What do people in your nation wear?

Postby Yulis » Mon May 02, 2016 12:07 am

What do your nation’s people wear? I’ve incorporated a small questionnaire, because people seem to like questionnaires.
Code: Select all
Do your nation’s people wear clothes?
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent?
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it?
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex?
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable):
Are there any particular items specific to your nation?
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)?
Do school students wear uniforms?

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Yes, Yulisians commonly wear clothes.
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? Public nudity is allowed in Yulis just about everywhere. It is not necessarily accepted everywhere. For example, showing up to a desk job in the nude is not acceptable, but going for a walk in the park is probably fine.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? Yulis does not have a particular “national dress”, but there are some items peculiar to Yulis, the combination of which could be considered a national dress.
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? Clothing is fairly gender differentiated, although there is a lot more mixing between genders. For example, skirts are commonly worn by men.
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable): Typically they dress like westerners, albeit with clothing that is Yulisian in design.
And example of a female outfit (this one is specifically one I designed for a high school student’s dress code) is as follows: All clothing is described in greater detail here
A camisa (a loose fitting short sleeved shirt), knee-length skirt (like any western skirt) or cilindre large (a type of skirt made by wrapping a long length of fabric around the waist and fastening it with a belt), and black boots worn with knee-high, dark coloured socks. An optional jacket (similar to a sweatshirt or something like that) for winter.
An example of an analogous male outfit:
A short-sleeved shirt (probably a buttoned shirt), knee-length shorts or a cilindre large, and black boots worn with knee-high, dark coloured socks. An optional jacket (similar to a sweatshirt or something like that) for winter.
Are there any particular items specific to your nation? Detailed here are a bunch of items.
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? No
Do school students wear uniforms? Most high schools have either a dress code or a uniform, primary schools tend either to have loose dress codes or no restrictions at all.

I also thought I'd compile a list of nations based on how restrictive their laws are about clothing (someone else has done something similar so I'll try not to intrude on that). So here is an optional second survey on clothing. Alternatively, you could skip the first questionnaire if you wish (since it is longer).

Code: Select all
Is public nudity legal everywhere?
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts?
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)?
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public?
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)?
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions?
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)?
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed?

Is public nudity legal everywhere? Technically yes, but it is frowned upon in formal contexts.
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? N/A
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? There aren’t any explicit laws, but the force of custom allows nude people a decent amount of freedom.
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public? There are some by-laws requiring people to show up to court in decent dress and that sort of thing (this is more to prevent people showing up in scruffy clothes smelling like they haven’t heard of showering than to prevent nudity - although some by-laws do cover it).
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)? Not particularly extensive.
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? High schools mostly have dress codes and uniforms, while primary schools do not.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? Not at all.
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? The government does own some clothing manufacturers, but it does not explicitly control the designs they output.

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Not fully.
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? Nudity is heavily encouraged, but not quite the law.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? Nudity.
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? Men typically do not wear as many accessories as women, opting just for ties and maybe loose jackets.
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable): They wear clothing accessories like scarves, gloves, hats, shoes, jewelry, unobstructive lingerie, and socks.
Are there any particular items specific to your nation? Not particularly.
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? No.
Do school students wear uniforms? Students will wear ties with their school's colors and emblem/crest on it, as well as uniform socks and shoes.

Is public nudity legal everywhere? Yes, it is legal everywhere.
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? Some private establishments are given the right to restrict it for various reasons, like a certain terminal at the airport that serves international flights from non-nude countries, or clinics that are not fully nude to help travelers and others adjust to the environment.
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? Yes, and it works in reverse too for clothed people.
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public? No, people may wear what they want, but the rest is up to social normals and fitting in.
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)? Not applicable.
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? The same uniforms as above. They must be nude except for the issued ties, shoes, and socks. Women may wear stockings, color depends on the school.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? Not at all.
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? Not at all. Remarkably, fashion is a thriving industry in Netoraria from the need to be innovative around wearing clothes that are completely useless at hiding a person's private parts.

Good morning,
Here are my replies:

Do your nation’s people wear clothes?
    Yes.
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent?
Yes, to the extend of social norms and indecent behaviour.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it?
There are actually two, the Geansai and the Eadach Obaire, most people wear either of the two in their daily lifes (it's simply practical).
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex?
    There are major gender differences.
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable):
Are there any particular items specific to your nation?
The Geansai consists partially of fur.
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)?
    No.
Do school students wear uniforms?
Depends on the school, some have, some have not.

Is public nudity legal everywhere?
Public Nudity is forbidded (by social norms) in temples and schools.
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts?
Temples and schools - do I need to say more?
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)?
No, there are only those protecting clothed citizens.
As for the stated example, if a cart driver does not want to transport a person, he does not want to. Simple as that and working in general.
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public?
    No.
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)?
    Not Applicable.
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions?
    It's pretty balanced.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)?
Only for state service, namely in the military.
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed?
    No.

Questions?
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

Do your nation’s people wear clothes?
On the whole, yes.

Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent?
Public nudity is legal, and while most people prefer to cover up, since Keshokif is fairly cool, towards the West of the country, nudity becomes much more common publicly.

Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it?
Yes.
Male:
Long traditional jackets called Xxesipu, usually single-breasted, with a belt around the outside. Long trousers and boots with significant heel. Hats usually are made of felt or wool, and are fairly tall. Usually, someone will wear the traditional seal of the state, county or town where they grew up or live currently on their right breast-pocket, which differs from the flag and coat of arms of the same county, though ofttimes, they will just wear generic traditional seals. The colour of the Xxesipu ranges greatly, with brown, red, blue and black being the most popular.
Female:
While some females wear the Xxesipu combo, which stems from a tradition of female warriors in ancient Erre society, though female traditional dress as an individual concept does also exist. Largely, female dresses are long and flowing, usually made of silk, but sometimes made of wool. They usually contain a sash, with the traditional seal of the state, county or town where they grew up or live currently either tied to the sash or as a patch sewn onto the sash.

Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex?
Males and females tend to wear very similar clothing in day-to-day dress. However, for formal occasions, a divide tends to emerge, with traditional or contemporary-formal clothing more commonplace.

What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable):
While some rural folk wear the traditional dress commonly, Keshokif's clothing style is fairly contemporary-western, with tee shirts and jeans being the most common, and some forms of jackets being worn over the top.
There is a recent trend among youths to wear a Xxesipu over contemporary clothing, such as tee shirts and jeans. This has created the style known as "Fussixona", or "Fusion".

Are there any particular items specific to your nation?
The Xxesipu and fur hats are fairly unique to Keshokif, as well as the custom of wearing traditional crests.

Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)?
No.

Do school students wear uniforms?
Only primary school students.

Is public nudity legal everywhere?
Yes, though it is most accepted culturally in 'nudist areas', such as nude beaches and nudist colonies.

If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens?
Not specifically to protect nudists, but there are laws protecting other 'minorities', which nudism falls into.

Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public?
No.

Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions?
Primary schools have uniforms, while secondary schools don't.

Does the government restrict people’s appearance?
No.

Does the government control the supply of clothing?
There are government-run clothing shops for homeless or impoverished people, which do include Xxesipu-rental. However, for average citizens, there is no overt government control over clothing supply. However, some people do get their clothes from the government-run shops, because they are cheaper, sometimes even being free, and most proceeds go towards the Department of Equality's Poverty and Development committee.

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Yes
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? As long as you cover genitalia appropriately (i.e. Bikinis are OK at the beach but frowned upon in the city), and women cover their breasts, yes it is allowed, but generally frowned upon unless you're at some beachside resort on a summer day.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? No
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? There are fairly decent differences.
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable):
Common men's winter outfit (Car coats are also very common)
Common men's summer Guys will generally wear Wayfarer style sunglasses too.
Probably what women would wear in summer, not too sure
Probably what women would wear in winter, particularly if it gets cold.
Are there any particular items specific to your nation? No, however both sexes love to wear Swiss level watches (which we happen to be known for making, just not under the Swiss title)
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? No dress codes or anything like that.
Do school students wear uniforms? No.

Is public nudity legal everywhere? Yes, as long as you adhere to the rules regarding covering your privates.
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? n/a
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? Technically n/a, but premises have the right to set dress codes as they wish as long as they do not discriminate, e.g. "No Burkas allowed" is illegal, but "No headwear allowed" is OK because it is general.
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public? No, but you can be required to remove headwear or such items if someone such as a Police officer needs to check your ID.
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)?n/a
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? They have a business casual to almost formal dress code, essentially similar to the common clothing mentioned earlier, but no set uniform.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? In no way whatsoever.
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? No government control, the fashion industry is fairly thriving.

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Yes
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? Full nudity is prohibited completely. Males only, and only those not 'offensive to the eye', may be topless.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? Yes. For women, it consists of a full coloured skirt, often in vivid colours, known as a panforth skirt, with an apron, blouse, white stockings, leather shoes, bodice and bonnet. For men, it consists of skintight black leather trousers, known as Arcenshire riding breeches, leather boots, riding jacket (sports jacket with tails usually), white shirt with a cravat. Hats are not usually worn except when riding.
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? Yes, there are major differences. Women do not wear bifurcated lower garments on the outside.
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable): Men commonly wear trousers with belt, leather shoes, a shirt with tie, a jacket and a hat. Women often wear a skirt, blouse with petticoats, leather heeled shoes and bonnet/hat, with coats worn in the winter.
Are there any particular items specific to your nation? Arcenshire riding breeches are rather specific to Nortend. Riding jackets too, as well as the panforth skirt, Lendert coat and various bonnet designs.
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? It must not reveal the breasts , buttocks or genitals. Trousers must not rip in public in the crotch region and tattoos are illegal. This often causes some problems with the traditional male dress, which is rather prone to rippage.
Do school students wear uniforms? Yes

Is public nudity legal everywhere? No
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? Toplessness is allowed by males 'not offensive to the eye'.
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? A topless male may be refused service.
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public? Yes; ripped clothing is not allowed, if it reveals the skin. Females may not wear bifurcated lower-body garments.
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)? See above.
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? State schools usually have dress codes up to secondary school, when a uniform is introduced. Public and boarding schools have uniforms from infants school.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? Not really, though tattoos are illegal, as well as other body modifications of extreme nature. It is also illegal to blacken one's face at night wearing dark clothes, as it is the habit of the cat-burglar to do so.
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? No

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Usually, yes.
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? Yes. Total nudity is allowed anywhere where it's not too dangerous.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? None.
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? Kinda unisex. Females tend to prefer thight robes instead of the usual bodysuits as civilian clothing.

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Yes, people are allowed to wear clothing.
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? We do not feel that it would be right to punish individuals of being unable to afford clothing or for not being able to afford to repair their clothing. That is not to say it may not be taboo in some regions or forbidden by some religions. It is generally considered bad manors to enter most buildings while one does not have covered the parts of one’s body which serve an excretory function for waste. This is more related to cleanliness than any other reason and if one is of sufficient cleanliness it is usually not an issue.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? No
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? Due to the significant differences in size and proportions of both sexes clothing tends to be differentiated.
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable):They wear clothing that would be considered functional for the environment they are in. That can range from wearing nothing to multiple layers with heavy outer coats.
Are there any particular items specific to your nation? Particular designs may be particular but the items themselves are not. Many will however carry some for of weapon on them at all times.
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? No
Do school students wear uniforms? Schools are allowed to institute a dress code if they desire.

UPDATE

Survey 2
This survey may contain information listed above.

Is public nudity legal everywhere? We do not feel that it would be right to punish individuals for being unable to afford clothing or for not being able to afford to repair their clothing. That is not to say it may not be taboo in some regions or forbidden by some religions.
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? It is generally considered bad manners to enter most buildings while one does not have covered the parts of one’s body which serve an excretory function for waste. This is more related to cleanliness than any other reason and if one is of sufficient cleanliness it is usually not an issue. Outside of buildings it is rarely restricted
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? Private entities are allowed to set rules how they see fit. If they desire to ban nudity on their premise they are allowed to do so.
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public?Yes
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)? Non-royalty are not allowed to wear so called royal colors
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? The government does not force such dress codes on non governmental institutions. Private education facilities are free to set uniforms or dress codes but most view it as frivolous.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? No, although certain articles of clothing, tattoos, jewelry, etc will may lead to greater levels of suspicion
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? No

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Most humans do, and even many Ponies like to wear some sort of clothing accessory to "fit in" with the majority population.
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? Generally yes. It is not considered a sexual nor any sort of criminal offense to simply be outside naked, although public accommodations are free to enforce a "no shoes, no shirt, no pants, no service" policy unless the person being denied service is a Pony or other sapient species whose culture does not normally require clothes on a regular basis.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? No. The closest we get is that public officials are recommended to wear red, purple, or white clothing during state events.
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? Many traditional differences between men's and women's clothing still exist, but it has been gradually leaning towards unisex (though sadly, "unisex" effectively means "male.").
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable): T-shirts, business suits, bras, etc. The fashion trends vary from year to year but the basic dress has remained unchanged for a hundred and fifty years.
Are there any particular items specific to your nation? Some neckties double as body warmers in cold weather and can expand into scarfs. Other than that there have been some other high-tech articles of clothing that have been patented in the nation but nothing is uniquely representative of Freneq culture.
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? No, not for the general population.
Do school students wear uniforms? The schools have a liberal dress code that conforms to the standards in "is public nudity allowed in your nation?" but other than that there are no uniforms.

Is public nudity legal everywhere? By default, yes. Public accommodations may have restrictions.
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? As above, some public accommodations may require clothes for service.
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? Yes, clothing laws cannot discriminate against any sapient species whose culture does not normally require wearing clothes (such as Ponies), and businesses cannot deny service to someone naked without clear notice of a dress code policy. There are exceptions if the business cites a strong health interest and requiring naked customers to take sanitary measures would not adequately solve the problem (such as crowded places like nightclubs, but buses cannot simply kick a person off for being naked; they must provide them with regularly-changed towels to sit on).
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public? No, because nudity in itself is not a crime or offense. They can enforce public accommodations policies subject to the limits above, and also uniform policies for employees of businesses.
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)? n/a
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? Very liberal dress codes. There is still a feeling that humans are better off wearing at least something that covers the vital areas, and the school requires that.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? Only insofar as it relates to government jobs.
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? No. The fashion industry is completely privatized.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Uh... obviously.
Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? No, period. Clothes is one of the things that distinguish proper civilized Sidhae from feral savages, so people having a problem with being clothed obviously belong to the latter and have no place in the civilized society of the Imperium.
Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? Outsiders would say "powered armor", and it would indeed be somewhat true, considering how most Sidhae who interact with outsiders on a regular basis typically wear some form of powered exosuit for professional reasons.
Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex?
Depends. Generally, Sidh clothing is designed first and foremost with practical concerns in mind, but can still be divided into male and female clothing, since the designs take into account the anatomical differences of the respective sexes. The difference is most pronounced in the luxury clothing worn for social events.
What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable): While there is some truth to the "powered armor" stereotype, most Sidhae typically wear professional uniforms of one type or another through most of their time - designed to be practical, recognizable and reasonably aesthetic. Casual clothing is usually somewhat modest and dark-coloured, bright colours being considered poor taste in everyday wear.
Are there any particular items specific to your nation? The same powered armor. Only in Sidh society it would be normal for someone to attend a social event clad in a full suit of military powered armor. The soldiers of the Imperium take great pride in their power suits and will readily wear them in lieu of normal everyday clothing, so wearing one on social events is seen as no different from wearing a smart suit or tuxedo.
Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? Sidhae are expected to keep their apparel clean, neat and in good condition at all times. Appearing in public in a neglected state is strongly frowned upon and disincentivized with fines. Habitual offenders who fail to maintain adequate clothing and grooming standards can further be penalized with public shaming. Since practically all institutions and businesses are owned by the state, dress codes are also enforced there, usually by requiring employees to wear a particular type of uniform while on duty.
Do school students wear uniforms? Seeing how Sidhae don't have children or schools for them in the traditional sense, no. Sidhae who study in universities, however, are required to wear uniforms of their respective university while attending classes and social events of the establishment.

Overall, Sidhae regard the compulsory uniforms and dress standards very positively, since they help to instill collective and professional identity, pride and cohesion, optimize the use of resources in manufacturing of clothing, and also eliminate snobbish attitudes towards less finely-clothed folk, everyone being required to wear some form of uniform over most of the day.

Is public nudity legal everywhere? It's illegal everywhere.
If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? Asides from obvious exceptions (such as public bathouses and common showers in swimming pools), nudity is part of some legal punishments (for added humiliation) and rituals (such as the Armoring Night in the military, recruits in their second year of training being stripped naked and subjected to hazing before being given their first suits of powered armor).
If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? Since it is illegal, no.
Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public? A lot of Sidh "laws" are really more of codified guidelines based in custom and tradition, so while the Imperial laws do not explicitly regulate what a Sidh may or may not wear, the traditions on what constitutes proper Sidh attire are still rigidly observed and enforced through social pressure rather than judicial means, effectively making them law.
If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)? Practically all institutions and enterprises require their employees to wear a professional uniform of some kind, making them easily recognizable and also indicating that they are currently at work and available for service.
Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? As mentioned before, yes, educational establishments are no different from any other.
Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? Yes, though again, the regulation and enforcement is mostly based in tradition and social pressure rather than legislation. The common belief is that a proper Sidh is naturally beautiful enough to require any further modifications, and that a person's appearance should reflect this belief. Piercings other than for earrings and exquisite hair colours are thus bound to mark one as a social rebel and a misfit. For this reason, Freelancers who tend to be just such folks are well-known for their flamboyant and outlandish dress style.
Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? Professional uniforms are typically manufactured and issued by the government, or rather the respective institution issuing them. Casual and smart clothing, however, is for most part custom-tailored to each Sidh according to his needs and preferences. Most private clothes are fabricated by specialized fabricators, the customer able to design his very own clothing articles through user interface, while more exquisite clothing is hand-made by professional tailors, who tend to run their own private shops.
Freedom doesn't mean being able to do as one please, but rather not to do as one doesn't please.

A fool sees religion as the truth. A smart man sees religion as a lie. A ruler sees religion as a useful tool.

The more God in one's mouth, the less in one's heart.

Hello, this is surveyor 2019-A here. I have recently asked our people and dear lord and savior about our laws and customs on clothing, and hopefully, the information I have recorded and provided to you will help you benchmark Pantalm. I can't wait for you to post our results up on your board, for I am a very curious fellow.

-SURVEYOR #2019-A

Attachment:

Do your nation’s people wear clothes? Clearly, yes.

Is public nudity allowed in your nation? If so, to what extent? No, not at all. If you were to be nude, the government would call you a sinner and execute you.

Do you have a national dress, and if so, what is it? No, but we encourage all clothing worn to be all black (And no, this nation isn't a funeral) for a sleek and minimalist look. We also encourage people to have robotic limbs depending on their profession, each with their unique abilities.

Are there major gender differences in clothing or is clothing unisex? There is a major difference in men and women's clothing, as Pantalm believes in a unique manner of fashion for each man and woman. However, the government provides unisex clothing for those who want it.

What do your people commonly wear? Give an example (if applicable): Most clothing, either casual, semi formal, or formal, is mostly formal in some way. Men often wear formal, long sleeved button up shirts often accompanied with black slacks. They somethings wear bow ties, which is usually a color other than black. In social events, men tend to wear all black tuxedos, with all black bow ties. The tuxedos are all hand tailored to the person and sometimes have various patterns (A tuxedo with a mosaic pattern). Women, on the other hand, wear black robes that touch the ankles, similar to a catholic nun. In social events, women often wear yet again black, large skirts, tailored and sometimes patterned, along with elaborate and detailed blouses. Some men and women wear black hexagon jump suits to give them great comfort and style, especially when worn with an exoskeleton.

Are there any particular items specific to your nation? Robotic limbs, black patterned suits and shirts, hexagon jump suits, and sometimes exoskeletons that can be as popular to wear as sneakers in the end times era (modern Earth). The design of an exoskeleton can range from sleek and industrial to detailed and elaborate. These also are mostly black, with some color added to it.

Is clothing regulated by the government in any way (for example, a dress code)? Anything the government considers sinful, satanic, or outright luciferian is BANNED. That includes things like combat boots, sneakers (I.e. Jordans), jeans, t-shirts, the pin rolling of pants, graphic tees, certain hairstyles, anything multicolored not commonly worn by the populace, and so on. Wear them, and get publicly executed and sent to hell.

Do school students wear uniforms? Yes, and their uniforms often consist of a hexagon patterned jumpsuit, thick enough that it isn't considered "sinner clothing". They are all compulsory throughout every school district in Pantalm.

Is public nudity legal everywhere? No. Be naked to be dead.

If it is restricted to certain contexts, what are those contexts? No, it's completely illegal.

If public nudity is legal, are there any laws protecting nude citizens (for example, would someone be explicitly protected from being kicked off a bus?)? No, it's completely illegal.

Does the law control to any extent what people are allowed to wear in public? Yes, earlier, I mentioned things the government bans completely.

If so, how extensive are these laws (for example, do they only restrict that you have to wear a suit at your day job or is everyone required to wear a unisex uniform?)? The laws officially ban any and all clothing worn in western (modern) culture, mandate every citizen to wear all black clothing or die, and ban every accessory except bow ties, which are the only piece of clothing that can be any color other than black. In other words, everyone is required to wear nothing but black at all times, with the exception of the bow tie, and you cannot wear your favorite pair of denim here!

Do schools more commonly have uniforms, dress codes, or no restrictions? All schools are required to provide uniforms mentioned earlier.

Does the government restrict people’s appearance (for example, dyeing hair or ear piercings)? Yes, NO hair dying, NO makeup, NO jewelry; NO to everything multicolored except the bow tie. Wear, or apply anything outlawed, and you die.

Does the government control the supply of clothing (for example, does everyone wear government issued clothing or are private businesses and fashion allowed? Every and all clothing is provided by the government, and they are of incredibly great quality because they have been but to the most rigorous testing standards. The government also provides hand-tailored suits and skirts custom made for every man and woman by request. In other words, the government is a really large fashion boutique.
