Helen paced back and forth, watching tables being moved in the ballroom, and chairs pulled around. She sighed and walked through the Hall of Light to the Entrance Hall. Here, a staircase rose 9 stories to the top of the Palace, perched on the second floor which was reached by ascending a wide and regal staircase, with landings gazing down on giant windows and the floor beyond. She stood on the second floor, the point where the Grand Staircase began, and waited for guests to arrive.
