A beginner's guide...

The WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest aims to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

  1. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song whenever they choose, and after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate, nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Nations may not vote for themselves.
  2. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used but at least 80% of the lyrics must be re-written. Translations of real-life songs will result in immediate disqualification.
  3. Nation's are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative.
  4. It is compulsory to vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
  5. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation; the master nation must confirm their puppet. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
  6. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
  7. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification.
  8. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
  9. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process.
  10. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimised by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
  11. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
  12. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
  13. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if one's entry is not completed having made a reservation, the perpetrator will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalised or not.
  14. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Britonisea, Electrum, Mister X, Talvezout, and The Sword Bloke) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Tödlichebujoku returns...

Image

Artists: RAJU and Pyórremyrsky
Song Title: Save Us
Tune: Belly ft. The Weeknd - Might Not

Fearing for your life in a foreign land...
Surrounded by hatred masked with politeness...
Intolerance directed at who you are...

These are the struggles faced by thousands of people living in foreign cultures. Whether expatriates, refugees, or foreign workers, these people crossing major cultural boundaries find themselves treated as aliens in a place they call home. Neither safely living in their country or culture of origin, nor in their adopted home, they are left without support and social acceptance. When their adopted society actively turns against them, these people have little to hide behind and barely anyone to turn to, especially when the threat is a slowly boiling, long-term one. For WorldVision 47, underground rapper RAJU and breakout singer Pyórremyrsky are raising awareness of this problem, with a song created from the perspective of a Tödlichebujoki household living in a foreign nation culturally against homo- and bisexuality. With a double-edged sword of love and politics, "Save Us" has a chance of standing out in the WorldVision field and staying in the minds of viewers past the final notes of the contest. RAJU and Pyórremyrsky hope to start conversations across and beyond the WorldVision fanbase with their entry, and hopefully save countless lives from misdirected hatred and intolerance.

STE confirms it's participation in the 47th WorldVision Song Contest with the previously announced MelodieFestivålen, of which voting will open on the 5th April. This follows Ekoz's third place finish in Oreo City.

The STE also confirms its intent to bid to host the 47th edition of the contest with hopes of bringing the contest back to Carnise for the second time, the third time in Ekoz. Head of the Host Committee, Nicolai Kialstrœr announced

The STE and Carnise City Council are working very closely and very hard to get the contest back to Carnise and Ekoz. We have aims to put a very Ekozian stamp on the Contest and provide a multimedia, multiplatform contest that explores all ways in which the WorldVision stage can be used. Of course, hosting the contest is a very expensive responsibility, so the STE and the Carnise City Council plan to make all factors of the contest to be cost-effective and eco-friendly.

There's a form now?!

RTVK confirms. Entry and act TBA, to the tune of Extraordinary - Clean Bandit ft Sharna Bass.

And due to the ongoing economic crisis (though we are sailing towards better days), RTVK has announced that they won't be sending a bid for '47 or '48.
