A Meeting on the Destruction of Alantania [TWI ONLY]

Postby Dashgrinaar » Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:30 pm

This thread is to discuss the downfall and ultimate destruction of the nation of Alantania. Open to TWI only. Please consult with Alantania before joining.

The Gods of TWI have convened on how to destroy Alantania, a nation overrun by many disasters and one that is still recovering. The nation has committed crimes against it's people, and needs to be brought down. In the Palace of TWI, the Gods meet, and plan the downfall of Alantania

What we got so far:
-Confirmed Case, warnings issued but no quaratines
-disease enters Lake Salvation, gets into drinking water, nation quickly becomes overrun
- when infected reaches 40-50% of the pop. All non-citizens are deported, healthy citizens are put on sterilized boats to New Hope(?) and leave the nation with Miklanian and Linavian military forces.
•8-10 mill die, 7-5mil survive; state disbands and the refugees are relocated
-nations check on Alantania after no comms or transportation is reported-find dead ghost nation with decaying bodies
-Great Depression begins

Excluding New Hope=11 mil ppl.
Changing 8-10 mill die, 7-5mil survive
4-6 mil die, 7-5mil survive still
Everything can still apply/be te same

Ok, that's good. So, I would rather go with 6 million dead with five million alive or even 7 million dead with 4 million alive. Now we have:

- Disease begins in a port city of Alantania, but goes unnoticed
- First case confirmed, but by now almost 25% of pop has it
- Disease gets into Lake Salvation
- Alantanian government declares state of emergency and commands people to take a test of whether they have the disease or not

-Miklanian, Linavian, and Dashgrinaari special operations teams enter Alantania after a period of no communications and find a dead ghost nation
Great Depression begins

Bolded events are events that happen in chronological order, and ones that are not bolded fall between, are not of much importance, and/or happen concurrently with the above bolded event. We can always elaborate and add more detail, so how does this look?

When should I make the first post on identifying it

Not actually joining in but I just wanted to comment a few things:

If many people end up dieing, and the government does become ineffective, it wouldn't formally dissolve. That seems a bit irrational in context, and so unrealistic.

Another thing is, an economic collapse would likely occur during the outfall of this disease, not after people discover Alantania doesn't exist anymore.

Ok, I see Bhum's point.

So instead, we can have Alantania be declared defunct after the crisis, and move the economic collapse to somewhere near the middle

You could say that the global economy starts to notice a minor dip in economic activity associated with people dieing from the disease. The world takes notice, but isn't entirely certain on what's happening in Alantania. You could say that the press gets censored by the Alantanian government to prevent public fallout from the uncontrollable disease (which would also prevent international media from knowing about what's actually happening in Alantania), and that when Alantania closes its borders, the foreigners also remain and also die.

You should time this at a moment when the majority of other nation's ambassadors to Alantania are out of country, and during a peaceful lull in order to ensure that attention gets drawn on Alantania too late. This'll mean that you'll have to time this disease, such that the entire country gets killed off in 3-7 days.

Having a disease 1. destroy 90% of a population while 2. not transmit to neighboring nations is extremely unlikely and unrealistic.

Agree but it would be hard to make nations like Franco Albion agree to being infected with a deadly disease.

any sort of viral infection to this extent would affect the entire region. there's other, better ways of destroying a country. like nuclear fallout, a massive wildfire/earthquake or other devastating large-scale natural disaster, or a prolonged defensive war that utilizes chemical weapons/landmines

Also, to my understanding, it's not a virus... I'm not sure, but in the RMB, when they were discussing the disease, they said it was related to a paramecium...

I don't like nations moving because it ends up affecting everyone in the region.
