiltrators cast a long shadow and equally no one wanted to take any chances with the life of their Lord, or indeed the Princess he was betrothed to. It didn’t take them long at all before they experiencing the slight turbulence of re-entry, followed by the somewhat erratic course at the pilots avoided the worse of the smoke and steam put up by the highly volatile planet below, not to mention the occasional geyser of lava or volcanic rock thrown out by any one of the volcanoes that peppered the planet.

Soon enough the shuttle came in for a smooth and safe landing on one of the shuttle pads inside the Holdfast walls and after the pilot had completed the safety checks they descended the aft ramp. As always there was a small honour guard waiting for them, and the two Guardsmen that had followed Kelso and June from the ship, as well as James, settled into step behind them. Kelso led the way through the Holdfast until they reached their destination in the industrial and fabrication area. They stepped into Jason’s Armoury and no doubt by this point June would be getting an idea of what the present was going to be, any doubt would be removed in short order as Jason led them to one of the stands.

The present was a full suit of powered armour for June, as well built and ornate as well, and almost as capable. Jason had, using scans provided by Kelso and the medical bay, been able to design armour that would fit her perfectly, and would be able to enhance her capabilities. Within the Kingdom only a Force Knight or Force Lord could use full power armour, because only those that were Force Sensitive could survive the augmentation process they under went in order to be able to use power armour without breaking their bones or similar. The medical records had indicated that the genetic modifications that June had would allow her to make use of powered armour without her injuring herself, and Jason had designed the armour with those limitations in mind. It had taken Jason and his Apprentices some time, but they had managed to get it done. Now June would be able to ride her courser in armour as much as Kelso could ride Dark Wind. He had remembered that she had, jokingly, said that she wanted a set, and Kelso being Kelso had decided that he would take her up on that and had proceeded to do so.

“What do you think?”

Tide's Edge System
Tide's Edge
Lieutenant Commander Tatsua Von June IV

June put the little back on its stand, and it fell back asleep, to await its owners return.

June had still been wondering exactly what her present could be on the way down and started their way through the holdfast. It wasn't her birthday nor was today any important day. But soon enough it was clear they were making their way to Jason's armory. She began to get a tad bit excited, and finally once they got there and on one of the stands was a suit of powered armor just for her. Her mention of wanting a suit of armor like Kelso had been only half-joking, but that didn't make the surprise of getting it now any less awesome.

She threw her arms about Kelso and gave him a tight hug. "Thank you Kelso!" She said before stepping over to it to study in, still smiling. "It looks amazing! Hey James, I could totally lead an assault on a planet with this on!"

"Oh joy...." James said sourly under her breath, only loud enough for Kelso to really hear, probably not on purpose. "I'd prefer you not to be leading assaults and staying aboard ship where its nice and safe." He said.

"You're just jealous you can't have such an awesome suit of armor like I have." She said with a grin as she turning to Jason, "it really does look amazing Jason. I knew bringing you back was a good idea."
"And with a flap of his mighty wings, the Dragon left the ground, and spiraled into the night."

Kelso Windtide, Lord of Tidespring
Tide's Edge Holdfast, Tide’s Edge Star System
14th Day of the Sixth Month, 375 AWU

Kelso laughed as she embraced him, thrilled that he liked his gift before she stepped back to study it more. His eyes sparkled with amusement as she went on about how she could assault an entire planet wearing one of those, and despite James’ disapproval that was at least partially the point. It was entirely likely that at some point, whether at the Battle for Tidespring or when retaking her homeworld, that she would be called upon to enter into combat and Kelso wanted her to have every advantage possible. Sure her own armour, or even the unpowered armour worn by Knights in the Kingdom would have given her some protection (as this armour was worn as standard, even in combat, when a Knight was not fighting whilst mounted, but the powered armour would allow her to ride her courser into battle, if she so choose. Unlike James who would doubtless protest until he turned blue in the face, Kelso had no intention of stopping June from doing so, even if he would worry about her safety incessantly, but if he was going to let her do that then he had to make sure she was adequately protected for the task.

“You are welcome, my lady,” Jason replied with a broad smile.

“Yes because of your it was your idea to bring him back with us from the Capital,” Kelso commented with a wry smile as he glanced between his beloved and his armourer. “However she does have a point, we’ve worked you hard over the last months.”

Kelso stepped closer as June returned to fawning over her new armour.

“And I wanted to thank you personally, such as I can, for all that you are doing for Hannah, she is one of my oldest friends and I can’t thank you enough,” Kelso said softly to the lowborn armourer, whose expression broke a smile with obvious affection for the subject of their conversation. “This time last year it looked like she was on the brink, now she is happier than I’ve ever seen her, so thank you, you will always have a place in my household.”

“Thank You, my Lord,” Jason replied with a nod. “And you are more than welcome.”

Kelso smiled and after shaking his hand firmly stepped back to watch June continue to admire her new armour.

June continued to admire her new armor for a minute, studying all the little details. It really was amazing that this man could make something like this. The power armor of Dracoixan marines was made by machine in some factory somewhere. but this was made by an actual person.

Now she'd be able to go into the fight, beforehand, without armor, she was stuck abaord ship, now she with this, she could go down to the surface of a planet and fight alongside Kelso. Both to retake Tidespring and her own planet. She could just imagine the look on Othan's face when he discovered that she was going to suited up in armor and would not be easy to kill. She savored the thought for a moment before she turned back to Kelso. "Can I try it on? Its not going to do me any good if I don't know how to use it or wear it."
"And with a flap of his mighty wings, the Dragon left the ground, and spiraled into the night."

“Of course,” Kelso nodded as Jason took the armour down ready for her to don. “You’ll need to put on this body suit first.”

Once June returned clad in the black body suit that went under the armour Kelso and Jason helped her put the armour on, which was not a tremendously easy task (one of many reasons why a Force Knight had a Squire) but one that they were able to complete. The armour was made out of the same lightsaber resistant material that non-powered armour was, but as it was powered it was somewhat thicker thus providing additional protection. As with all of the Kingdom’s armour, weapons and equipment it was in the style of a full suit of plate armour, not unlike what Kelso had worn for the Tourney, but with the obvious changes needed to make a powered version viable. Once she was ready Kelso handed her back her sword, which slotted into place as easily on battle armour as it did otherwise. They guided her over to an open area away from anything else.

“Take it slow, the suit alone is capable of far more dramatic feats than your body can support, so you’ll need to learn how to safely use it to increase your capability, otherwise you’re liable to rip your arm off,” Jason advised with a slight smile. “Start just making your movements normally, once you can do that without hurting yourself you can start using the suit’s power to enhance yourself.”

Kelso nodded his agreement.

“Once you’ve had enough practice you can do anything you would unarmoured in battle armour, and can control it just as finely; a touch can be as soft in armour as not,” He added. “The onboard situation should stop you from hurting yourself seriously, but you’ll still get strains and other minor injuries if you’re not careful.

Tide's Edge System
Tide's Edge Holdfast
Lieutenant Commander Tatsua Von June IV

June had to admit if felt strange having the power armor on. She listened to Jason's warnings and gave a mental nod, it was just like Dracoixan armor in that you could easily hurt yourself as do amazing things in it, and getting use to having that amount of power to control would be interesting to say the least. She remembered putting on unpowered armor during training back on Dracoixa, but the power armor had always been reserved for the marines. Just standing and moving in it now seemed like a challenge and she wondered how many Marine trainees get hurt each year trying to do stuff they shouldn't in power armor.

She walked around a bit in her armor, raising her arms and studying the armor, obviously being careful as she tried it. It felt strange to wear, like she could take on a tank yet rip her own arm off in the process. She'd have to practice with this as much as possible to get use to using it, after all the Battle of Tidespring wasn't that far off (technically speaking, it would probably be here before she knew it) and she would retake Kelso's home at his side. (no matter what James might want.)

"It does feel different." June said after a moment. "I'm going to need to practice wearing this."
"And with a flap of his mighty wings, the Dragon left the ground, and spiraled into the night."

Kelso Windtide, Lord of Tidespring
Tide's Edge Holdfast, Tide’s Edge Star System
14th Day of the Sixth Month, 375 AWU

Kelso watched June with a slight smile, amused yet glad she was taking it slow. The trick was to learn how to use just enough of her own body’s strength, speed and endurance to get the suit to do the rest, rather than trying to meet what the suit was capable of. It would take her a lot of practice, but he was confident that she would pick it up, and whilst it would take some to properly learn the nuances, it would be fairly easy for her to get the hang of on a basic level.

“Yes you are,” Kelso agreed. “Whilst you’re getting used to it, you’ll want to wear it whilst doing everyday routine, like if you go for an exercise run, go in the armour, things like that.”

Kelso smiled slightly.

“Once you’ve got the hang of it the entire thing will become second nature and you won’t even have to think about it, you’ll not really notice the difference, aside from being stronger, faster and having more stamina,” Kelso added. “In any event the main point of it is to keep you safe and it’ll do that, they can take direct bowcaster shots, which is no mean feat, and are resistant, although not invulnerable, to lightswords.”

Alyssa Star
Tidespring, Tide, Arcadia Star System
14th Day of the Sixth Month, 375 AWU

Alyssa chocked back her sobs, determined to come across as strong to her captors, as the hood over her head was ripped off and she found herself in entirely new surroundings; dungeons somewhere given the darkness only relieved by the torches and other lights held by the small group of men that stood in the door to her cell. She didn’t like the way they were looking at her. She knew what had happened to Ser Hannah and she suddenly felt a stab of fear that the same would happen to her. In the hours that had passed since her capture it had all not really seemed real as she was dragged, hooded and bound, through the corridors of various ships, shuttles and at last through the halls of whatever stronghold she was not held up in. She had not really had the time to think or truly consider her predicament; her tears brought on by generic fear and worry, but now she had a very specific fear and it chilled her heart like an icicle as she realised she was totally at the mercy of these men, and that was not a very pleasant thought; Alyssa might be young but she knew the terrible truth of what men could be capable of.

“She’s a bit young, don’t you think,” One of the men commented, looking uncertain.

“She’s old enough,” Another, obviously the ring-leader replied. “And just think how tight her virgin cunt will be.”

“Even so…”

“Why do you care anyway, she’s a fucking Windtide! Or rather not she’s a bastard Windtide which manages to be worse!” The Ringleader scowled. “If you’re so concerned about hurting the whore, you go first.”

The reluctant man continued to look reluctant but after some encouragement he stepped forwards and undid the restraints on her legs, to allow him access, which proved to be his final mistake. With a burst of energy brought upon by adrenaline and, for the first time in her life, the Force, Alyssa lashed out with her newly freed legs and gripped on either side of his head with her feet and without any further hesitation she twisted violently, cleanly breaking his neck.. That he had been reluctant had not slowed her, he had been prepared to do it and in any event he was a threat to her. The other men looked on in shock, not believing what they had seen but these were lowborn Men-At-Arms who had badly underestimated the young Forceling. Before they could really react Alyssa was across short distance and lashed out with another kick and in a flurry of action as she let her body flow with the Force she fought with all her might and maybe thirty seconds later she was crouched in a ready stance the bodies of the four men crumpled around her.

Panting heavily she raised up thanks to the Force, both for guiding her actions but also for Ser Hannah Forrester. After her return from captivity Hannah had insisted on teaching Alyssa advanced unarmed combat skills so that she had some recourse to defend herself in situations like this. Alyssa had taken to it, as she had all her other physical training, like a fish to water and right now she was grateful for it, saving her maidenhead, her dignity and her self-respect. Considering what to do next she knew she had to try and escape and set off into the darkness, leaving the torches behind in an effort to remain unseen.

Unfortunately she didn’t get all that far. She sensed danger and shuddered to a halt as in front of her three lightswords burst into light as three Force Knights, one the one who had captured her, blocked her path. Alyssa scowled a she saw them; five lowborn idiots who weren’t expecting it was one thing; this was entirely another, she could not fight her way past them. Into the pool of light stepped a fourth figure, given his appearance and his clothing and armour there was only one person that this could be; Lord Keegan himself.

“And just where do you think you’re going, Bastard?” Lord Keegan asked dryly as he stepped forwards, his hand resting on the hilt of his own sword. “Take her back to her cell, get rid of the idiots she dispatched and post a new guard… female this time.”

“As you command, my Lord” The Force Knight replied.

“I don’t want any more trouble from you, Bastard, you’re bait for your brother but I can fake the proof easily enough,” Lord Keegan said warningly, and Alyssa felt a stab of regret that she was being used against Kelso. “Soon enough he’ll be joining you in the cells, if I don’t kill him on the field of battle myself; think on that Bastard.”

June nodded. She'd have to get in some good practice with it, not yo mention she'd want to practice a bit with her sword while in armor. Maybe not against anyone but still wouldn't hurt her. She began to walk a bit more normally in her armor and smiled.

"A very nice present. Maybe I should joke about stuff I want more often, like how I want to marry you," she paused, now grinning, "oh wait, thats already going to happen."

Force Knight-in-Training Amar Othan

Amar Othan kept his expression carefully neutral as he lowered his training sword, breathing hard from his practice with one of Keegan's knights. He hadn't realized what he was getting into when King Othan had volunteered him to be trained.

Well he knew now and the more he trained the more confident he felt he could actually fight someone if confronted. As he listened to the knight tell him what he'd done wrong, there was a time when his anger would of surged and he would of probably tried to kill the man. Anger was a great way to use the Dark side of the Force, but ever since he'd started learning from Keegan's people, he had become neutral.

And the longer he stayed neutral the less sure Amar had become about certain things.

He mentally sighed, making sure to keep such thoughts and emotions away from where anyone could feel them. He was conflicted and he knew it.

Not that he was going to admit it to anyone.

Kelso Windtide, Lord of Tidespring
Tide’s Edge Holdfast, Tide’s Edge Star System
14th Day of the Sixth Month, 375 AWU

“You should know by now that I have a habit of turning things sent in jest into reality, particularly if they have the added benefit of being a good idea, which this one most definitely is, besides it was hardly a trouble” Kelso replied with a slight smile as they walked, for the first time in the history of ever June matched him in height. “There’s no point in teaching you how to swing a sword, if an opponent can just cut straight through you with only a glancing blow, with armour you’re well protected against anything but a direct thrust or an almighty swing.”

As they made their way through the Holdfast it was perhaps unsurprising, all things considered, that June was getting a few interested and confused looks from the various Windtide and Hammond Men-At-Arms they passed on their way back to the shuttle; after all they may have seen Dracoixans in powered armour before, but they hadn’t seen them in a Knight’s battle armour, nor had they seen the Princess in said battle armour, so it was as unusual as it was confusing to see. Kelso couldn’t help but smile, it made sense, after all the aesthetic designs were so vastly different that it was obvious that she wasn’t just wearing some Dracoixan version, even with their penchant for holographic illusions such as the Swallow hologram that the new Stalcor sported. There were no hostile nor discourteous looks, just curiosity and surprise.

“In any case, you’ll have plenty of time to get used to it,” Kelso commented. “We’re not going to be going after Tidespring for at least a few more months.”

"Yeah I'm glad I got it now. I really was hoping to have a more active role in helping you." June explained as they walked. "I shouldn't really be risking myself like that but Wind and Tide are as much mine as they are yours. I think you've taught me well with the sword."

She paused, amused at the looks she was getting .

"Now I'm not going get too cocky with my new armor. After all I want to live to see my wedding and such. But I do enjoy being the same height as you."

“It’ll be good knowing that you’re as well protected as I am in the midst of a battle, it’ll make me feel a lot better, as as much as I’ll be doing everything I can to keep you safe, my mind will be able to focus on the battle without being totally distracted by your safety, my love,” Kelso replied with a slight smile, then glanced at her in his eyeline. “Well, don’t get used to it, remember that most of the time when you’re in armour I am going to be as well, and the rest of the time I’m going to be taller anyway… not that is a problem, you’re always cute but you’re particularly cute from above.”

Kelso smirked and stepped away slightly in the event of her lashing out at his comments.

“If you’re going to start fighting in armour like that you’re going to need a squire,” Kelso added.

June just shrugged. "oh well, if I have to put up with you being taller then me while in your armor, I can make due, especially since you look so handsome in it. Anyways..." she paused dramatically, "Its kind of strange to be eye level with a person you've looked up to the whole time you've known them, so I won't cry too many tears when I return to regular June.

She paused, listening and considering his next statement, a squire huh? She frowned. "well.... hm, now I'm not opposed to it but where am I going to find a squire? Not to mention the small fact that I am a Lieutenant Commander in the Dracoixan Navy and Princess to become Queen. We don't do squires in my nation. Can't I just leave my armor down in marine country and they'll help me into the armor there?"

“I have grown a great deal of respect for your Marines over the past couple of years, however they lack the knowledge to know how to properly and safely put you into that armour, much less get you out again,” Kelso replied. “Moreover, they certainly lack the expertise to make repairs should it be damaged, or to conduct routine maintainance, the principals in your armour might be the same, but enough differences exist cause problems.”

Kelso paused.

“As for where to find you a Squire, I’m sure that any number of the young lads or lasses in my forces here would be honoured to serve as your Squire, you might want to speak to Lord Howard, his daughter is of the right age,” Kelso added. “I do recommend you get one, both for the reasons I’ve already said, but Squires are just as, if not more, important in the field.”
