Should chars be able to have psychic or cybernetic augmentations?

Yeah! Sounds cool and can only add to the plot.

Yes, it did. I was sorely tempted to have Marilee shoot that character on the spot. Honestly, that's what should have happened.

It was a shame. You did a good job *nods*

Should we pick up from where things left off, or reset it again? I'm trying to think based on my own schedule, which is tight also.

Reset again, the whole nuke thing left a bad taste in my mouth. That and it'll be easier for new people to join.

Honestly, who would think to nuke aliens? They're aliens. They came here in spaceships. By virtue of the fact that they aren't dead, they are either naturally immune to the effects of radiation, or their spaceships are sufficiently shielded to protect them as they travel (presumably) lightyears to reach us. It's the equivalent of shooting water cannons at submariners who are wearing scuba gear. Sure, you might do some damage, but it's going to be mostly ineffective and you'll be the only one suffering under the aftereffects.

I mean, by that logic why bother shooting them? Their ships survived micrometeors, so they must be naturally immune to bullets. Bullets are a hell of a lot less powerful than nukes, which are the best thing we've got.
Plus, I don't think they're staying in their radiation-shielded ships everywhere they go, including the surface.

Their ships can survive re-entry which is comparable to the effects of a nuclear fireball and despite the crew most likely getting killed from the shockwave, the ships would still be retrievable. That and the fact that central and eastern Europe got trashed just narrows the list of places the aliens would need to visit, because they weren't headquartered anywhere on Earth but in space.

All the nukes did was spare the aliens time by removing most of their opposition, and despite killing a good amount of alien soldiers there was no way for the Russian gov't to know how many troops the aliens had in orbit, for all they knew 12 billion aliens could've landed in Moscow moments later. Meanwhile a good amount of Human troops have died, and the Russians are labelled as dumbasses for nuking their allies as their first resort.

If their ships survived micrometeor impacts over several light years (at a minimum) then yes, they'd probably be bullet proof. And while nukes might be the most powerful weapon humans have, using them completely defeats the purpose of why they're using them in the first place. These are alien invaders, so soaking land (which was densely populated and arable prior to the arrival of said aliens) in lethal amounts of radiation is not going to give humanity that land back, because even if it makes the aliens leave then humanity won't be able to use it.

My thought process was that, as a nuclear armed nation that had just seen a number of your neighbours fall in a matter of days/weeks, with hostiles seemingly bent on total destruction nearing your border, the political impetus would be to use nukes. Probably didn't think that through entirely, and irl it probably wouldn't have done much damage anyhow (although, let's be honest, if we held the alien invasion to much of a realistic standard, there wouldn't be much of an opposition to RP :P ). Would definitely like to get involved as a player again though, OPing is too stressful.

So the basics of the storyline is up. I'm thinking the reset will launch around end of March due to RL schedules.

Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances, ATHENA will not be launching on time. It will, however, start as soon as possible.

Please accept a complimentary penguin as a token of appreciation for your patience. The line is off to the left.

Still WIP. I've run low on free time to OP it myself, although the material is mostly together. Have some lined up.
