Popular amongst all ages, though casual gaming has yet to catch on. Every gamer in Ramsetia takes their hobby seriously, large nation-wide tournaments are held often, seen as a great way to socialise.

LAN parties are a common method of celebrating a birthday, and games without the capability to be played over LAN are often completely ignored by Ramset gamers.

And while multiplayer is common, many more Ramset prefer a deep, engaging, and mature story, and punishingly complex and difficult gameplay.

Many people in La Habana go on 'virtual reality holidays'; where you and your family's consciousnesses are connected up to a supercomputer with other families, and this supercomputer simulates a holiday environment. Electrodes can be put into the skin to stimulate muscles, so any exercise done on the virtual holiday can create real-life health benefits. I'm not sure if this constitutes 'gaming' though......

We thought "gaming" was a euphemism for gambling. We don't have much of that. Nor do we have much in the way of video games.

There is a popular online game called IslandStates, where you create and run your own pretend island country. There are currently more than seventy thousand members.

We do not have these "videogames" that you speak of. The closest thing would be the various types of board, dice and card games that are popular among the 12 Virs. Most virs enjoy spending an evening at the tables challenging their friends, usually over drinks and often for money. In our larger cities, there are even a few casinos set up and run by the cocovir for such entertainment.

In Skibereen computer gaming is popular among adults and youth who tend to be less then physically capable.
As a phen in the common youth, it is viewed with some degree of contempt, games where this sentiment does not apply usually revolve around serious lateral thinking puzzles or mathematics. Typical "mindless" gaming is most popular among adults who find they have free time for more productive hobbies. As consequence the gaming industry is very much targeted at the 25-45 year old demographic.

We've got plenty of video games. The games we have here are often online, and you can play anyone in the world (though it's hard for off-islanders to get their hands on our games and systems since we rarely export them). We mostly make our own games; we don't want to worry about greedy capitalists banging on our door about copyright.

We have something like that with our "reality plus" sensory augmentation system. It can be used to go on virtual adventures like you describe. Using electrodes is a very primitive way to connect the mind to the machine, though; our angel technology rendered that obsolete centuries ago. You could say that with our angels, Children come "pre-wired" and ready to go.

Mama says that too much playing around with "reality plus" is not good for us, though, so we're only allowed so much time to go on virtual adventures.

[Mama adds: I can't have my Children sitting around all day dreaming. They have chores to do, and they need to get out of the house and get some exercise.]

Interesting, we have a game just like that, only it's called Prehistoric Survival, and you either get to play as a Human tribesman, or a Dinosaur. In the game, the players who play as the Humans must battle wild beasts, as well as go to war with neighboring tribes, while the players who play as Dinosaurs must battle other Dinosaurs, other wild beasts (like Wild Boar, Mammoths, Aurochs, etc), and Humans. It's very popular, especially amongst Dinosaur enthusiasts, and Ancient warfare lovers. The game is rated T for Teen.
