A beginner's guide...

The WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest aims to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

  1. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song whenever they choose, and after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate, nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Nations may not vote for themselves.
  2. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used but at least 80% of the lyrics must be re-written. Translations of real-life songs will result in immediate disqualification.
  3. Nation's are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative.
  4. It is compulsory to vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
  5. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation; the master nation must confirm their puppet. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
  6. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
  7. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification.
  8. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
  9. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process.
  10. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
  11. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
  12. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Britonisea, Electrum, Mister X, Talvezout, and The Sword Bloke) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Normand Entry for WorldVision 46 Released
Listen Here

BNRT had already revealed that Jules Vergule would be the Normand entry for WorldVision 46, but today BNRT has released the song, penned by Mr Vergule himself. The song has been received well by the NKMV (Norgweane Klubbe pau MondeVis, the official Normand WorldVision Fan Club), and by the Normand public, and the song has already reached the Top 10 of the Normand charts despite being released only a few hours ago. You can listen to the song, Hurts, at the link above. Jules has talked about the song, saying ,"It's a story of lust, of desire and of loss. It explores many different aspects of love, linking it to addiction and to other problems that exist in today's society. I decided to make a ballad, but I've obviously put my own spin on it. We've already started working on the concept for the staging, and I imagine it'll look brilliant on stage no matter where the contest is held". So, both Jules and BNRT seem optimistic, but how will the song fare? We'll only know when the results come in during the contest itself.

THE BIG REVEAL : ESTOGIUM
Llunivexserelle llorgé (United as one)
By Amethyst Hollande

Tune: Il diluvio universale - Annalasia

Image

Sample of the Lyrics:
Sitte vostrawaixe (If we were)
Llunivexserelle llorgé (United as one)
Biarawai invinciablæ (We’d so invincible)
Xenocratiermos vorg un vorg (Working hand in hand together)

The song, United as one, is the first song to entirely be in Rwhitten Language. "Llunivexserelle llorgé" or more literally, "United" was written a few months back when Amethyst found herself stuck in a relationship which was rather abusive. She hated it. This sing expressed the man in a positive light; if he was the right one.

Signing up. Not sure with what. Probably the opening act that never saw the light of day, but I'm not 100% sure.

A MESSAGE FROM MISTER X

It's not just any Committee, it's the WorldVision Committee. A Committee more lenient than most. And having participated in every WorldVision Song Contest since WorldVision 29, I'm here to convince you that experience is what is required on the Committee. I'm not going to trash talk anyone else, because I pride myself on listening to the WorldVisioners, and what they want.

Last time, I promised four things, and I believe I was successful in implementing them.

The first pledge, to "adopt harsher punishments for those people who don't realise that this is a bit of fun", thankfully never was forced to come to fruition. We went without any major controversy over the past few editions, something we haven't seen for ages.

The second pledge, to "take WorldVision to the next level by giving the host nations all the support they need to have a successful contest", I consider to be a success. I keep a scoreboard for every edition, which I verify with the host nation in order to ensure that we don't end up with different winners and a "Terry Wogan" (RIP) moment. Especially in the last few editions with such tight results (WV45 & WV44 were won by just 1 point, WV43 & WV41 by 8, WV42 by 5, and WV40 by 1), I believe that this is key.

The third pledge, to "welcome debuting nations with open arms by making the Committee even more approachable and not domineering", has, I feel, been well adopted by not just myself, but by all members of the Committee (showing that I am good at working with other users). I am proud of some of the débutants over the last few editions, such as Arioslavia, who took second place in the last contest on his second try.

The final pledge, to "allow WorldVision to run as successfully as it can without Committee intervention", may sound like an excuse for us to be lazy, but in reality, no one wants an over-arching bureaucratic organisation bossing things around.

So I am asking you to re-elect me, so that these four key pillars can continue. And whether I am elected or not, I wish only the best for WorldVision, and for WorldVisionners as a whole.
MISTER X

Voting closes on the week I have my national exams. I didn't intentionally miss the voting last edition but maybe it was for my own good. I'll certainly return for WV47 with a great song - one I initially chose for this edition.

Although I can't participate, will I be allowed to take part in Committee voting?

ELECTION MANIFESTO

Hello everyone, this is Talvezout. You may know me from F7 as a semi-permanent resident of the location threads there. You may know me from NS General, having been a part-time regular particpant in the TET and Christian Discussion IV Thread. And you may know me, from here in Worldvision. Alas, I am here to say something to you all, that I am running to hopefully be elected for the Worldvision Committee.

I would like to preface all of this in that I think the current Worldvision Committee has done a good job of organizing and heading Worldvision. As Mister X said in this thread, we've avoided several controversies along the way to Worldvision 46. And hopefully, I wish to help continue this pattern.

Now, here I promise to do and be capable of all of the following things:

A. Be online often. I promise that I will be online often, so that anyone who wishes to communicate, to ask a question, or report something, will have someone to talk to about these things.

B. Be accessible and welcoming to everyone. No matter if you've been competing at Worldvision for twenty contests or just one, I wish to welcome and help you all with open arms. No matter how old or young you are, how polished your nation is, how long you've been competing, I aim to treat you all equally and kindly.

C. Be helpful. While I've only been competing here at Worldvision for 10+ contests, I still want to genuinely help anyone here, whether it be with songwriting or with scoring.

D. Be strict. Yes, I have been emphazing the nicer things in my post, but I would like to also emphasize that I will be harsh if it is needed. Any funny business, spamming, trolling, or harassment will not be tolerated.

Thank you for your time, and I ask that you elect me to be a member of the Worldvision Committee. Thank you.

Committee or nah? #Britonisea

Postby Britonisea » Mon Feb 22, 2016 3:56 pm

Britonisea celebrates 15 editions | Is it time?

While you read my plead, please listen to this and remind yourself of the wonders of life.

You must keep trying

It's been 15 editions, you know. That is nearly 2 years of being around in the WorldVision scene, a scene which never fails to plaster a smile on my face. Though I haven't been participating with the same nation (Britonisea) in the past 15 editions, I have participated in every contest and always an active participant. WorldVision has had it's ups and downs but WorldVision (currently) is on an up and I'd like to help the committee with keeping the conest the way it is...or improving it. I, the user behind Britonisea and many of it's confusing GBK-ABEN puppets, have contributed over 20 songs to the WorldVision Song conest alone and never missing a deadline of any sort. But let's start from the beginning.

About me;

Back in 2014, I was looking for NS' answer to The Eurovision Song Contest. Wow, look! WorldVision 31 was on the first page. Looking at the hundreds of comments on the OOC Thread of the 31st WV Song Contest, I got more excited about participating in the contest; being apart of the family which is now celebrating 46 editions. Then I thought of any old song and thought of a good name. I posted. I didn't know what was going on. WorldVision was so hectic 15 editions ago but I knew I'd get the hang of it. Posting my song in the IC Thread, I thought it was an obvious winner. But, as nations posted their songs I started to doubt my entry and I was right to do so. 21st/25th. At least I'm not as bad as Electro Velvet.

It urged me to continue, and continue and continue. After a string of bad results, I'll admit, I got really frustrated. I did. But after being calmed by some of the WV participants ages ago (some of which are still around today), I was ready to take points from others who did well and improve. In WV34, I broke the "20s boundary." And an edition later, I was awarded 94 points which was 5th. Since then, my view of WV was different. Is it a really a contest? Anyway, after flactuated results, after 5 bids, my 6th bid was successful and I hosted the 41st WV Song contest. The same contest I won. Ever since then, I have been getting pretty decent results. If I had given up and the WV Community didn't support me then I certainly wouldn't have won. Keep trying.

My Aims;

I'd like to keep trying. I'd like to try and improve the contest. Firstly, I would provide much quicker updates to the OP; and when I mean quicker, I mean, everyday. I'd update the OP everyday (unless I have something on) to make sure everyone knows everything which is up to date. I'd also like to add the songs being used to the OP because I hate having to go through all the comments trying to find if the song is being used during the contest. Of course, maybe not all committee members may be willing to do this as this is increased work, but I would do this to benefit the contest.

I'd like to create a whole new worldvision.tv. WorldVision 38 happened 8 editions ago and the "official site" hasn't even been updated yet. I would either get willing committee members or people who aren't the committee helping out to create a WV Page similar to that of Eurovision.tv. We can do it! As well as providing access to the site, I'd also love to help Kalosia with the WV databases! We need to be official!

Try new things? I am not so sure about this one however I would need everyone's support! What would you like to contribute or change about the contest? I'm pretty sure that you have things that make you say "I wonder if that could be in our WV." I would make sure that I would support people with great ideas building it up before presenting it to other members as well as the general WV public.

We have been getting new nations but we haven't passed the 40 nations barrier in a long time. I'd love to get some more people involved in the WorldVision community by telegramming regional leaders about the contest and hopefully they can get some of their regional members to participate. This may fail. But guess what? We have to keep trying.

I'm guessing you think I don't have the leadership skills. I have. UCR, my old region, was (no more) a large region featuring in the top 50 - possibly top 25 in population and I was their longest serving president while being apart of their "committee," The Union Council. Though I don't take all of the credit for building the region (I hardly take any), it shows I can work in a group with others and make use of a massive community.

And also I- the song has finished? Oh. Well. Vote for me to be a member of the committee. I'll always try my hardest to never let you down. I wish you luck in WV46 to everyone!

Doctor Kennedy Rowan Coleman, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Ardokian Republic
With Alistair Moriarty awaiting trial for his involvement with the tolerance camp system, there was a lack of musically-inclined politicians. However there was one woman, the new deputy prime minister, who volunteered to represent Ardoki. This woman went through several days of intense training, from none other than Alistair Moriarty himself (with the assistance of Elder Dance Crew). Ardoki would hopefully do better at this WorldVision Song Contest.

We're back baby. Gertrude Pullman and ? to perform.

Didn't you get my tg, or do you have several candidates to choose from?
Nation retconned: The Reich is now Nazis only aesthetically, not politically (although they still call themselves Nazis, but it doesn't mean anything. Hitler died in 1938, Himmler, Goebbels, Göring and the other criminals lost their power in the following power struggle and the Reich became a "regular" corrupt dictatorship). It's based/stuck in the 1950s - 60s, but thanks to Die Glocke we can interact with all worlds. WWII still happened, but ended in a tie. Some Wunderwaffe exist (such as UFO:s and Die Glocke), as well as revived dinosaurs.

This is only a parody nation. I do not endorse National Socialism in any way, nor the people associated with that ideology.

In the morning the Lotnuscoran broadcaster revealed their entry for the 46th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest. Zakh Ebor (full name: Zakhary Mateush Ebor) is a 24-year-old singer and songwriter from Shoatem, the capital city of Lotnuscora. He started his career at the age of 15 when he performed at the local TV show "Teenagers Can Sing". The song he will join the international party with is called "Avalanche" and promotes Zakh's second album "Of Graphite" that aspires as his first attempt to enter the international music market. The lyrics tells about the difficulties symbolized by the avalanche that everyone has to overcome to reach a target (mountain top). This piece is unofficially dedicated to the Ebor's father who died during his expedition in the Ursine Mountains. The Lotnuscoran entry is fully written in English. LKRTV released the official lyric video as a promotional material, so you can listen to the song, having clicked the link below.

Commentary may just be a thing this time. Prepare for aloof inanity or whatever happens inside my head.
早晨!ToBu for short.

This year's entry will see Oisinistani singer Clodagh Ni Riada singing 'Reach The Sky' to the tune of 'Roar' by Katy Perry.
