Does Bigfoot Exist?

The legend of Bigfoot goes back as far as the Native Americans. It seems that most tribes that inhabit the Appalachian Mountains and the Pacific Northwest have their own native name for it. In order for them to give something like this a name, someone in their tribe must have had an encounter with this unexplainable creature. Bigfoot, also known as a Sasquatch, has been portrayed by modern eyewitnesses as a large, hairy, muscular, man-like creature around 7-9ft in height. Footprints have been documented to be around 2 feet long and 8 inches wide. Audio of this beast is though to be something like a "yahoo" shout with a grunt similar to a loud, low growl. Research teams in North America also have discovered the creature to knock on trees as way to communicate. Large piles of limbs have been found and are thought to be a possible nests for the creature. The diet of Bigfoot, who is mainly nocturnal, is considered to be omnivorous. So, is this creature dangerous? A Sasquatch has never attacked anyone on record, but it is said that it will protect its territory. Some encounters have had it throwing rocks at travelers as well as breaking small trees in their path. You decide! Is this all a hoax?

I'm a Bigfoot agnostic. It seems theoretically possible, but unlikely that a group of non-human hominids could escape detection; it's also possible that at one point such creatures existed (accounting for their presence in local lore) but that they have long since gone extinct.

And in any case, it's entirely likely that giants, trolls, and elves represent some kind of beings that were encountered at some point. It's also entirely possible that these beings represent the ancestral memories of the remnants of Neanderthals or other hominid groups.

No. No non-circumstantial evidence (ie corpses, scat, kill sites, etc) has ever been found for modern bigfoot and there is no fossil record to indicate anything of the sort ever lived in North America or anywhere else for that matter.
