Earth is Invaded! OPEN, MT

Postby The Insectoid Empire » Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:20 pm

ooc: Open to any nation that wishes to unite against hostile alien invaders! RPs of individuals caught up in the war, trying to escape and evade the invaders are also welcome.

IC:
The gargantuan Mothership glided to a halt, floating miles above the surface of the lush, blue and green planet.
"Power down all engines. Put all power into shields. We will not need to be moving." said the Captain in a deep voice, punctuated by the clicking of his mandibles. The first officer rustled his wings. "Of course sir. Shall I order the fleet to deploy?"

The Captain turned and looked at him. "Of course. We have not travelled thousands of light years to delay any further!"

The First officer raised two of his four arms, placing one on his heart, and the other on his head, strikingly similar to the universal military salute of Earth, then turned and walked down the dimly lit corridor.

Minutes later, in the hangar of the mothership, the doors slided open silently, revealing the black void of space, and beyond it, the planet Earth.

30 Cruise ships, each a mile in diameter, left one after another and glided down toward the Earth.
Aboard Cruise Ship 7, the Captain of the ship monitored his instruments. Shields were at 95%, well within acceptable combat parameters, especially when engaging the feeble weapons of the Earthlings.
He tapped commands into the control panel, then sat back as the ship glided toward its target, the city in the country named the "United States" known as San Francisco.
As the Cruiser got into position a passenger plane bound for the airport flew too close, crashing against the shield of the Cruiser, for a second the afternoon sky of San Francisco was illuminated by the pale blue glow of the shield, and the yellow explosion of the jet.
The Captain didnt even look up as he stretched his wings.

"Captain? Captain we are ready." said a Lieutenant.

"What? Oh, of course." said the Captain. "Deploy the Sentinels."

Several holes opened in the bottom of the Cruiser, and drop pods were fired from them. They hit the ground with tremendous force, cracking the concrete. One landed on a bus in a busy intersection, tearing it in two.
Corporal Davies, in the drop pod that hit the bus, pressed the release button. The drop pod hissed, and slowly opened. The humans who had gathered around the site stepped back a bit, as a Sentinel stepped out.
The Sentinel was a 10ft tall walking battle suit, encased in it was Corporal Davies. He sat back comfortably as the Sentinel raised to its full height, and extended its two arms. Encased safely inside this huge machine, he monitored his camera. He saw humans moving in closer to see the machine. Like lambs to the slaughter. These fools really were that complacent of their dominance of this planet that the thought didn't even occur to them that this was something alien, and that the attack was about to begin.
The Sentinel finally finished running its diagnostics. - Shields 100%. Weapons - 100%
There was a high pitched hum as the weapons on the sentinels arms came online and ready to fire.
Davies looked down at the crowd through the camera. Who would be the first death of this war?
The large man? No. He was fat and useless. He would never manage to run away before Davies finished massacring the crowd.
How about that woman? No. Again, with that ridiculous footwear Earth women insisted on wearing she would never escape either.
He noticed a man, standing close by, curiously surveying the Sentinel. He took a step forward. He looked young, for an Earthling, and physically strong for one too.
Davies smiled. He brought the Blaster round to aim at the man. He pulled the trigger. A beam of light jettisoned from the arm of the Sentinel, instantly turning the man to ash. A second later, he fired again into the crowd, not bothering to aim for a particular person this time. The humans turned and ran, screeching in their disgustinly high pitched voices. Davies laughed, clicking madly, as he fired again and again at the crowd, killing indiscriminately.

On Board the Mothership

"Captain, first wave has started the attack. So far no resistance from the humans Over 30 major locations across this planet are under attack." said the First Officer.

"It is no more than we expected." said the Captain. "The humans will be in shock. They will not understand what is happening, and even when they do, their resistance will be nothing."

He turned and looked out of the observation window at the insignificant planet beneath him. This would be just another aqquistion for the Insection Empire.

Alarms screamed in the Nevennkeblan Space Control Center as the mothership appeared. An ensign looked up at the panicking lieutenant on shift this late at night. "Sir, We have a class 5 object on a collision course with the planet.... It appears to be dropping into orbit, and deploying many smaller objects, each approximately a mile in diameter." The lieutenant nervously chewed on his thumbnail. "Call the president. NOW!"
President Rico muttered angrily to himself at being disturbed at three in the morning, but it was for the good of the nation. His jaw dropped when he saw the radar images being relayed from the NSCC. "Initiate Plan Alpha. We're under Attack." His aide looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "By who, sir?" "I have no idea, but they're sure as hell not from this planet. Activate the Emergency Broadcast systems. All citizens are to report to designated safety bunkers. We're launching. Now." He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a key card. He nodded to his aide, who walked to the opposite side of the office, and slid another card into a slot. There was a beep, and a heavy door in the wall ground open, revealing an elevator that led down to the control bunker.

((Since we're facing aliens with huge amounts of firepower here, would it be okay if I used powered armor? If you've ever read Hienlien's Starship Troopers, you know what I'm talking about here.))

With a low grinding noise, silo doors across Nevennkebla ground open, and missiles hurled themselves upward at the sky. Besides their rocket boosters, they were equipped with ramjets: the faster they went, the more thrust they put out. The rockets clawed for altitude, each setting course for one of the smaller assault ships. Each carried a 500 megaton nuclear warhead. Rico had hoped he would never have to use these, but it was too late. It was necessary. Meanwhile, the Mobile Infantry was scrambling. Troops climbed into their armor, grabbed weapons, and moved to the dropships.

There was no response from the rest of the world yet, but hopefully someone else would make a move.

Aboard cruise ship 3.

"Sir, we have incoming human weapons." clicked Lieutenant Exunus.

"About time." said Captain Deadalus. "What exactly are they firing?"

"Nuclear weapons sir. Crude, but powerful."

"Of course. Whats our shield status Lieutenant?" asked Deadalus.

"96% sir. Enough to take a hit." said Exunus.

"Very well. Take no action. I wish I could see their fear after their most powerful weapons prove as effective as throwing water on a supernova!"

The Captain of the Mothership, Overlord Xenus, relayed an emergency message to all the cruise ships.
"You have incoming human nuclear weapons. Now, your shields should be able to withstand the blast, as long as they are over 80% functional, however, the damage to the planet itself could be catastrophic, and it would remove the entire purpose of our invasion if the planet were to be destroyed. For this reason you are ordered to stop the missiles by whatever means possible. Use your death rays to swipe them from the sky, or capture them in stasis beams and fling them into space. Cruiser 19, you have special orders..."

Captain Jensen of Cruiser 19 nodded, then said "Yes, of course sir."
He pressed a button on the control panel in front of him, "Fire control, prepare the Stasis beam, track that incoming weapon!"

"Yes sir." came the reply from fire control. "ETA, 90 Earth seconds."

"Dont miss damnit!" said Jensen.

"Of course not sir." said the controller. "Standby... Ok, we have the weapon trapped in a stasis beam, plotting trajectory to fling it into space."

"No!" said Jensen, "You are to fire it back where it came from."

"Im sorry sir, I thought we wasnt supposed to damage this planet?"

"No, but Overlord Xenus has ordered me to fling this missile back at where it was launched from, to intimidate the humans." said Jensen.

"Of course sir. Plotting trajectory now. Missile will be fired back at point of origin."

On Board Cruiser 27...

"Sir! The stasis beam missed! Preparing to fire again, ETA of weapon, 15 seconds! Shields are down to 30% due to a fault with the generator!"

"30%?!" shouted the Captain. "That is well below acceptable! Cancel firing of stasis beam! Divert all power to shields!"

"Sir! That would take at least a minute! There is no time!"

The Captain screamed in rage as the missile struck his cruiser, tearing it apart in a gigantic nuclear explosion.

On Board the Mothership

Overlord Xenus screamed in rage as the First Officer told him the news.
"There was a fault with Cruiser 27s shield system sir. They were destroyed. There is no chance of survivors, the explosion was huge. All other cruisers managed to shoot down incoming missiles or throw them into space. Cruiser 19 also succeeded in firing the missile back at the point of origin. I do not think that the humans will attempt to use these weapons again. In any case, the missiles detonating in space caused EMP effects on many nations of the planet. Nevertheless, the loss of Cruiser 27 is regrettable."

"Regrettable??!" shouted Xenus. "Our image of impunity is damaged!"

"Yes sir." agreed First Officer, "Damaged, but not destroyed. This was, on the whole, a devestating loss for the humans, we lost one crusier, and with it the city beneath it. Of the 30 missiles they fired one hit its target, and even if the other had reached, the shields would have saved them. This was no huge loss for us. We still have many more waves of cruisers and airships yet to invade."

Xenus calmed down slightly. "Yes." he said, "Yes, launch the second wave."

The hangar of the mothership opened once more, this time fifteen cruisers left on course for earth, but that was not the main part of Wave 2. Hundreds of thousands of small alien fighter aircraft departed the hangar. Capable of both space and terrestial flight, and armed with Fusion Blasters as well as proton missiles, they were designed to completely dominate the Earth nations air forces, as well as take potshots at ground targets.

The second stage of the invasion had begun.

"My God..." said the Emperor as he watched the TV footage. "Its actually happening..."

The Empire of Nullivan had not yet been struck, but he knew it would just be a matter of time. The Earth was facing a full scale invasion with the intent of occupation.

"Sir, I think its time." said General Greggs.

"Time for... my God... time for what?" said the Emperor in a distant, quiet voice.

"Time to officially open the Capital of New Nullivan City. And quickly too."

"Of course! New Nullivan City!" said the Emperor, suddenly alert again.

New Nullivan City was a gigantic underground city, which The Emperors grandfather had comissioned during the Cold War, when it had seemed almost certain that the world would be engulfed in Nuclear Fire.
It was a good thing that it hadn't been, because New Nullivan City had only just been finished a few months ago, and so would never have been ready for a nuclear war, but now it could serve a purpose.

"Evac my family to the city immediately. Begin emergency broadcasts. Any civilian, from any nation, may find shelter in New Nullivan City if they can get there themselves. Theres enough rations stockpiled down there to support hundreds of millions for months, and if we manage power properly, using UV lights, we can keep growing enough food to live, hidden away underground, for years! Maybe decades!" the President was getting excited. "We'll live underground! Form a resistance! They'll never find us!" he said happily.

"Slow down sir." said the General. "Lets just focus on getting you there safely first, ok?"

"Ok, ok. Lets go." he said breathlessly, and allowed the General to escort him to his waiting chopper.

The television screen flashed on as the Honorable Mister Stephens awoke to a telephone call. "Yes I'm looking at the images right now. Yes, Mister Secretary." I can't believe this is happening. "I want the Royal Family evacuated to La Chateau de Roque immediately. Get my family there as well." He hangs up.
"Sir!" one of the Prime Minister's staff said. "We need to get you to a COG site."
"The Continuity of Government Plan did not cover this! Get Air Force One ready, and activate the National Emergency Broadcast System. Tell the Citizens that the answer to the question of if we're alone in the universe has been answered and the Invaders are not friendly. Tell everyone to get to the bomb raid shelters, and send out the Royal Guard to start shipping supplies to these shelters."
"But Sir, what about your safety?"
"If the Aliens become peaceful, I want to be here when it happens."
"But the Presidential Palace is no longer safe!"
"Thats why your going to get all the members of Parliament to the COG Sites around the Golden City."
The Prime Minister pushes the staff member out of the Green Wing. The Green Wing, which is the Prime Minister's office in the Presidential Palace, is connected to the Red Wing, know as the Presidential Suite.
"Mr. President, since you handle all domestic authority, who are going to be evacuated to a COG Site."
President Ashton begins to say something
"The matter isn't up for debate. As of right now I assume all control of the Royal Armed Forces. Please don't argue with me."
"Fine, but i would like you to note my protest, Bill."
"I understand your concern, Robert, but right now I need you safe to run the country in case I don't make it."
A green and white helicopter, one like the President of the United States uses, lands in the Presidential Garden.
"Looks like my ride is here."
"Good by Robert."
"I'll see you when i see you, Bill."
With that the President of La Pays de Soleil walked out the Presidential Palace, and on to the awaiting helicopter with his family.

Meanwhile at the National Defense Department....
"We have conformation of authorization. Initiate the Continuity of Government Plan." said Joint Chief Phillipe Baptiste. "We are now at DEFCON 1 everyone. Prepare for Nuclear Fallout."
"Has anyone heard from the Prime Minister?" a staff member asked.
"Last message was sent two minutes ago. He was boarding the COG high speed rail-system, and making his way to our present location, here at the Pentagon."

On the train...
"Can't this thing go any faster?" Prime Minister Stephens asked.
"We have reached the maximum speed limit." the computer read to him.
"How long to the Pentagon?"
"About 90 seconds."

The Prime Minister arrives at the Pentagon. "Mr. Secretary!"
The Secretary of Defense looks up from an enlarged map of the hostile object.
"Get the Royal Armed Forces moving. I declare COG General Article 34 subsection D!"
"Right, Mobilize every armed forces unit we have." the Secretary told the Joint Chiefs of Staff
"How fast can you get me to the crash site?" referring to the downed Invader.
"The city is still radioactive."
"Then why do i see Nullivan Aircraft flying around it?"
The satellite image showed several white hot objects circling a great dark spot in the middle of the city.
"They arrived just before you stepped off the train." a staff member said.
"I want a close up of this god damned thing!"

The Premier was not exactly surprised by this invasion. He stood their, his slim human body was no match for the bulky Black Wolf who inhabited the country. He asked their leader,War Leader Viktor, to join him for a meeting with the VSM High Command. Viktor and his kind were human-wolf hybrids, with great strength, fast regenerative powers, and sharp reflexes, they could win any battle.
"Premier, why have you called me to a meeting," asked Viktor
"Well, Earth has been invaded, my friend," responded the Premier
"Who cares about them, my lord. They have different ancestors as us, so why should the Vlack Sturmians help them,"asked Viktor in a harsh tone.

"They have the same blood as all humans, my friend," said the Premier

Overlord Xenus pored over the deep scan image of the downed cruiser. Flying around it were human aircraft. The puny humans couldnt stand the current levels of radiation but when the levels dropped they would start studying Insectoid technology. It didnt really matter. The war would be won long before they reverse engineered the tech, but still, he could intimidate the humans, and convince them the tech was worth something by vaporizing the site.

Tetrarch Ehrek Barlom stood facing the full conference table, his navy blue and white governmental robes ruffling lightly as he moved his right hand to place a file on the table's nearest end. The conference was composed of the four Supreme Consulates and twelve of Humanitarian Districts' top generals, two from each division; air force, artillery, infantry, navy, relief, and nation guard, all of them standing by their respective chairs, waiting patiently for the Tetrarch to take his own seat.

Ehrek motioned to a nearby Capital Security soldier, who immediately stepped up to the teak-carved ornate seat at his end of the table. The guard reached out expertly and pulled the chair from its resting position, taking a step back and snapping to attention. "At ease." Ehrek said, taking his seat on the uncomfortable chair. The summoned officials breathed a sigh of relief as they sat deeply back into their less formal seatings. "Well, gentlemen, I believe we have a crisis on our hands." Tetrarch Barlom said rather casually, staring across the table at Markus Lytharian, one of the more prominent Supreme Consulates. He coughed briefly after taking a sip of water, clearing his throat. "Eh- yes, my lord. Reports have recently been flowing in of mysterious landings of unidentifiable craft and mechanized infantry, mainly from reporters in neighboring nations and of those where these events actually occured. Now, we have no reports of any related incidents occuring in the Confederacy, but there is a good deal of concern to be expressed over these disturbing events."

Ehrek nodded, soaking the information in. "Are the events at all localized?" He asked anyone that could answer accurately. At that point Rog Itoran, Chief of the National Guard, spoke up. "Not specifically, sir. It seems that most of the more advanced nations are reporting these events, and few of our technological, economical, and military level have even had sightings of such occurances." At that moment another Capital Security guard stepped into the room, whispering something briefly into the Tetrarch's ear before being dismissed. The guard saluted and departed the conference. "Gentlemen, I have just been informed by our excellent international intelligence agencies that several of the nations where such happenings have taken place havedeclared a state of emergency. I will attempt to inquire further into the subject, but I cannot promise anything until we have proovable information." Ehrek spoke grimly as he stood from the table, the rest of the officers and consulates following suit. "Until then, dismissed."

(Hmmm... Permission to pull an Independence Day, and steal a starfighter?))

Suddenly, light filled the sky. With a roar, the Kell Mountain base was vaporized as its missile returned to earth. Shocks and Tremors caused by the explosion set off avalanches in most of the mountain range. Rico slammed his fist on the desk. "This is unacceptable! We have to get to that fallen ship, and retrieve what we can! Retrofit some suits with as much shielding as they can take, forget the armor!

A team of Mobile INfantry ground toward the crash site, the heavy lead around their armor holding them down to a speed of about five miles an hour. They approach the crash site, and the leader pounded on the hull of the ship. He and his men began to gather what they could, and load it into a cart for transport back to base.

Air raid sirens blared across Engelsburg. In his office at the tallest spire of the Governmental Palace, Leader Heinrich Engels watched the looming presence of the cruiser, and surveyed the destruction it had already caused to his beloved city.

"Sir?"

Engels turned. His secretary was standing at the doors of his personal lift, a high speed box that would bring him down into the secured command bunker two miles under Engelsburg. "We'd better hurry. It won't be long before the craft targets the palace."

Heinrich sighed. "These are the darkest days we are ever likely to live through. Initiate an SoE."

He then resumed observing through the window. "I'm not coming." I'm leading my troops from here. It's what my family has done for generations, in the darkest times of Sharfghotten's history."

Across the city, government-erected propaganda towers began their work.

SOLDIERS OF THE GLORIOUS SHARFGHOTTEN ARMY! Now is your time. These invaders will rue the day they came to Engelsburg. Make them bleed for every defiling step they take into your homes.

Captain MacGueval looked onwards with mild dismay. The alien invaders had decided to set up straight in the city center, gutting apart the monuments and whoever happened to be nearby at the time.

It was an hour ago when word got through to him that Gawdzendia was under assault and needed to be defended at all costs, to which he responded by lighting a cigarette and loading his pistol.

His forces quickly realised that most - if not all - of their weapons were proving to be rather useless against their invading foes. However, their 'shields' weren't invincible, concentrate enough lead down one lane and they were bound to break. But this also meant that the M01 Divisional Air Defense System (DIVADS) had to have their guns elevated significantly lower so that their 50mm shells could do some hellish work on the ground.

The invaders had been contained, a small party of maybe thirty of the enemy had scouted out the capital city of Adonia, probably to see just how worthy it would be to add to their grisly intergalactic trophy cabinet.

"Sir, we've lost twelve more M01 units, and thirty-four more of our PT-91's." reported the nearest radioman, slight terror audible in his voice.

"Blast, at this rate we're going to lose all our armoured before felling a single one of them." MacGueval spat out his cigarette in disgust, and fired a few 9mm rounds down the street for effect.

His defiance was quickly met with the spurt of alien weapon fire, scoring huge gashes in the front armour of the nearest PT-91 and ripping up the ground infront of him, vaporizing several soldiers nearby.

"Command is suggesting an EMP strike, to see if it will affect them in any way." Reported the same radioman, a little more shaken now.

"To what affect would that be?! If it didn't work we'd lose our armour, and then we might as well put some lead in our own brainpan for all the good that'll do!" Shouted MacGueval.

"What we need right now," breathed the captain under his breath, "Is a fockin miracle."

ooc: Sure, go ahead and steal a fighter.

On Board The Mothership
"Overlord this is fire control. Death Ray is charged to Level 2, and is locked onto the crash site of cruiser 27. Estimate total destruction of crash site and at least a 2 mile radius of destruction around it, as well as minor damage to structures further away due to blast wave. Firing on your command."

Overlord Xenus said "Fire."
There was a quiet hum as the Death Ray fired on its second weakest setting, and the Overlord watched as a small green glow, barely visible from space, appeared on the surface of the planet. He nodded, satisfied, then walked over to the Planetary Command Transmitter. "All Crusiers, this is Overlord Xenus. Directive 97 is hereby withdrawn. Repeat, Directive 97 is withdrawn."

Directive 97 was the order that the Cruisers were forbidden to fire their primary weapon at ground targets, however now that a ground force was well established, and they could be fairly certain that the humans would not risk using more nuclear weapons, they could flatten the cities of Earth.
At least in theory. Most crusiers would simply aim a shot at the largest building of the city and destroy that as a means of intimidating the humans, and killing the human leaders, the rest of the buildings of the city would simply be pushed aside when the Mothership commenced launching of its "City Packs".
These were essentially flat-pack, self assembling cities, and their launch would mark the beginning of the process of securing a firm hold, and colonising the planet.

The City of Engelsburg, Sharfghotten, Earth
"All Sentinel units, fall back to minimun safe distance from Grade 1 Crusier Blaster shot." ordered the Captain of the Crusier hovering over the city.
The Cruiser Blaster was essential a much scaled down version of the Death Ray mounted on the Mothership.
On the ground, several Sentinels ceased firing upon crowds of fleeing humans, or military vehicles, and moved away from the city centre. When the final one called in "Minimun distance reached, free to fire Cruiser Blaster." The Captain checked his intruments, confirmed the target, and pressed the Fire button. In an instant the heart of the city, the Palace and the surrounding buildings were destroyed, and many more further away buildings were knocked over, or suffered damage from the shock wave.
Satisfied, the Captain said "All Sentinels, move on to whatever city of this nation you please, kill any humans you encounter."

Gawdzendia, Earth
Inside his Sentinel, Seargeant Nexus struggled to focus through the fire of the explosions going off on his shield, as again and again the humans fruitlessly pounded it with tank fire and with huge guns he assumed were supposed to be used for air defense, and, comically, fire from small weapons that were firing what appeared to be bits of metal at him.
Just as he got a clear shot on one of the tanks, three shots from the anti air guns went off on his shield, making him lose his focus again. Around him, it appeared that his comrades were having similar troubles.
He radioed the Cruiser floating uselessly above them, "Damnit, do something about these anti air guns! We cant see a thing!"
"Standby..." the Cruiser captain said. "A squadron of fighters are en route to your posistion, ETA, 30 Earth Seconds."

Officer Meng looked down upon the battle from his fighter, he could see the Sentinels attempting to advance, but being held back blinding fire from the huge guns on the ground. "Fighters, move in, Attack Formation! Cleared to engage all human targets on the ground! Fire Proton Missiles at the buildings to get them to collapse on the enemy, and if firing on the enemy directly, use fusion blasters!"
He lowered the nose of his fighter and accellerated toward the humans, his squad following close behind.

The Mothership
"Congratulations Comrade." said the Overlord. "As a reward, you get to witness the first Insectoid City building itself on the planet."

"Thank you sir! It is a great honour!" said the Captain of the Cruiser over Engelsburg, and with that, the hologram of him disappeared from over the Overlord's desk.

"Fire Control, this is Xenus!" said the Overlord. "Is the City Pack launcher ready?"

"Yes Sir!" said fire control.

"Target is Engelsburg, in the Nation of Sharfghotten! Fire ASAP!"

The City Pack was fired from the Mothership, for a few seconds it moved silently through space, toward Earth, turning silently and gracefully, before the boosters activated and it shot off into the planet.

The City of Engelsburg, Sharfghotten, Earth

Just minutes after the city had been flattened by the Cruiser Blaster, the City Pack streaked through the sky, striking exactly where the Government Palace had been. For a moment it was stuck in the ground, almost as high as the Palace had been, and many times wider, then it began to spin, burrowing into the ground, when it was barely visible above ground anymore, a huge circle of dust expanded from where it had struck, and buildings around the city began to shake, strage, alien structures began to force their way through the ground, knocking aside old human buildings. The main structures of the city were a military Spaceport, a military ground base, living facilities for average Insectoid citizens, and where the Palace had once been, a huge, pointed tower.
After about half an hour the city finally finished building itself, and what was left was a strange sight indeed. It was as though somebody had built a Space Age city, but forgotten to demolish the old one first. A huge tower was in the middle of the city, which was built predominantly of some sky blue material, around the outskirts of this new city, the old city of Sharfghotten could be seen, with tower blocks and other structures at precarious angles, as the city of New Sharfghotten, as the Insectoids called it, had expanded and pushed aside the old city.
Mere minutes after the dust of this dramatic event had settled, Insectoid Shuttles were arriving at the Spaceport from the Mothership. On board these shuttles were civilian Insectoids who would begin the process of getting the new city functioning, as well as the first batallion of Insectoid Footsoldiers to arrive on Earth.

The Colonization had begun.
