Non-violent-Steven Choi, former CEO of Wilson Mining, was caught embezzeling from investors and the Board. His haul is estimated (in 1990 venetoes) at 3.021 billion! He went to prison on March 13 1990, where he still sits.

Toragu Hayashitsutomugu and Tomoki Ashitahajimeki, two of our Consuls who served in the 147th Triumvirate, some 50 years ago. They were part of the same marriage triad, incredibly popular politically, and unknown to most people at the time, had underworld criminal connections. They were involved in a complicated vote-buying and bribery scheme that had been going on for several years when they were members of the Grand Assembly, using each other as "cover" to conceal their corrupt activities. When the third member of the Tirumvirate, Michipa Tsunetoshipa, stumbled upon evidence of their misdeeds, the resulting scandal nearly brought down the Republic.

The pair were impeached, tried and convicted, spending over 30 years in prison afterward. A Constitutional amendment was also passed forbidding married Jankenjin to serve as Consuls within the same Triumvirate.

Jankenjin historians have noted that beyond the political scandal, one of the real tragedies to come of it was Toragu and Tomoki's paajin partner, Yukipa Naotakapa. She was a famous and well-loved philanthropist and social worker. Even though her partners apparently kept her in the dark about their criminal activities, her reputation was nonetheless ruined.
